Jane Bowen was Deputy Headteacher at my Secondary School, and also taught me History. Very pleased to see her looking so well after all these years and she was so informative to Sarah, and also handled her emotional moment so sensitively.

I'm so happy that Sarah finally got some grand need about her great grandfather. It shocked me a bit when she got so emotional but thing about it made me a bit emotional to. Hugs to you Sarah. Hats of to your great grandfather.

I have been a long distance fan of yours via TH-cam for quite a while and I have laughed until my sides hurt at times, but it was lovely watching you learn about your wonderful great grandfather and seeing that Sarah is not all cynicism. You are good people and you come from good people. Thankyou.😊🤠

I did annual beach clean on the northwest washington coast in 2012. This was the year after the Japan Sendai tsunami. The beach I worked was quite isolated and we were directed that if we found anything that could directly relate to a named person lost in Japan ( book wallet jewelry etc) we were to bring it in The Japanese were very keen to reunite the belongings to family. I believe one item found was a soccer ball with name(s) on. Nothing I found was of value in this fashion, but it was good to know that the effort would continue for many years to come.

Awe, it just shows you how connected we are to our ancestors. James was a good man, having to work at something that is so horrific (but everybody needs $ to survive), then to give freely to the poor orphans. I was crying along with Sarah. Hope James and all affected by the Pegasus tragedy have been resting in peace.

If I didn't admire Sarah Milligan before, I certainly would after seeing this. I just want to give her a great big hug!

My maternal side faced a different maritime incident coming from the Canary Islands. I have yet to find the news clipping of the incident. I did visit a church in PR that celebrates their journey from the Canary Islands. This is my next search, to find an authentic article of the incident that has been passed down generation to generation.

Good luck with your search. Sorry to hear that your family, even if distant, had to suffer a tragedy.

A sister-in-law lost her own sister and her grandmother in the Canary Islands, but it was not a ship, it was the horrific Pan-Am disaster. At 12, I recall being haunted and obssessed by that tragedy, long before I knew her to learn she lost family in it. Her sister was only 23, and was a fill in for another relative that was to go, but injured self and could not. Her GM was in her 70's, I believe. Her mother suffered a handful of losses.
