I am retired and I used to live in Plymouth Indiana I just recently moved back to logansport Indiana and I remember fishing on my own struggling through fishing for low steelhead and I might get lucky a time or two but I just happened across this video so right away I had to save like and subscribe this is one awesome video I love it!!
That foamy stuff on the top of the water is probably the effluent from Elkhart, South Bend, and Niles. Just saw a statistic that said most of the fish caught in the US should not be eaten.
That looks like one of my old spots in Bering Springs Michigan. I know that area very well. I live in TX now. Grew up on the st Joe. Steelhead and king salmon are nocturnal. Fish for them at night with glow in the dark wobble glows, and hold on.
Amen, I lived on and or near the St. Joseph river for nearly 30 years. I spent many a cold Oct - Jan. on the river luring in Kings, Steel-head, and Brownies. At one point (15 yrs old), brought in a 36.08# king on a spinning reel with 14# test line. I was just short of any records, but it was quite an accomplishment to me.
I used to fish there in Berrien Springs , Shamrock park ramps. Sometimes fished with Dwight Gillette through Shamrock Charters 1980's through late 1990's . I always wondered how the lake perch fishing near the mouth of the river would be by the lake front. I loved fishing there and often thought about moving there some day.
Best trout I've caught was on my fly pole in Montana. The Spring was melting snow and we had a lot of flooding. I just used a worm and let it drift way down the river and when I pulled up I had him. It was a 2.5lbs Rainbow trout. Now I'm in AZ fly fishing for bass lol always fun on the fly.
9 foot ultra sensetive rod will do just fine with 8 pound spider wire mono line. Best to use is skane steelhead and salmon love that it's their chocolate. Make sure you get the green line to match the water.
Was here today and got skunked tried blue fox #4 #3 blue fox hot n tots floating maxi jigs 1/4 Oz 2/5oz and 2/3oz little Cleo's and nothing lol any tips? We were in the same exact spot as this lol ran the run behind the log.
The Fisher Brad That is awesome to hear. I’ve been pinning since 1995, I’m used to it by now. I’m glad to hear you got one as well. Can’t wait to see it in action.
The Salmon run is getting ready to happen on the st joe .....do you have some tips , like were hubby and I could fish from the bank to catch some ? I have been hounding him to take me for so long and I want him to see the fishing in Michigan can be awesome !!
I use to tie flies for them as well. Research the "Egg Sucking Leech" pattern. It's a amazing drift fly on a 3 way swivel. Short drop on 3/8 weight and a 10ft leader with the leech. Any questions just ask. I fish for a living chasing blue marlin .
Thanks for this great video FB & Adam. I just moved to this area and have a couple questions if you can answer that would be terrific. I have been using #4 Gamakatsu Octopus Circle Hooks with a bead. Is thast a good size for this river/area? When do the Steelhead return? Seems like it should be very soon. Thank you
Nice vid. I'm hoping to catch my first steelhead and salmon this year. what reel size should I use? I have a 9ft medium heavy rod with Sierra 4000 reel.
1 adventure at a time you’ll have to look up the regs for each individual river that you will be fishing, most of the rules can be found in the 2019 fishing guide book
Now that fish at 11:30 or so was a damn nice steelhead.

Josh Makes Movies this was yesterday afternoon
Lol those are tiny. Maybe I’m spoiled being from the coast of Oregon but man, those aren’t even big enough to be considered steelhead here.
Float fishing for venison
Tim P. Don’t think I’d be able to reel in the venison with 6 lb test😂
@@thefisherbrad That would be one hell of a fight haha
