    Thanks for all the information. As a new provider it is always good to see what policies other providers have. I also don’t charge for my sick time, vacation or holiday pay. I do charge if they are sick( the child) or if the choose to stay home because of a snow day. I have had all three of my kids in daycare and so I can see both sides like you mentioned. I have learned in the short time that having strong policies you stick to can be the best way to maintain your happiness and the happiness of the daycare kids.

      Clever Simple Chic so true! I think a LOT of providers run out the gate with these strong policies, but then don’t have the strength to enforce them. I’m all about making policies YOU are comfortable with, but most importantly policies you will enforce.

    Thank you for this very detailed handbook information! I find it interesting what other providers do for their business to make it run smooth, also it made me think I should look over mine again! 🤣 what I do to save time and money idea 💡 is that I have the interview with potential parents and hand them my business card with my information/ website. Then tell them to look at my website to read the handbook / licensing paperwork online in pdf files and give me a call back if they would like to enter into my program they can print it and fill all paperwork at home to drop off before daycare begins.

    Love your videos! Can you go into detail regarding your nap/rest time, daily "report cards" and your pick up routine. End of the day pick up seems to be crazy! What kind of activities do you have the kids do during pickups? Thank you!

    • @mommytomany5674
      @mommytomany5674  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I will try my best to film this this weekend.
      Pickup is SO hard! Because I have such a young bunch, my babies go in their high chairs with books or table toys and my toddlers sit at the picnic table in my dining room with play-doh/puzzles/crayons. If they are SUPER ansy, I let them play with our Alexa device and have a dance party. I ALWAYS have them packed and ready (shoes on, coats on etc.) BEFORE parents get there. Parents don't walk more than 5 feet into my house at pick up and I hand their kid off. Keeping the kids occupied and having everyone ready really prevents the kids from running to the door and allows me a second to talk to my parents.
      If you want to e-mail me at ketosammi89@gmail.com I will send you a copy of my daily report.
      Regarding naptime- Currently I have children nap in two separate rooms (infants in one and toddlers in the other.) My own two girls nap in their own beds. I turn on baby sleep music, give them their lovies (except infants. No blankets, just pacis) and they fall asleep on their own. I do not pat backs or rock children to sleep. Parents are told this at the interview. It's absolutely impossible to rock and pat 6 children at once and get the break during naptime that I desperately need. Any small infants (I currently have a 2 month old enrolled) stays with me in the living room while the others sleep. I check in frequently (they are always within sight and/or sound). All of the kids nap REALLY WELL, but it didn't come easy. Persistence and communication with parents is KEY.

    So providers that charge when they are on vacation or sick, don't have a heart? It would have been great to explain both sides of the issue and then provide a synopsis of why you don't charge when you are sick and what the parent can expect upon your return. Also, if a child is sick, do parents bring the child to care anyway because they are paying for it?Great video and packed with pertinent stuff for my future daycare! Thank you!

    • @mommytomany5674
      @mommytomany5674  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Lori Madison I don’t feel that way at all, I’m sorry if that is what you took from that.
      You are right, I should have explained both sides. Unfortunately, I was not well versed in the other side. I have since experienced it and whole heartedly agree with the providers that DO charge when kids are sick. It can put an enormous financial strain on providers, especially during a rough cold and flu season.
      I am making an updated videos about the things I’ve learned since reopening my daycare. When it’s posted, please check it out!
      Thank you for your honesty. I appreciate you watching my video and appreciate your comment!
      Best of luck to you in your future daycare and please let me know if I can help in any way!

      I did a bit more research and was able to get more information about the two approached. I see your point now. I also see the alternate point of view as well. I guess it's up to each provider to decide how they want to approach that aspect of it. When you say that you "have a heart", I now know exactly why you say that, lol! I have no idea how I will structure my policies in that regard, but I thank you for sharing that point. For someone that has not yet started in the business, it's a great piece of information to consider.

    I am in the process of becoming licensed, right now i provide care for two children. When you mentioned earlier that you dont charge for sick days does that mean that if a child is not in your care that day that you adjust their weekly tuition. Im askibg because i have a parent who will randomly keep their child home 2 or maybe even 3 days a week and not let me know until the last minute. And then want to deduct that from their weekly tuition. This becomes a loss for me. Im trying ti be fair but in struggling with coming up with a good policy...any advice. By the way i love your videos

    • @mommytomany5674
      @mommytomany5674  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      GREAT QUESTION! I am planning on updating this video. I did not charge if the child did not attend. Since January, I have changed that policy. I give my families 2 weeks unpaid that they can use throughout the year with one week's notice approved by me. Otherwise, they pay for their spot, not attendance. I lost a TON of money only charging when children were present and realized really quickly that that policy was NOT working for me.

      Revealing my daycare name and state opens up the possibility of someone finding my address/phone number. Since I run daycare out of my home, it can be easy to find that information through our states website or a simple google search of my daycare name. I’ve had a few run ins with some strange people since starting my channel (as little as it is), and always want to protect my family at all costs. Thanks for asking!
