I have this same model and experienced the same problem as described in this video. The unit is 10 years old. I assumed it was a carb problem. Bought a kit that included the carb, fuel filter, vent filter, plug, and air filter. It changed nothing. And no amount of adjusting the high speed mix screw made any difference. I cleaned the spark arrestor mesh. No change. Until I found this video. The exhaust port looked exactly like what is pictured in this video. Cleaned it up. Reassembled. Took a total of 45 minutes. This blower has not worked this well in years. It's like a new machine. Thank you Hank's Garage. I was ready to pitch the blower and spend another $250 plus tax at HD. Not anymore.
Bought this Echo Blower at a garage sale last summer for $20. The guy said it barely worked. It's been sitting in my shed for over a year and I've never give up on it. This video was the fix!!!! Thank you so much for this!! It worked and my $20 blower works like brand new again!!
Thanks for the vid. I did this after changing filter and spark plug. Still no go. It ended up being the fuel filter in the tank, which was original- about 7 years old.
I tried 10 different things- new carb, burned crud off spark arrester screen, new fuel, new filters all around…..cleaning the crud out of the exhaust port actually worked….!
Excellent. I have the same model with the same problem except mine dies after the throttle is pulled. I’m am going to try you solution. I installed a new carburetor, spark prig and put in new fuel. No difference.
Having that problem with my blower also, I will give that a try thanks Mate.😅👌 People actually throw their blowers away in the garbage when this happens...dummies 😅i just retrieve them clean them up and sell em
I had that trouble for the past 3 years took it in to shop they changed the carb under warenty and it still started doing the same thing right after. I fixed it by throwong it up in the air and watching it smash down on my patio a few times
Great video. I have a similar model that seemed to be gradually loosing top speed. Idles great, runs good overall but I can tell it's just not getting up to max RPM. Because it happened gradually I first thought it was my imagination but now I'm certain it is. I was thinking carb (might still be) but I think I'll look at the arrestor and exhaust port first. Didn't realize they could clog up like this.
Did this to my echo 251. Still bugs down when I give gas…?? New filters, spark plug,(spark arrestor is fine) fresh gas I don’t know what else to do… Help if u can thanks!
need to adjust the idle on it just fixed mine on same model…there is a brass insert located around the gas button that has a plastic plug inserted…remove that plug with a heated punchout after that run blower on idle and adjust to proper idle….it gets knocked around while operating and requires it to be done often

Glad it helped. Yea checking the mesh and then checking the exhaust port for build up is the 2 first things I’ll check.
Same here
You have helped so many thank you

Well presented, directly to the point, A+. I wouldn't have dreamed that was the problem. Now I can rev it up like a 4 barrel on a Chevy 327. Thanks
Thank you so much for helping me. This solved our problem running like a champ now.
Same blower with similar problem although it runs great after it warms up. I'll have to check on this on mine. Good blower, good video.
Hank thank you SO MUCH man. I did what you did and my blower is roarin like a lion! thanks again!
Thanks for the video, mine had the same problem! Tried working on carburetor thinking it was fuel issue nope, carbon! runs like a new one now! 👍

Thanks for the video. We did the same and it was successful.
Glad it helped you out

Excessive carbon build-up in the exhaust port...cleaned it , now it runs with full power. Thanks Hank
It’s a really common issue. Glad yours is working now 👍
Excellent diagnosis. I figured carb. problem. Great video. Thanks for sharing.
Super helpful. Found the little screen full of carbon. Score!
What do you think caused the build up?
Having that problem with my blower also, I will give that a try thanks Mate.😅👌

Nice little fix on that
I'm curious, did you encounter any problems getting those two bolts out that hold the muffler on? I've broken two bits cause they're on so tight.
I have a similar one with the same problem I will check mine to see how it works after cleaning
What caused this?
Never seen an exhaust port that bad. Great HG video
Most likely a rich fuel/oil mix caused this.
sounds amazing
Great job Hank he will be happy with that.

Need to tune the carburetor or replace it
@@hanksgarage_ I did tune it! Maybe cracked somewhere…
