I really really like how honest always Carl is. And I also like the differentiation he always does between a flagship (boring haha) device and the rest of the options. I'm on the same page.
I like how Carl pointed out things the average person would likely never notice like the camera module surround that meets the frame initially looking one piece but actually is two pieces meeting together or the mis-aligned volume rocker button and vibration slider. I also appreciate his assessment of the OS and little things that reflect the OS's origins being Chinese and how certain things like the clock and having space to write out Chicago but chose not to. I'm very interested to see Nothing's flagship device later this year cause if Carl can obsess over small details on the Phone 1 like how fast apps open and close, minor details that a large OEM would never think twice about then I'm excited to see with much better hardware, how much better that experience can be.

In all honesty, OnePlus did really shot itself by leaving the buttery smooth OxygenOS experience. So unfortunate and impossible to understand why a company would kill its USP
@@Lionsheartification and thats ur opinion mate. Like he said , some people might like it. U are some people xD . But for reals, as an oxygen os enthusiast, i don't like color os at all.Just a personal preference thats all
@@Lionsheartification problem is most of the features are actually gimmicks. You might use them once or twice every 2 weeks but mostly you don't. However these features degrade the phones reliability. Doesn't matter what brand it is, customizability almost always ruins reliability because quite frankly they are counterintuitive, atleast from a coding standpoint. I used to love customization till a few years ago (vivo funtouch, oppo color os, miui etc) but they came with way too many bugs.
@@SAK.124 This is just my personal opinion, and I respect yours, but I find it hard to support this viewpoint when operating systems that don't offer as many features aren't offering a more reliable experience. Switching from a Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro to a Galaxy Z Fold 3 when it was $1000 off on Amazon Prime Day was one of the worst decisions I've made. Samsung's One UI lacks so many basic features that I've taken for granted on my Mi 10 Pro and the lack of any appreciable aesthetic design flair makes the whole experience very boring and unpleasant to use. I have the top-specced Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Samsung's UI still frequently stutters and bugs (including a camera bug where the camera will just randomly crash or will not load and after a few seconds show an error message saying "Couldn't connect to camera") even when I'm not using any folding phone features. The lack of native customization means you have to use buggy and ill-suited third party options that have questionable support, and it means certain features, if you're lucky, can only be turned on or off and not modified. I'm stuck with the Z Fold 3 because it supports US cell bands which was the main reason I switched off of my Mi 10 Pro which has poor US support, but if there was a hypothetical Xiaomi phone with decent US support, I would switch to it.
@@Lionsheartificationit will look boring for those who like extremes but these days as Carl always says, phones just need to be reliable nowadays, lag free. Customization is not really sought after by the majority, and that majority is really growing in numbers year by year.

The bug you mentioned in the apps menu scrolling to home screen is not mentioned by any TH-camr in the entire youtube.I think you should make a TH-cam channel because the details you share is really relevant to get a good user experience .
That's not an issue with the OS. It's a restriction with the ColorOS launcher. The launcher thinks you want to remain in the app drawer that's why it doesn't let you close it. But it technically takes 1 edge swipe or bottom swipe to close it. So it's not as much of a huge deal as Carl makes it look like. Every launcher has some annoyances of their own. Even Nothing Launcher has many annoyances.

@@The_MEMEphis I don't mean trashing other companies.. but the approach and the eye Carl has for certain things..
At this rate , fast forward to nothing phone 4 release, it will be bigger than Xiaomi
@@TechthroughToni hes really not that special he's just a little more down to earth and socially active compared to most CEOs if you watch actual reviews for the nothing phone it's not special at all other than the LEDs which most people will cover with a case anyway hes just really good at making it seem better than it is
If this was an interview, he cracked it with flying colors.. Totally honest, well engaging review, he knows there is no point lying and fooling consumers as they know in and out of a product these days... So he was just being objective and honest, full marks!!
i like how he's honest about it even while putting it against his own product.
Hats off to Carl!
Such a great inspiration man! 😌
Being a user of Nothing phone 1 and efforts you guys are putting in every update to polish the experience and reduce bugs and issues I really appreciate the efforts of Nothing brands
I hope every industry focuses on consumer satisfaction and polished product.
I really really like how honest always Carl is. And I also like the differentiation he always does between a flagship (boring haha) device and the rest of the options. I'm on the same page.
This was fun. Good to see Carl check out work his done before. Definitely would like to see him check out other phones too.
Really respect the honesty and simplicity Carl, keep up the great work 👍
"Because doing Nothing is consuming my time...." is a valid go-to excuse I'd use from now on 😂😂
I liked that he learns from competitors and tries to develop his products
Man this is such a fun channel. Feels like a friend.

This guy has to be the coolest, most chill CEO I've ever seen
Perfectly explained that Carl. I miss those days that gave us devices like OnePlus 7, 7 pro, 6T etc 🥺🥺
I swear! I am now going to switch from my 6T. Thing is flawless even after 5 years of destructive usage.
@lowkingtv8669 Well I have come a long way since I used to have OP 7.
On my iPhone 14 plus ( primary)
Moto Edge 40 ( secondary)
iPad 8 gen ( 128 GB) with Apple pencil
Airpods 3
A lenovo ideapad laptop worth 700$
Im still using my 6t after thrre years. Even got smashed in a car door and stilk works fine.
Carl is one of the best CEO i have ever seen.
How many ceos have you seen? Name any three tech ceo besides him

Not hugely into phones but really interesting to see Carl’s opinions here.
Like what he said, don’t know of any other situation where a CEO reviews competitors products.
I’m a fan 👍
I love how he compartmentalised the phone recommendations between objective and subjective thoughts. That’s a genuine person. He is trying to sell his product, but doesn’t wish everyone should own his product. I am not a user of Nothing, more of a Pixel/iPhone person. But willing to give it a try when their flagship comes in. All the best team!
im glued to buying iphones out of habit because they're what i'm used to, but i've always had sm respect toward Nothing's approach to marketing and reviewing other products! so cool
Such a great honest opinion and amazing way to promote Nothing at the same way in a very cleaver way. Love those series and looking to see more
This guy is so humble and honest about all products. Wish you work again with OnePlus team
I need to say how much I appreciate you man! You do a lot for us people! You have a great ideas and a great product! You have a lot to do but always Keep believing in the way you are going, improve and update your products because they are amazing and there is no end to perfection we just enjoy every product of yours! Thank you!❤
Hey Carl one small request you can keep the same design for nothing phone 2 but just add a telephoto lens and better processer rest all is good. 🙂
Well said
Totally agree 👍
U r right brother
Pikka pikka
Absolutely correct
In all honesty, OnePlus did really shot itself by leaving the buttery smooth OxygenOS experience. So unfortunate and impossible to understand why a company would kill its USP
Not sure why people like stock and oxygenos so much. I find both really boring and lacking features
Customization is not really sought after by the majority, and that majority is really growing in numbers year by year.

nobody ever talks about pricing hats off
hoping he telling the real price thou
The review was worded carefully and very well...
props to Carl
Big brain moves from nothing
Keeping this "close relationship" with the consumer even if its by means of videos like these is definitely gonna be a huge factor on their future image and what they're known for. I like it
Interesting to see someone of his stature review his competitors' products
Could never love Carl any more than I already do.
I’d love to see him review the Pixel 7. The main competitor to his phone.
he said all things i wanted to say ! and he was co founder of oneplus reviews it and just being honest ! i really appreciate him and hope nothing gets better with the camera and performance ! i really wanna work in his company @nothing and with him !!! respect
His attention to details makes me wanna buy a Nothing Phone. He knows what's important.
I love how honest Carl is. Great dude.
Nothing From Day 1 had started Trends ....Now reviewing Competitors product 🔥🔥🔥
@@dragonforcegaming7555 i'm pretty sure carl said "it bugs me" not "this is a huge blow to user experience as a whole"
@@dindunk most people would treat the 2nd one as Carl's thoughts.
I was so happy he said this because this annoys me every day. You get used to it but it's weird behavior.
The OnePlus 7 Pro had the best front camera I loved the pop-up and was so sad to see it go only after one year....
I was a die heart fan of OnePlus before and i actually want to shift on nothing second generation so its my humble request to add a alert slider button on next generation .. because its a very helpful in day to day life and its a key point of every oneplus user thats it has alert slider ..please its a humble request to you to add this alert slider .
Don't shy away from these reviews carl! Makes you very unique😌
We want some things from next update
1. Pitch Black Color in Dark mode which enhance battery 🔋 life
2. the colors of screen still fill like use normal lcd panel insted of oled panel so nothing team could do work on it.
3. Rebuilt or introduce your own Call(Phone) app and the worst part is the UI interface while calling
4. Maybe sometime camera shutter button
stuck while capture photos... so work on it
5.customisation option available for notification icon color background because it's too limited
He’s so honest and downright💯cool guy. He’s so different compared to other Tech CEO’s in a good way.
If Nothing had a proper flagship available, I would have definitely considered it. Carl seems to value the same things I do: reliable phone, great every day performance, focus on the little things. Hopefully they become successful in the near future, I wish them all the best!
I remember how Carl poured his hard work. The OnePlus 1 was such an effort to get, because it was that good. Now, it looks like as if he has made it available for all. But I love Nothing phone, I am waiting for the next Nothing Phone.
That was Pete Lau's work not his. Carl Pie didn't do much during the times of OnePlus 1. His main works were during the times of OnePlus 6
@@dragonforcegaming7555 thank you for correcting me.
@@dragonforcegaming7555wasn’t 6 the best one plus ? I remember hearing Carl did a lot from one plus 4-6 and after 7 the company went to shit. 8 was prolly the last best one plus even tho 8 wasn’t all that great.
@@Lord_ofcinder nah that one with the pop-up one was the best oneplus(can't remember the number, most prolly it was 7). Oneplus turned to shit since they began their useless partnership with Hasselblad in Oneplus 9. Carl started doing a fari amount of work from the times of Oneplus 6. What a review man, No misconducting, just as pure review, dont bother about nothing as ceo, just gave honest

I actually love this. And the honesty behind it, the way he points out the flaws in OnePlus and the flaws in his own company really shows how well he’s able to reflect, it’s gives me great hope in the Nothing phone. This is great marketing indeed, but also shows great potential towards Nothing as a company. 👍
