Jesus said to "render unto Ceasar that which is Ceasar's, and unto the Lord that which is the Lord's." I believe a practical application of that for us today is to understand what our "Ceasar" is. It's not the president, the Supreme Court, or Congress; but rather, in the American system of government, the Constitution is our Ceasar.
True statement, the US Constitution is our liege lord which of course is subject to the Lord of lords.
Until those weak Christians who advocate Roman's 13 as a blind obedience to the government suffer persecution like its author, I have NO trust in their interpretation of it either. Rather, Mark here has the right judgment on the matter.

No. To paraphrase the bible, render to cesaer what is his, render to God what He deserves (Matthew 22:21).
Jesus could have rebelled but He didn’t. We should follow His example.
Jesus rebelled against the authority of both Sadducees and Pharisees, who together made up the ruling Sanhedrin, on several occasions. He obeyed Torah, but not the men who twisted Torah for their own ends.
Jesus was not, and is not, a pacifist.
Civil disobedience is our duty against unjust laws.
Caesar is owed taxes, but not our complete surrender. God alone has claim upon our fealty.
We obey God, which makes us obey the government. However, if the government goes against God, we do not obey the government. Our highest loyalty is to God, not the government.
You cannot paraphrase the Bible’s teaching about self-defense to pacifism like that. You are throwing the rest of the Word of God and eisegeting Jesus’ teaching.

Just state and unjust is not pivoted on govt and people to honor the lord. To be in such a defined state by such preachers, one has to draw upon within to render services, thus honor, to the one above.
Nothing good comes from “within” a person invested with power.
Pro 14:34 Righteousness lifts up a nation, but sin is a shame to any people.
The righteousness in the above verse is not self established based on one’s rectitude.
Righteousness is the “temple build without hands”. Unrighteousness is the “temple build with hands”.
Mrk 14:58 We heard Him say, I will destroy this temple(govt) that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands.
A nation build “without hands” is a righteous nation.
Render unto caesar that which is caesars!
Caesar is owed two things. 1.. taxes 2. Obedience to the law. Not obedience to the whims of a tyrant, but obedience to the law, which in the U.S. is passed only by our representatives, not bureaucrats unbilled regulations.
GOD created Adam. From Adam here created Eve. Everything was perfect. Then Eve, of her own free will, sinned. From that point GOD allowed sin on the Earth.
GOD wants us to come to him by FREE CHOICE and not be FORCED.

Sorry pastor but I must disagree. Rome may have pulled the trigger but Jesus’ own people had every opportunity to keep Jesus from the cross but they called for Barabas instead. Jesus was killed by the majority of His own people.

Jesus was killed by His own will alone. He gave up His own life, willingly. No one killed him. The entire reason for Him becoming flesh was to go to the cross. Stopping that action would have been against God and damned billions of souls.
If God didn't have it in His plan to bring His son to the cross, no being in existence could have made it so.
Pray for the Holy Spirit to guide you as (or if) you read the bible.

Always love your sermons they're the best, however I do have to ask is Jesus running for office in 2024?
Problems:
1. He immediately conflates "State" with "Nation". A group of people is a nation. A State is something that demands a monopoly on the use of violence and taxes.
2. The State is always based on violating the 10th, then 8th, then 6th commandments. All of them are unjust. A Christian should still (generally) submit to it. This goes along with the command to "turn the other cheek".
3. Don't conflate "Anarchy" ("without ruler," now used as "without a State") as "chaos". The system of governance that God set up was not a State system, see Judges 21:25 and 1 Samuel 8. God still had governance for the people, just not State governance.
4. His reasons for civil disobedience are incomplete. Abram defeated the 4 Kings who k i d n a p p e d his nephew. Rahab hid the spies and lied to the soldiers. Ehud a s s a s s i n a t e d the king of Moab. David (and Jeroboam) ran away and refused to d i e. Jehoiada committed treason by hiding Joash from Queen Athaliah and crowned him king. Elijah defied the King on Mt. Camel. Daniel flagrantly disobeyed the king of Persia's command not to pray (he wasn't commanded to do it openly)! Paul escaped the Governor of Damascus in a basket. The Maccabees revolted. The Founding Fathers did the same. Read about what Dietrich Bonhoeffer did!
5. Pontius Pilate didn't care that Jesus said he was a King, because his Kingdom wasn't of this world. He crucified Jesus because the religious leaders threatened to revolt. He is playing fast and loose with the Scripture.
So based on what you say all of the Founding Father's were bad Chritians because they went past civil disobedience?

How do get that when YAHWEH sent Moses to Pharo with a command not a request of permission. Let My people go!! That was not asking permission!

@@dewaynethomas7729 Yes, God's will was for Moses to get Pharaoh's permission. Your pride resists that fact. Only when a ruler directly demands literal sin are we permitted to rebel. The Apostles even had to carry the packs of the Roman soldiers.
