I would recommend adding mending to your armor and carrying at least 2 stacks of Bottle o' Enchanting to repair your armor, This is very useful in crystal pvp, long fights and when you want thorns in your armor Use the sword mostly on attacking(before shield) when your enemy puts up his shield immediately pull out your axe, try to disable his shield and then continuously attack him with axe until he puts his shield up again, then disable it and then switch to sword and continuously attack the enemy. Once you pop his totem, hit the enemy with axe 2-3 times before switching to sword

What you should get in any PvP is exp bottle. It mends up your armour, making it amazing for fights. And you should learn cpvp as you can dominate entire servers with it. Also, if you hit a player into the air and crystal them, it will do more damage. You can also use a lagswitch for a move called "Rocket crystal" by rasplin, an amazing cpvp'er. In fact, one of the best globally. And, you should use swords too as it deals a little less damage than an axe by a few points but you can strike twice as fast. You should use swords when your enemy's shield is disabled. Also, try to agro them when they pearl. When they pop a totem, strike with an axe as they have about 5 hearts.

Something I always do but noone else does is just have arrows of weakness, I mean, you can just easily give them weakness or any other effect by just having weakness arrows and they won't do any damage to you, really dont know why almost noone uses this but always works for me so.
Arrows of instant damage 2 with bow of infinity+unbreking 3+ flame+power 5 + punch 2 . It can do over 100 hearts of health to your enemy. It one shots the ender dragon. One fully enchanted nethrite armed player equals about 500 hearts of health , so it will take only 5 hits.
Your fully right, countering a strength 2 pot can be mega useful and can give the edge in combat, tho I would also carry some harming or slow fall arrows just in case
Tip: turn off your dynamic fov if your fov is on 105 or quake pro and also for performance or reduce lag while fighting is to reduce your render distances
When using crystal, you can use slowfalling arrows to make it easier as they will stay in the air for more time, so more time to place a crystal and kill them
a really cool thing you may have forgot to mention is that a piercing crossbow shoots through shields so you can use tipped arrows or chip away at healing items from range

A lot of people in the comments already mentioned about xp bottles yes you need at least a stack of xp bottles if late game pvp fights you can get them from villager trading. In the video he said to use numbers to switch inventory slots faster but some numbers from your keyboard are far from your fingers so I recommend setting custom keybinds for like ender pearls so you can switch to it quickly and pearl when you are low. Lava buckets can be useful in early game fights but I recommend not to use them in late games because most of the players will bring fire resistance and lava buckets will be just a waste for your inventory slot. I recommend watching tutorials from pvp experts like rasplin.

When your using Crystal u can give the enemy slow falling hit him in the air place obbi encrystal on top and then blow it up thats better. 3. You didn't say that it is better to throw potions on your head becouse it lasts longer. 4. You didn't say anything about placing a block in front of you when u use beds or respawn anchors.
Something that I haven't seen being used in pvp and idk why: potions for the enemy. If you splash your opponent with weakness you will be able to deal more damage than him. Another option are harming and poison potions. Here are some test results (all of them keeping in mind the opponent wears full prot 4 netherite): Harming II can deal two hearts with one bottle. Poison I with 1:30 duration will slowly deal damage but at the end of the effect the opponent will have lost 9.5 hearts. Poison II with 0:21 duration will deal damage much faster and at the end it will have dealt 4.5 hearts of damage. Also, you can throw a lingering potion with poison or instant damage in order to assist with getting some distance. By throwing both a lingering potion of poison II and a lingering potion of instant damage II you can half your opponent's health by also getting some needed distance.
also when doing crystal pvp make sure that you blow up the crystal on opponents legs level or higher, it does a LOT more damage and can one-shot a totem
One thing, if you are playing crystal pvp, you want to have one piece of armor be blast prot IV instead of prot IV, so you can't be oneshot by a crystal at full health, same goes with intentional game design explosions. Also, when doing late game pvp in general, bring XP bottles to mend armor, as fights are often determined by who's armor breaks first.

Hate to burst your bubble, but none of this will work in hypixel. Hypixel uses a much older type of pvp, where spamming is way more effective, and most of the items in this video simply don't exist or just aren't as useful in hypixel. There are plenty of videos like this but for hypixels pvp type, just search up '1.8 pvp tutorial' on youtube :D
It's really impressive seeing farm builders starting to PvP. There are a lot of items you need to have in order to have the gear advantage, but I would recommend the following as MUST HAVE: (Considering that you have Armor and Weapons) 1. Experience bottles 2. Slow Fall 3. Golden Apples 4. Enderperarls (I take 5 stacks) 5. Pots

When bothe people have axe and shield, hold down left click with the Axe, so when the enemy hits your shield, he will get an instant hit.
Also when you fight crystal PvP then try to hit the enemy and when he is in the air, place obsidian and crystal and blow up. You can than try out to place instant another crystal, so your enemy will get at least totem used.
And when you have a gunpowder farm, you can craft rockets with firework stars, then drink strenght 2 and spam rockets with multishot on your enemy.

Hate to burst your bubble, but none of this will work in hypixel. Hypixel uses a much older type of pvp, where spamming is way more effective, and most of the items in this video simply don't exist or just aren't as useful in hypixel. There are plenty of videos like this but for hypixels pvp type, just search up '1.8 pvp tutorial' on youtube :D

I would say fishing rod and water bucket also come in handy. Where one is to pull enemy closed and another is maintain distance.

It's really impressive seeing farm builders starting to PvP.
There are a lot of items you need to have in order to have the gear advantage, but I would recommend the following as MUST HAVE: (Considering that you have Armor and Weapons)
1. Experience bottles
2. Slow Fall
3. Golden Apples
4. Enderperarls (I take 5 stacks)
5. Pots
