Thanks again for including us, Greg! You must have gotten one of our very last "Hemingway" daiquiris. We recently renamed to the "No. Four Daiquiri" - because you're right, a Hemingway should 100% include grapefruit. Unfortunately, real grapefruit juice turns too quickly - and we weren't about to put "grapefruit with natural flavors" into this cocktail!
We'd love to see your thoughts on our 1944 Mai Tai and our Lemongrass Vodka Gimlet - but after all the canned cocktails you've tasted, you've earned an indefinite break!

I had an experience in my childhood that was very similar to Greg's cheesecake story. One winter during high school, before leaving home to walk the half mile to my bus stop, my mum would make me a travel mug full of hot chocolate. One morning I reflexively almost spit out my drink, because I was expecting hot chocolate and got hot apple cider instead. My brain thought something had curdled until I realized what I was actually drinking... then it was fine.
I was viciously hungover on vacation this past summer in VT and went to the cider mill down the road for breakfast (cold hollow if you're in the neighborhood). They had hot cider which I, hungover and unable to read basic signage, mistakenly got instead of coffee but then felt bad to ask for another cup. Drank it and it was REVIVING. Like how I imagine those hangover IV's to be.

I love this concept! You should do a twist where instead of canned cocktails, the mystery cocktails are all fresh, made using Greg's formulas, but without him knowing which cocktails are in the mix.

Fun fact about the cut water Long Island iced tea. I drank a 3 cans to mourn because I thought I failed my national emt test. Turns out I passed, but couldn’t celebrate that next morning due to the searingly painful hangover. Cannot look at that can now with out physically gagging.
Friend of mine had the same exact experience. Grabbed a carton of Orange juice from the freeze and drank some and said to his gf at the time "bleh this is disgusting, it has gone bad" she looked at the carton and said "that's grapefruit juice".. then he was "ah ok, then it's delicious" xD
I don;t even drink, but I watch these videos for the interplay between Greg and his screen titles. Always a fun gag.
Re: the "I don't think anyone is buying this"... When my partner and I moved into our current apartment, we found that the previous tenants had left a single On the Rocks bottled Cosmo on top of a random laundry cabinet, unopened. We chilled it and drank it immediately. So while I have had that drink, you're totally right, I didn't buy it.
So, was it intended as a welcoming present for whoever came after, or as a booby trap? Rather like GIs in Vietnam leaving cans of C-Ration ham & lima beans next to trails the VC were known to use...without wiring them up to anything explosive.
The comparison of the negroni to gothy teen energy is so amusing to me because I just bought cheap amaro to try and it tastes exactly like the smell of my witchy stuff drawers like the EXACT dead on smell of the incense and herbs and etc, is the flavor. I kinda dunno if I like it but it is very funny.
I feel like a Moscow Mule is an extremely safe bet cause its primary flavor already comes in a can, and it's not hard to shove some vodka in there and call it good

The canned drink reaching plague proportions in Australia at the moment is espresso martinis. I *kind* of get it, they can be a fiddly drink to make if you don't have an easy way to get espresso coffee, but I'm deeply suspicious of them.
In other words, I'd love to see Greg drink them.

Walnut wood is toxic, to a small degree. So Greg, don't chew on your bar top!
Unsurprisingly, quite a large number of herbs and botanicals used to flavour different types of alcohol is slightly toxic. The trick is to keep the levels low enough that the alcohol is still the most toxic substance in the glass ^^
I freaking love these canned cocktail, weird drink orders, and cocktail machine videos. You've made more amazing drinks than I will ever get to try myself in a lifetime, but these funny videos are a thing I can go back and enjoy many times over.

Hey man. Wanted to give you a huge credit for my mixology development. I'm a fresher and it started with just buying a shaker set. Found your channel like a week or 2 ago and spent my every non working hour on watching as much of your content as possible. I have watched around 100 of your videos and rewatched most of them after that including theory videos. Finished my 11th cocktail recipe today. Cannot express my gratitude enough, so I'm just gonna say that you gave me a whole new dimension to life.

Yeah that expectations phenomenon is amusingly accurate and it gets me all the time when I'm trying vegan alternatives to meat. If someone tells me that it "tastes just like -insert meat here-" chances are my expectations causes me to absolutely hate the product when I probably wouldn't have minded it to begin with.
Always just prefer actual vegetables to vegetables trying to be meat. Though that Impossible/Beyond stuff is pretty good
It's interesting how much better Greg seems to be able to process things once he knows what they're trying to do. I'd love a video where people send in weird cocktails they've made with an explanation to see the before-and-after review of him knowing the intention.

Oh, I had far, *far* too much fun watching the gradual descent into tipsy antics. Wonderful episode. Incidentally, I actually also really dig these looks at “Ready-to-Drink” cocktails like this; while I have this show to thank for an improvement in my own mixological skills, getting a look at what’s good to pick up when putting the time and effort in to making something yourself isn’t viable is quite nice.
Also, that tasting note of confused Goth kid vibe is one of the funniest things Ive heard in a long while.

You're so fun! I've enjoyed the heck put of the few episodes I've watched back to back, so I'll be returning for more. I was so busy in my teens and 20s working all the jobs that I hardly had time to sleep much less learn what kind of drinks I liked. 30s were busy with raising kids and too broke (due to all their activities) to enjoy many nights out. Here I am now 40 and still have no idea what I really like. Watching you pick out the flavors in different drinks helps me figure out what cocktails I'd like. I'd love to go out with my husband and do the town, we live just outside of Austin, but I hate ordering drinks and ending up not drinking them because they're not what I like. This is funny and surprisingly helpful!

Back when I was still quite young, maybe 12 years old or so, virgin Bahama Mamas were my favorite drink from Red Lobster. It makes me laugh to think back on it now.

I'm with Greg on the St. Agrestis amaro -- I find it very toothpastey. I actually love their Inferno bitter and therefore their premade Negronis though. It's very different than a Campari Negroni, I'll allow, but I really enjoy it. (Their spritz is pretty good too.)

I had a Cayman Jack canned mojito last weekend. I honestly liked it. It wasn't horrible as a drink.

I feel like a great deal of why these aren't all that appealing to you and to us, your audience, is that we're a part of the craft cocktail scene. A "normie" would find these very convenient and probably pretty tasty, whereas we would like a more personal flair and more personal control over its contents. A more reasonable middle ground is pre-batching and pre-diluting cocktails so they can sit in your fridge and stay ready to go at a moment's notice. In fact, in quite a few pre-prohibition cookbooks, there's often sections for pre-batching literal barrels of cockails to keep in the cellar, and apparently, Manhattans and Martinis benefit greatly from long-term storage.
Also, now that you mention it, I wanna see pictures of Papa Greg's goth phase.

My journey into making my own cocktails was largely prompted by wanting to make a Margarita, but recoiling in horror at the chemistry-lab list of ingredients on the bottles of premix I looked at. I *knew* there had to be a better way. And there is.
So my initial intention of making my own notes on Greg's tasting notes started at snarky and went rapidly downhill from there. I'll just condense them as follows:
Walnut wood. As bar tops...check. For rifle stocks...check. In drinks...hard "Nope". Also, WTF a canned Mimosa? If you can't find fruit juice and Prosecco where you live, MOVE! And don't come back at me with the "We're on a camping trip into the darkest wilderness" shtik. They sell itty bitty pony bottles of Prosecco specifically so that you can pull them out in the middle of the equatorial African jungle and make Mimosas.
Talking about "pony" (spec. 187ml) bottles of Prosecco, I've bought them -- and some of these are SOOO GOOD. LeMarco is decent, and I will try Ruffino pretty soon.
The look of the drink really affects your decisions. I'm betting a blindfold he would nail them.

Canned Laughter?
Back in my time in my hometown, we called the gothy shop with all the incense and shit a "curio shop." I realize that we may have been misuising the word, but it helped distinguish it from the secondary shop that sold more spell supplies and less goth clothes lmao (come to think of it, we referred to that other shop by name and didn't have a secondary term for it XD)
Not gonna lie, it was kind of nice that the incense smell was strong enough to permeate the clothes section; even PVC clothing bought there came home with a hint of that musky, old witchy smell.
For various reasons, I can't really drink these days outside of a weak cider once in a while, but I still really enjoy watching Greg being confused and surprised. I hope we get even more surprise and (occasionally) delight in 2022.
I would never have thought that watching someone get drunk would be this much fun. Subscribed!
