Friend of mine in England came over to the US in 2018. Seems Texas was his favourite by a long shot. Much preferred Houston to Seattle, LA and Portland. He used to rave about the East coast and New York in particular but no more, Texas is the place to be by all accounts and perhaps now, more so than ever.

Lived in Austin for 10 years, Matthew McConaughey is the best thing Austin has going on. He is a true ambassador for Austin and Texas. He is what famous people should all strive to be. Unforninately the cost of living in Austin forced me to move to TN. My hats off to Mr. McConaughey.
@M K Well , I have been in TN for about 8 months. Found a job three days after moving here. I have no friends or family here. In fact I had never been to TN before moving here. I bought a home here on line never seeing it before moving in. My property taxes in Texas were close to 7000 dollars and rising 20 percent every year. Here in TN same square foot house.(1500 sq ft) is 1600 dollars My car insurance dropped in half. In Austin commute to work was between 1 hour to 2 hours depending on traffic. Here in TN about 20 minutes going the same distance. Eastern TN is more rural, but has all the convience of any large city just not as much as it. Instead of 10 Walmarts you might have one. My pay is the same here as in Texas. infact better. My employer pays all my healthcare. In Texas I paid for 60 percent of it. Its a bit colder and wetter here and summers about 20 degrees cooler. instead of 100 degrees, its around 85 in August. Land values are cheaper. A acre of land in TN goes for about $10 K, Austin it depends, $15 to 30 K and you have to put in a well, septic system and utilities. Another $100K. I have not meet one person who has not been overly friendly in TN. When they find out I am from Texas they are delighted. In Austin everyone is hung up on which minority group you belong to. Lots of Liberals. Eastern TN 99 percent Conservative. They voted for Trump and Republicans 95 percent. It's very religious. There is a Church every 5 miles. Small churches. No mega churches with all the politics that goes with that. Best of all no homeless people. You can walk the streets or go hiking or to the local parks and not see homeless shelters and tents all over the place. I have seen one homeless person here. If you live in the City the great outdoors is just 5 minutes away. Tons of stuff to do outside. Lots of lakes and rivers . Don't tell anyone how great TN is. They will all come here. I cant say anything about Memphis or Nashville. Never been there except passing thru. They may just as bad as Austin. or better.
@M K Most homes in my area (Tri-City) are older homes around 30 years old that have been updated and fixed up. There is huge amount of old abandoned homes here. Not sure why. but one could be bought, remodeled or torn down and then you have a great property location.

What a great show. Man. Season 1 anyway. Didn’t bother with season 2 or 3. Plus the theme for true detective season 1 is one of the best themes on any tv show. As is the soundtrack of each episode
We need a rust and Marty spinoff. Keep Matt’s character pessimistic. Matthew said in an interview he’d love to come back to the role but true detective is not that type of show which is great and all but Matt and Woody made the show popular. Season 2 wasn’t great I hear, and by the time season 3 aired people just didn’t care.
@@natechenry Season 2 wasn't half bad. But it is NOT like season 1. It's basically about a decaying man living in a decaying city.
Season 3 was pretty good, but the characters lacked depth in my opinion.
