    I'm looking at videos wondering about buying a OneWheel.
    I own a modified Crazy Cart and gotta agree - RANGE changes everything. I was only able to get ~5km and never really had lots of fun on it, never explored. Eventually bought a battery that did 20km/charge and off I went exploring, commuting, taking long sunset drives along the coast. It changed everything.
    Consider learning how / paying for interchangeable batteries or a backpack battery - whatever you need to get more range.
    Happy riding everyone!

    I love how the Pint is so much more agile and squirrelly then the XR when it comes to carving. After my first year with it I noticed my range dropped from 12km on average to 6-8km. As soon as I brought my psi up to around 35 though, I started getting sixteen kilometres on it! I’m a pretty big dude, and I often push it to the limit too, averaging 27-30kmh for most of my ride. I by no means take it easy on my pint, but it still holds up amazing. So if you’re having range troubles, try increasing your tire pressure, it was a simple solution that helped me and now my board is able to make even tighter turns. This being said, it is a little more difficult now to balance at a stand still on it.

      @@ShinyRare it’s pretty difficult to balance on it at a complete standstill and it is definitely more wobbly when riding, so not ideal for trails, but I’m pretty sure the tire can handle up to 60 psi? Don’t quote me on that, but it should say on the tire itself.

      @@JakeBlackstaffe So like yourself I started with the Pint, and I love it. I grew up skateboarding so to me the Pint was like the perfect size for something like this. But I was feeling the range anxiety and bit of fomo, so I caved and picked up an XR. It took a bit, but honestly I pick up the XR more now. At first if felt really big and less refined, but the more I ride it, the more I just love it. It just feels solid and like it's got my back, if that makes sense. Like a tried and trusted kind of feel to it. I don't ride any faster so it's not about the speed, but it's just such a great board. That said I pick em both up often enough. To boot around the block, pickup the mail or go grab something from the store the Pint is perfect due to its size and nimbleness. It's nice to not lug the XR around if you're running errands. So yeah, long story short. My go-to is the XR, but the Pint hasn't lost its place by any means. I fully suggest having both!

    • @Joe_Andrus
      @Joe_Andrus 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh by the way, 10km does sounds like it's on the low end. So it could be your speed. I've come close to getting 20kms range on a charge riding around 18-19km/hr. I try to give myself a bit of a buffer before pushback speeds. Typically I think I'm getting 16-17km range on average. Couple things you may or may not have checked. Check your PSI (should be 10x your body weight) and your riding mode. I think Skyline will drain the battery faster so you could try Pacific. Maybe try to rebalance your cells by leaving it plugged in for 24hours or whatever they recommend and I've also swapped my tire with a Burris x Float Life Xtra Rad tire and I think that also helps to squeeze a little more range. Great vids man. Cheers from Ontario!

    After 3 months riding (around 450 miles) I find my distance just dropped drastically. So I decided to do a test run. Today was my first test. A lot of parameters, but in a nutshell I went 9.6 miles using Redwood. With gear the weight was 196 lbs, 20 psi. I used to get at least 10 and near 12 miles in the early days. The other day, I didn't even get 5 miles. But that was a lot of grass riding, and tech practice. My next attempt will be the same track using Pacific. I believe one of the things that has effected my distance, however has been my riding style. I ride more aggresive, and don't ride Redwood anymore.

  • @caramelzappa
    @caramelzappa 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I'm in a similar boat having had the pint for a year. I'm just now starting to realize I'm have a better time if I just drive to a location and float from there. Have you checked out the 3rd party battery upgrades? I get the lower end of the range too, and I think it's mostly a function of weight and speed. I way a bit over 200lbs and I expect most riders closer to 150lbs are getting closer to the upper limits of range. But if you look at stuff like the chibatterysystems quart or other upgraded batteries, you can get XR-like range on your pint for $400 instead of going all-in on the XR. From what I'm seeing this is the best way to go value-wise. XR range + pint weight and portability is the best of both worlds for several hundred dollars less than the XR.
    I'm an outlier in that I had the XR before I had the pint and sold it recently, keeping the pint. It was certainly more powerful and rode further, but I didn't feel like it was enough to justify being twice the price. I'm waiting now for an updated version of the XR to see if OW can bring more value to it. But right now it just feels too expensive next to EUC's for the same price with double the top speed and range.

    • @JakeBlackstaffe
      @JakeBlackstaffe  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ya a few people have mentioned these after market batterys. Are they safe for the board? Like am I going to hurt my electrics?

    • @caramelzappa
      @caramelzappa 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JakeBlackstaffe They should be just as safe as the stock battery. Same voltage/current specs as the stock battery, and they use the stock BMS. They're just higher capacity. The only downside is that the app stops measuring battery % correctly. It'll read as 0% when you hit half-charge, so you have to go into board info and look at the voltage to approximate you're actual battery life/range.

      Is pint still worth it in 22? Considering buying used one for 400 with under 200 miles. Do you think I should go for it?

    • @caramelzappa
      @caramelzappa 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@janjaf844 $400 for a pint sounds like a good deal to me. A cheap way to get into onewheeling. Then if you decide you like it, you can figure out if you want to upgrade the battery or sell it and get a bigger model.
      The range on the pint is pretty limited, but especially when youre first starting out your feet tend to hurt before the battery gives out.
