The reason why you were never able to 'pop off' in overwatch in a balanced match is because this game is much more a MOBA (like dota and lol) than a shooter where teamplay and focusing on specific objectives is much more important and impactful than trying to headshot everyone.
It wasnt just headhshotting tho, every hero almost could do it, I mean some couldnt, they made alot of heros so some were misses but like genji isnt just headshotting people when genjis were getting into backlines and killing everyone, nor was tracer, hanzo was but it was much more effort than widow, because hanzos would be parkouring around while doing it or junkrat just massacred your entire team solo off one really good play. The reason you're associating it with widow and hanzo is because they're kinda the last ones left who can still do this in the game, or widow is since they just removed hanzos 1 shot but both couldnt towards the end of ow1 but than 5v5 becomes a thing and suddenly they're doing it again all the time and it's been an issue ever since, where they're trying to now figure out a way to keep widows identity while taking her ability to kill everyone in the lobby away, but what if all the other heros could do it again too instead? Would widow feel so bad than?

Heya dude, I don't know if you accept requests, but it would be an honor if you were to cover the System Shock series. Since you really know what you're talking about in your videos and I really enjoy your style of comedy, it just adds that special charm that drew me to subscribe to you in the first place. But if you don't feel like covering System Shock because you would rather focus on more important matters in your life, that's completely understandable.
Hey man, Thanks for the request and yes I will cover the series eventually. They are the OG Immersive sims and I don’t think that I’ve personally given them enough attention. I can’t give you a timeframe on when I would cover the series but just know It’s on the list.
A thousand percent agree, OW1 when it first came out was some peak gaming even with loot boxes it was easy enough to earn skins for free from just playing the game. It didn’t feel like a game trying to sell me a battle pass and skins that I can only practically earn through paying.
I didn't really think about it this way even though it is kind of obvious. Makes you curious just what would a new hero shooter look like to be able to dethrone the existing popular ones...
Overwatch 1 was my game, I only played Dva and hell yeah that game was fun. Idk what the hell happened to 2 but I do not want to play that game and it did not hit the same. I haven't touched it since release (does rainbow six siege count?)
I think a big issue with Overwatch is with the balancing and tuning... But it's that they mostly made changes based on what was happening in the OWL, or at the highest level of play, which accounts for the smallest portion of the playerbase. And that's simply not a good way to tune a game, because the game is played differently at the highest level than it is for everyone else. But every time a meta presented itself or was too prevalent in the OWL/top500, the game would be rebalanced and heroes would be buffed, nerfed, or reworked entirely... All to appease their E-Sports league which didn't even need to exist. You cannot balance a building from the top... Balance starts at the bottom and measured in the middle. And Every SINGLE TIME Blizzard would make a change to try to balance things at the top, it would totally break the experience for everyone else... So Blizzard would then try to make a change at the bottom, forgetting about the counterweights they just put on the top level of play, which would once again cause GM/top500/OWL to break... And they just repeated that cycle for half a decade. The answer to balance was simple the whole time... *Make 2 different balances of the game.* 1 build for GM/Top500/OWL, to keep things fresh and competitive... And make an ENTIRELY DIFFERENT balance for everyone else that would keep the game fun and enjoyable at the casual level, which is most of the playerbase. I also think rushing into making Overwatch an E-Sport before the game was even fully realized and still poorly balanced and in a constant state of flux was a bad move. Overwatch didn't need a league. They could have held one-off tournaments or annual tourneys at conventions... But making Overwatch its own sport took the focus away from where it should have been, adding things to keep the game fun and refining the experience.
Non of that matters, what this guy has bascially said is no ones super, were all just overtuned to the point where non of us can pop off due to the insane restrictions placed on every single heros kit, and this has left only the safest kits available. Torb already cant really pop off, nor could orisa and they toom hogs ability away from him to pop off when they took his 1 shot but gave him a more static ability to keep the power level the same without the pop off potential being nearly as high and the more you do this, the more predictable everything becomes and you simply dont have pop off moments anymore, and than even the heros who sometimes still can do it abit to much and they cant seem to balance it out of us, they create a character that does it for them, like brig who stopped the entire communities fun overnight, it stopped the pinnacle of the gaming industry, the literal final art form of all that teamwork which was dive, we now could all move as one unit if we were good enough and it felt amazing and everyone was doing it or wanted to learn the heros associated like genji, monke and lucio, you even had mercy for people not as mechanically gifted and than brig drops and the entire game stops, everyone hates it and instead of removing brig, they changed the game and it was game over from then on...
And were gonna keep seeing this trend, they just removed hanzos 1 shot, and he feels so bad it's not even funny, same with junkrat, and slowly over time I think were gonna see it happen to every hero until tracers only playstyle is poking people out to apply a dps passive all game. Honestly idc if its 5v5, 6v6, balanced so dive isnt the best, if its balanced fir the top or the bottom or if esports causes issues, the only thing stopping me the average player from enjoying overwatch is I cannot pop off now and that's all that needs to return and idc how it does but that's what needs to return for us to have fun again, I mean hell even ults dont feel good anymore, most are worse than the supports denial abilities now, like imagine if someone told you in 2016 that your ult you charged for an entire minute or two is gonna be worse than a single heros cool down 😂
Youre so right brother, this video needs to blow up in the overwatch community because some of the biggest creators need to be reminded of the past i think.
Your first issue with OW2: this is a 5v5 format issue as well as a fundamental hero design issue making the skill ceiling way lower. Watch samito's discussion with spilo (both well respected OW2 creators) if you wanna know more about it. It's called something like 'finally ending the 5v5, 6v6 debate' Second issue with OW2: yes The only reason a lot of us still play the OW2 is because we're clinging onto the hope that it'll be fixed eventually (it won't) and we want to remember the OW1 days
Because a "Class" would imply it's independent from the individual character, which it's now. Characters are still grouped in classes / archetypes, but play different from their peers. And thus, it's all about the heroes, not the classes.
I think "character shooter" fits more. Most "heroes"in hero shooters aren't even heroes. Only reason it's called that is because of overwatchs hero focused marketing. Tf2 characters aren't heroes, alot of paladins characters aren't, same for battle one, same for most of these games. "class shooter" meanwhile sounds bad because that's the kind of name id expect from a postal game that takes place in a school.
I woudn't say they took a ton from the source I mean having abilities and a ton of diffrent characters isn't just an overwatch thing overwatches thing was teamwork all the team comps strats and silly things you can do or at least could before 5v5.... also 13:45 this example kinda sucks as both sides have preety much the same chance of winning if the echo hits all her bombs and uses the beam he ded if he hits the rockets and avoids the bombs she ded if I were you I'd propably put someone like brig a close range brawl character against a pharah or a widowmaker as a better example of not being able to do shit overwatch is simply not the average hero shooter it provides a really unique and fun experience compared to most modern cs-go but with abilities
You need to stop snorting Booger Suger. I'm only 2 minutes in so I've noticed your sound is better, the video is crisp and the editing is on point. Nice one. Not to say that is was bad before but you can tell that you're getting more experienced at this....... Or just too much coke

I don't think they ever said the paid DLC was supposed to be part of the actual full story mode they had promised. They just up and cancelled real PVE and either just didn't or weren't allowed to tell us until much later.
Personally I would call TF2 a "class-based fps" and never "hero shooter", as it still focused on fulfilling fps roles, play styles and niches on a mechanical, character and set loadout level. You dont pop abilities, and classes are the characters and vice versa. Hero shooters seem to have abilities tied to the character who then is part of the larger category they play into, also "hero shooter", just sounds dumber imho. Character based fps/tps is the hero shooter's focus more then any overarching class.
I dislike hero shooters and actually my favorite shooter, and the game that I have put the most amount of hours into, Counter Strike, doesn't have classes or "heros".
I wish there was a single youtuber who could look at Overwatch as anything but a villain that killed TF2. Like it was literally a game of the year winner and has came back in a big way recently, but every TH-camr is the same salty TF2 fanboy
Not really, even if hero shooters can get pretty toxic sometimes, the toxicity is still at a more mature level than anything I experienced on competetive or arcade shooters.
The reason why you were never able to 'pop off' in overwatch in a balanced match is because this game is much more a MOBA (like dota and lol) than a shooter where teamplay and focusing on specific objectives is much more important and impactful than trying to headshot everyone.
Was* much more a moba. OW2 nerfed the moba aspect pretty hard
OW is 60% positioning, 30% teamwork, 10% mechanical skill
It wasnt just headhshotting tho, every hero almost could do it, I mean some couldnt, they made alot of heros so some were misses but like genji isnt just headshotting people when genjis were getting into backlines and killing everyone, nor was tracer, hanzo was but it was much more effort than widow, because hanzos would be parkouring around while doing it or junkrat just massacred your entire team solo off one really good play.
