Carly has been eligible for the RRHOF for well over 20 years. If this induction had happened a decade or two ago like it should have, Carly would have been able to share and enjoy it with her siblings and others who have now sadly passed on. It has been a bittersweet time for Carly who sadly lost both of her sisters three weeks ago.
Totally agree. I didn't thumbs up this post due to the sad passing of her sisters or the passage of time, I liked this comment because it's spot on that this recognition, support and induction should have occurred a long time ago!
She doesn't belong in the RRHOF, she doesn't play Rock and Roll. Never has. It shouldn't be called the RRHOF, it should be called the Music Hall of Fame as so many that don't play Rock music have been inducted. It's stupjd.
I guess the arena of the awards system came under “ it must have been his town”, I’ve always thought Carly was overlooked because the music scene seemed to kiss Jame’s butt. I love his music, I don't care for the man or his ego. Just my opinion. I’m very saddened to hear of Carly losing all of her family not including her children and grandchild. I know she loved her family very much.
So happy that Carly Simon FINALLY got inducted into the RRHOF but in my opinion this should have happened a LONG time ago! I thought Taylor Swifts comment (who is known for her break up songs) named Carly Simon's "You're So Vain" as THE best break up song ever was fantastic! And no one sings Carly Simon songs like Carly herself. She just has that distinctive voice that I think is one in a million! And I am so sorry to hear about your sisters but I'm sure that they are both so proud of you and the accomplishments you have made and are now looking down upon you and just smiling from ear to ear for you! Congratulations Ms. Carly Simon!
Congratulations to this icon, the talented, beautiful, soulful Carly Simon. Although decades late, hopefully this recognition will introduce her music and songwriting to new generations. Her voice and persona remain unmatched. Also, condolences and blessings to Carly Simon and her family 💜
I "Waited So Long" for Carly to get inducted into RRHOF, but they waited too long and it wasn't possible for Carly to be there. Shame on the Hall for taking so long. What the hell! I am one of her fans who even named my daughter, Carly, after my favorite singer of all time. The best thing is that her music will always live on for both of my daughters to enjoy personally. Thank you Carly for being a the beautiful, humble, brilliant person that you are, and for the special place that you have in my life.
one of the most underrated vocalists in the history of music...she flew completely under the radar. And look where she ended up. "Why" (extended version) is my favorite tune of hers..
What takes them forever to get it right? I've seen younger artists. Who haven't accomplished much yet. Get inducted. Get it right. These artists have paid their dues. A long time ago and are legends. They deserve better treatment.
This year’s induction class and ceremony was one of the best I can remember. The recipients and presenters were pure class and so respectful. I really appreciate the absence of political statements and the consistent reminders that music is about bringing people together. The finale with Dolly Parton singing her classic “Jolene” along side Judas Priest, Simon LeBon, Pat Benetar, Annie Lenox, Pink, Sheryl Crowe, Brandi Carlisle and the Zac Brown Band was priceless and further confirmed why the Queen of multiple music genres and philanthropy belongs in the RRHOF! The entire audience was on their feet with Lionel Ritchie, the Edge, and some of RR’s most epic performers gleaming with respect. Well done guys!
Apart from her amazing TALENTS as a creative songwriter… What gets me EVERY TIME listening anyone of her performances is Ms Simon sounds EXACTLY the same LIVE as her record recordings and vice-versa; NO TWEAKING or AUTO-TUNING just pure NATURAL unaided TALENT..!!! TRULY AWESOME..!!! 😍❤️😍
Long Overdue! Congratulations to our beautiful Carly! Thank you for the irreplaceable, remarkable memories & for sharing your talents, and.. keeping the courage to be on stage. You are a National Treasure indeed.❤
Finally - What the hell took so long? Carly has always been the epitome of class, grace and beauty. Her talent as a singer and a songwriter speak for themselves, apparently no was at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was listening. I've had a hugh crush on Carly since I was 12 years old! No I'm not biased.
Had the incredible luck (and joy) to see her on the Boys in the Trees tour in the 400 seat Bottom Line in the Village...what an incredible show (yes, James came out, and David Sanborn was on Sax....)...she is the consummate performer and her live work is incredible
I was there as well. One of the best evenings in my then young life. She was in magnificent voice and totally charming. She is seriously one of our most underrated artists.
Waiting a looonnnggg time for her to be inducted in the RRHOF ...and then loss of family members cancel her appearance. I'm so sad. But grateful that she got her due recognition.. carole king last year, carly simon this year. At least, they are still around to acknowledge the honors that took SO LONG to be given to them.. carly we love you.
Carly Simon should have been inducted decades ago. She is iconic. The rock hall is a joke with some of the clowns 🤡 they chose before her and many others who are worthy...
Sometimes it takes longer, look how long it took Kiss , Yes and the Cars. The last of bands missing out of the Rock n roll hall of fame is ridiculous. Blue Oyster Cult isn't even in yet. Carly Simon deserves it though ,she music brings back memories of when I was young. I'm happy Olivia Rodrigo performed her song for her too.
This was a very cool tribute to Carly's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction and she definitely deserves all of the accolades for her remarkable songwriting career!

Carly, I know you have been nervous about live appearances which is sad because you are and have been nothing but a beautiful, talented artist. Just amazing. We you audiences have been nothing but great full for the many performances. You are appreciated and well loved. When you make an appearance you are truly with family. Be at peace.
Nobody does it better than Carly that is for sure. That vocal she recorded for "Your So Vein" was so dynamic vocally. Her voice cut through the heart of the listener for sure. So prominent and Strong. Although Rodriguez tried to deliver, it was an honest performance at best. Nice to see young singers at least try to keep up with the ones that carved the way.
Kind of ironic that carly was herself considered a mid-level talent back in the day. the kind of artist that appealed to a lot of wine drinking middle class Housewives... put her next to a joni mitchell or a linda ronstadt and you can see why.
The first song I remember hearing by her was Jesse. I was 5 we had the 45 and I played it all the time. Then I heard other songs by her and loved her music. If she ever came out on tour I would sell my arm and leg to see her.
Long overdue and well deserved. Congratulations Carly 👏👏. Although it has been revealed that You’re So Vain is about Warren Beatty, the “son of a gun” whispered line referred to bassist Klaus Voormann for his bass intro of the song.
