- I'm still waiting for my Pint to ship. In the meanwhile, I'll test out Ryan's Pint. Stress testing the new Onewheel Pint is no easy business. Ryan Smith of Carbon Smith shows me his upgrades to his new Pint and then we take it out for some extreme testing on paths, trails, and hills.

Owning the pint for a few days I have to say I don't like carrying it by the handle and having no good grip on the ends means I use all my grip strength if I pick it up that way just to be sure I'm not going to drop it.
Definitely would be a welcome addition to have a handle there. I did 3D print a plate with a bit of an extra lip. I think a cutout like on Ryan's print would be even better.

I've got a question for Ryan;
I was checking out your Carbon Shield XR Front Bumper on your website, and you have a customizable option. It would be really cool to see almost like a horn hooking back over your lead foot like a flight fin from the front. Locking in the front foot from coming off the nose, and making tricks a breeze, at least in my head. Haven't seen anything like this, just an idea. .
What do you think?

I was hard on Jimmy some videos back for not having a reasonable amount of protection for him and his kids. I got hit by two cars, one going across a crosswalk on walk sign and the other was a door dash bastard in a gated community. You just never know what could happen so dress for it. Both times I was wearing a full-face motorcycle helmet and every joint and shoulder were covered in G Form under clothes armor. The stuff is awesome. Never broke a bone on nose dives or cars. My jaws intact because I wear full-face an not those brain buckets that everyone thinks will save their face in a nosedive or random shit.

When I get my pint I'm going through this guy for upgrades.
IMO having ridden both I personally like the feel of the Pint (the way it "carves" and turns) Waaaaay better. When I get on my XR now I feel like i'm on a damn log. I hope the next OneWheel is a Pint with more range and a bit brighter LEDS for night riding.
How heavy are you? I’m looking to get one and I thought about the pint but I like faster speeds, does the pint feel slow at all?, does the pushback engage too early? I didn’t want to get the pint and regret not getting the xr
@@truek1ng7 yes actually the push back starts at 14 mph. That is my main complaint with it. Other than that the pint, IMO, is better in everyway. Well besides the Distance. I weigh 165 and I get about 10 miles per battery charge. The tire psi is set at 21 lbs.
Would have jumped on those CS wheeled bumper for my XR but couldn't get over the sticker shock even with the Jimmy discount, $50 mini fangs will get me by for now

Geez,man. What do you do for work? Props to you for doing so well to where you're able to provide for the family and enjoy the finer things. I finally just got a foot in the door and making great income myself. Paid off my car, got a great savings together, and to celebrate I bought a pint lol. Next up is the XR.

Those aren’t Fangs, so thats just a nose wheel drag. Fangs have bearings.

Your kids are adorable man. Your smallest on the pint looked like a good combo. For them having to wrestle with the larger XR seems daunting tbh.
I think acceleration is the Key. Beginner mode has less acceleration and torque, therefore it takes longer to reach pushback speed... Nice video guys. Keep wheeling!
What they don't mention is how expensive those parts are! 250$ for those "fang" front wheels.... I can't wait to buy one, but that's a bit much. Great video though
Check out the fangs bumper from landsurf much better product and price.
@@lukeo85 I’m still waiting on my board so I can’t speak from experience but I’d think Ryan’s fangs are better than landsurf’s bc his wheels are larger and stick out farther. Landsurf’s fangs are smaller which would be less effective on trails or rough terrain. Landsurf is definitely much cheaper though even though they don’t have the integrated handle or mirror.
austin d if you want to ride trails then get smiths bumper. Mind that its 3d printed while the landsurfs one was molded plastic with smaller tire.

So, I need help. I don’t know if I want to get a XR or a pint. I’d love to ride on trails, and have a long battery and go fast. But, on the other hand id probably just ride on the sidewalk a lot. But is want the choice to still ride off road. BUT I’m young and don’t know if I should get the smaller one, or the bigger one. I’d have a lot of fun on both, but I can only get one. Which one should I get? I don’t want to spend a million dollars for something that sucks. Is buying the XR worth it? Or should I just get the pint? HELP idk what to do
It really depends on your lifestyle and how you ride the board. You can go quite far on the XR due to it's bigger battery but it'll cost you a lot more money. The biggest difference between the two boards is the range. So if you want less range anxiety and want to go farther, get the XR. If you want a smaller and more manageable board that has less range but a similar top speed, go with the pint. In the end, it's your decision bud! Good luck

I feel like by doing this it would stress out the motor. Also why are the wheels on the front so dang expensive? Are there any cheeper options.
beginner mode doesnt want you going too fast, which hinders the motor from pushbacking hard enough to prevent the nose drag

I feel like fangs minis (should have specified) could do that, but those wheels are bigger.

So curious what your thoughts are on the *BEST* front wheel for a full sized OneWheel XR? Fangs, or something else. Looks like those wheels Ryan has on the PINT work pretty well..wondering if those are food for the XR as well? Thoughts??
I have the Regular Fangs and the Fang Minis. I like the Fang Minis because they are less conspicuous but honestly, I have not tried them on a real nosedive. Ryan nose dragged the minis when he was on my board and they worked fine on smooth surfaces.

We do make a very nice bumper setup with wheels for the XR. Our wheels are wider and slightly larger so that they work on all types of terrain.
Like what would happen if the pint goes on gravel or off-road will the tire pop?
onewheel.. that's cool... I use to ride my, I used my brother's skateboard with the 4 wheels tho lol....it was when I was younger tho..but the onewheel looks like go more speed cool.. I would try that out...

The Pint and XR frames are both made from aluminum. The Pint is more well built than the XR and is an amazing deal at $950!

I don’t think I’ll find myself going over the range especially as I’m pretty light (120 pounds) there is not a single Onewheel XR that’s used for sale where I live for under 1600.... really just a lot of money for my first Onewheel, and I could get some fangs, side covers and still have a couple hundred. What do you think?

Do u think in ur opinion that a crossblend between the pint an the xr+ with the pint's special features will be made? An if so "hypothetically" would u suggest waiting for a more blended product? How is the ground clearance of the Pint bumper wheels compared to your XR bumper wheels?
I liked the XR bumpers, but the wheels were just a bit too big for my taste and would catch the ground on sharp turns. (like when turning a 180 turn on a narrow type sidewalk) will the Pint bumper wheels touch the ground in similar turns and angles as the XR?
Is it possible to move the wheels a little more to the center from the edge?
Thanks for your feedback! We found that with the XR Carbonshield it is best to ride in a custom shaping mode with the nose tilted up slightly to avoid hitting the wheels on steep turns. The Pint Carbonshield wheels are deliberately placed more toward the top of the board so that they do not stick down as much. If you compare the side view of the XR to the Pint bumpers you will notice the center of the wheel is about 10mm higher on the Pint version. This makes it more possible to maneuver around those tight turns. Riding with extensions on the board takes a little bit of practice and is different then riding a stock board.

I had a bad stack on my pint recently, did a front flip off the board and landed on my ass, pulled the muscle in my left leg, couldn't walk for a week etc.
I have a feeling it happened because i was unknowingly on the redwood setting after letting a friend test it out. I took off too fast and nose dived unexpectedly, fangs didn't help me either. I'm still a little nervous going fast on it now (even tho i have played around with fang dragging in the past without an issue)
How old were your kids when they first started riding the onewheel and how old are they now, I have a 4 yr old but thinking she is still to young for it.
Yeah. 4 is a little young. My kids have been riding for a year. Youngest started at age 8 or 9.
