I have the same sigma 70-210 with the same problem. Mine is actually permanently stuck at the long end. I do however get some nice shots with it. Nice bokeh. Just no zoom.

There’s a fella who’s recently been 3D printing stuff to convert old “dead format “ instant cameras to be able to shoot 120 roll film

The first generation Sigma AF lenses were notorious for sticky stuff appearing on that rubber grip material. I had a limited amount of success cleaning one with methylated spirit. Good luck!

I've given it a quick go, and it's a very, very slow and messy process. Not 100% sure I can finish it, as it's just gross.

@@gideonliddiardphotography Alcohol based hand gel. Purell works well. Wear some decent gloves, apply a load of gel to the rubber, leave it for a while, then start wiping it off with a cloth. The rubber gunk is really sticky, so you'll likely need to dispose of the cloth and gloves by the end of the job.
Thinner liquids like meths or ipa don't stay in contact with the rubber long enough to really disolve the gunge.
It's useful for light seals too. When you're applying one, put hand gel over the adhesive strip and you get time to work the foam into place. Once the gel evapourates off, the adhesive sticks fully.
Geniunely, I believe that anybody who shoots film or tinkers with old cameras should have a plentiful supply of the stuff, it's stupidly useful.

Hi Gideon, I'd like to see a light meter video. Did the Leningrad 7 come with the incident light accessory (They often get lost)? Shame about the Cosina CSM being faulty, got a working one and they are quite good although seem to chew through batteries, no off switch. The wide adaptor looks like it's for a video camera? Removing sticky rubber, acetone will do the job but will remove all the paint from the DOF scale in the process, used it on a minolta zoom. Really glad to hear you fixed the Nova.

Unfortunately the Leningrad 7 was missing the diffuser, as is often the case. I will add the light meter video to the list :-)

I say, Gideon. Could you perhaps dab some tippex over that rawl plug hole on your wall? I keep trying to fix some grub off my screen!
