    CLIP DESCRIPTION:
    Ace (Robert De Niro) confronts Lester (James Woods) and a humiliated Ginger (Sharon Stone) at a coffee shop. Two thugs beat the hell out of Lester.
    FILM DESCRIPTION:
    The inner-workings of a corrupt Las Vegas casino are exposed in Martin Scorsese's story of crime and punishment. The film chronicles the lives and times of three characters: "Ace" Rothstein (Robert De Niro), a bookmaking wizard; Nicky Santoro (Joe Pesci), a Mafia underboss and longtime best friend to Ace; and Ginger McKenna (Sharon Stone, in a role she was born to play), a leggy ex-prostitute with a fondness for jewelry and a penchant for playing the field. Ace plays by the rules (albeit Vegas rules, which, as he reminds the audience in voiceover, would make him a criminal in any other state), while Nicky and Ginger lie, cheat, and steal their respective ways to the top. The film's first hour and a half details their rise to power, while the second half follows their downfall as the FBI, corrupt government officials, and angry mob bosses pick apart their Camelot piece by piece.
    CREDITS:

    Cast: Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci, James Woods, Sharon Stone
    Director: Martin Scorsese
    Producers: Barbara De Fina, Joseph P. Reidy

Honestly, even Sam/Ace didn't need his mafioso associates and connections to handle Lester. Ace was nowhere near or resembling a tough or hard guy. Frank "Lefty " Rothensal himself admitted he was farthest from a tough guy or strong guy. But if he wanted to Ace could've taken Lester himself. Lester was a spineless weasel at heart, but why get his hands dirty roughing up a lowlife pimp being the casino's front man when you have mob muscle to handle the light work and send a message? I think Ginger was Ace’s bet. He was able to predict so many things but he wanted to take a chance with ginger. Subconsciously wanting to be the sucker like the many gamblers that entered his casino

    • @vibovitold
      @vibovitold 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Agreed. I think the same. I think that's the interpretation that makes the most sense. Ace was a gambler at heart. The underlying message is that the house (which could be seen as a metaphor for fate in general) always wins. You either run the casino or you're a player, but players lose in the long run. They may try to cheat, but they'll lose either way. Like Nicky gambled, cheated, and ultimately lost - beaten with bats, not with a hammer, but lost all the same. That's the theme of the movie.
      In one of the last scenes, where the bosses tie the lose ends, they discuss whether to kill off one of the guys (I forgot the name). They're all against it, but they ask the main man Remo (who decides to kill him nevertheless). He could've said anything to the same effect. But he just asks: "why take a chance?"

    • @OmegaZero0930
      @OmegaZero0930 ปีที่แล้ว

      @vibovitold It was Andy Stone. The irony with that was Remo was a terrible gambler with the exception of Ace making his bets, yet wouldn't take a chance on Andy keeping quiet despite everyone else saying he wouldn't talk.

    Oh man, to be in infatuated with a emotionally unavailable woman who's also destructive is the most horrible feeling. I was once and it took me 4 years and getting back together which ultimately failed to finally get over her for good. To this day I thank God that I'm finally free of her. It truly was a miracle.
