      2028 END
      In my experience of previous eclipses, at the time of the Eclipse, everything will go very quiet as people stop what they are doing to watch it.
      There is a strange eeriness for a period of time.

      More total eclipse of intelligence and truth. The last total solar eclipse viewed from contiguous United States was on Feb. 26, 1979 and not 1918. There will be another in 2024----it is not such a rare occurrence especially taking in the whole spherical planet. The 70 mile wide band is a bit off because of the shape of the moon, the angle, and the height of the land. If anything, this proves that the sun would have to be at the very least, 100 times larger than the Earth and so could not fit within the fictional firmament. This is an end time sign alright, it foretells the end of the Earth in another 2.8 billion years.

    People in Alabama are going to Nashville to watch the eclipse. They said it will be 100% covered there. Our local news said we would still get 97%. I can't see driving the 2 hours to Nashville for 3%. That almost sounds like a Sprint commercial. Don't let 3% of darkness for a couple of minutes cause you a MINIMUM of a 4 hour drive without traffic.

    • @bpop6076
      @bpop6076 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      The difference between 100% and even 99% is huge. I know its only 1%, but you have to be at 100% to for it to get completely dark. I am driving 450 miles that day so I can be in 100%.

    • @BamaDan197319
      @BamaDan197319 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I understand what you're saying. They said that in places where it's 100% that it will get completely dark and the stars will come out. If that's what you wanna do that's OK. I just don't wanna drive that far to see it. I know 97% will be a big difference but it will still be cool to see how dark it actually does get in the middle of the day and being at home at the same time.

      @cyn37211 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Nashville tv stations are talking every night about all the traffic, etc. hotels are booked solid, & people won't be able to make it to work. We're the largest city in the path of totality, so it's gonna be a mess.

    • @BamaDan197319
      @BamaDan197319 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I figure there will be a massive traffic jam Monday evening after the eclipse. All the hotels are booked solid but you're gonna have people on the road that don't have anywhere to stay. Nashville will be completely dark for 2-3 minutes. After that everybody will try to head back home. I'm fine with 97.9%. They upped yesterday from only 97%. It won't be dark enough that the stars will come out here but it will still be something to see and by staying home I'll avoid the traffic jams. Takes a little over 2 hours to get to Nashville from here. Going back home after the eclipse would probably take 6 hours or maybe more.

    • @cyn37211
      @cyn37211 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      BamaDan197319 Tho roads will be totally gridlocked! There's a football game Sunday, & I think most people will stay for one of the watch parties. Also, it has rained every Monday this summer, so unless the weather patterns change the eclipse won't be visible.

    I was lucky enough to have been in Portland Oregon for the 1979 total eclipse. Watching it go from day time to night time and back again to day in just a few minutes is a most unique experience. While the show in the sky is the main attraction, be sure to take a few moments during totality to look around you. The animals may act unusual, such as birds that started the day only a few hours ago now returning to their roost for the night, only to have the sun come back again two or three minutes later. Perhaps the best way to describe a total solar eclipse is that it isn't so much an event you watch, but an event you experience!!

      @ Sage Wiser. An eerie experience, definitely. An altered state of mind experience, Nope. At least not to me. For Scott Oswald. Never heard of something called solar snakes. I would have liked to have seen the diamond ring, but I didn't have any eye protection for proper viewing. Also the the overcast day in Portland didn't help. A poor man's way of watching the eclipse before and after totality is get a cardboard box. To find the correct size box, turn the box upside down and put your head inside the box. The bottom of the box now becomes the top of the box. The side of the box in front of your face is now the front.The side behind your head is now the back and so on. The front of the box should be about 6 inches from your face. Now choose the left or right side of the box and place that side against your ear. If you chose the right side, then make sure the left side of the box is about 6 inches away from your left ear. Vise versa if you choose the left side of the box. You can now take your head out of the box. Only three more things needed to complete your eclipse viewing box. 1. a white piece of paper(6x6 inches should do nicely) 2. a piece of tape or glue. 3. something pointy like a nail, pencil or pen. (anything strong enough to poke a small hole in the cardboard box is fine)
      Now tape or glue the white piece of paper to what is the inside front of the box to the left or the right side of the front. The white paper will be the screen on which the image of the sun will be displayed. Now get your choosen sharp object and poke a small whole in the back of the box. BE SURE THE WHOLE LINES UP WITH THE WHITE PAPER (keep the whole small. about 1/4 inch in diameter) Sun light will now shine through the whole in the back of the box and cast an image of the sun onto the white paper. Remember to see the sun on the paper you have to face away from the sun . Practice for several days before the eclipse day getting the suns image focused on the paper so you don't loose time learning this during the eclipse. This should go with out saying, but please be sure your head is in the box while watching the eclipse. **many directions can also be found on the internet on how to make various kinds of pin hole eclipse viewers!

    No, there shouldn't be a traffic jam during the eclipse because everyone who is traveling to see it will already be where they need to be for the event. I would imagine it's probably going to be like a holiday weekend similar to Memorial Day or Labor Day.

      Erin Sullivan I live in Portland Oregon where traffic is already really bad. We have people coming down from Seattle, and coming up from L.A. I see on the news just about every day that Portland will have the worst traffic in recorded history because of this eclipse. I'm not surprised because Portland is already one of the worst traffic spots in America. I won't be surprised if bad things happen here

    I live in Chattanooga, Tennessee. We are barely outside of the path of totality. We will wind up driving north to a little place called Dunlap. The only thing I'm afraid of is the traffic. I'm hearing that up to 1.5 million people will be coming to Tennessee alone. I have a friend from McMinnville who says that Chinese tourists have bought every room in town and some people are even renting out their homes. If you have to travel to view it, make sure you have a full tank of gas and some food and water in your vehicle. Sounds like the roads will be jammed.

    I live in tiny town in Idaho along the path of totality close to Yellowstone. We are expecting a couple hundred thousand people coming into the area. Jackson hole is expecting close to a million. All these small towns don't have the resources to feed, house, and provide gas and water to all these people. Many farmers are renting out sections of fields for people to camp in. We are hoping that people come prepared with extra gas cans, water and food. The highways are expecting close a several hour delay and the airports will be over crowded due to the high number of people flying in from other countries. Needless to say, it's going to be crazy.

    I live in Salem Oregon and my uncle literally lives at the beach where the eclipse is said to start(Lincoln city) not only people from America are traveling to destination to see the eclipse but people from the world are coming to view it as well. It'll be a crazy amount of people who will see it and maybe those people will question the globe earth theory

    I live in Springfield, Missouri, and college friends are flying in from California. We're all staying with other college friends who live just outside Columbia, MO and their land is the highest point in Boone County! We've been looking forward to this for a year! Menus are planned, wine is purchased, and my eclipse playlist is downloaded and ready to go! We children from the age of aquarius and though all in our 60's now, we're gonna be hippies again for a day--can't wait!

    There are a lot of schools in and near the path of totality that have declared the day an inclement weather day because of the eclipse. I live just a few hours south of the path of totality, where we will get about 94% coverage. The school system I work for got eclipse viewing glasses donated from one of our local businesses. I'm super excited to go out with my 6th period class to view this once in a lifetime event with them.

      Selena; If at all possible, place yourself in the path of totality. There is absolutely no comparison with seeing a 99% solar eclipse to seeing it 100%!
      This will be my 8th....I'm driving 600 miles to make it happen. Even at 94% the day will be very bright and you would not realize anything was happening if you didn't look up. It is in the 90% to 100% when so many odd things happen which are almost impossible to describe, but must be felt and sensed.
      Good luck.

    I remember the total solar eclipse of 1979. I was 19 years old. I laid on my back in my backyard, used welding goggles & binoculars and looked up at the sun. And sure enough, the moon was directly over the sun. I remember I saw the sun's flames shooting out around behind the moon, just like they show on TV. That was a spectacular event!

    In the hope that this will clear up some of the misunderstandings I have read about the eclipse, I offer the following. FIRST the size of the moons shadow on the earth is 70 miles in diameter. That is why the path of totality is 70 miles wide. If you live or will be inside this 70 mile wide area you will experience darkness for two to three minutes.If you are not inside the path then you will only experience a partial eclipse and no darkness.The farther away you are from the path of totality, the less of the eclipse you will see. SECOND why eye protection glasses? Anyone who has tried to look at the sun with their naked eye for more than a few seconds on a sunny day knows how hard it is to do that. If you are outside of the area of totality, you won"t get any darkness and so eye protection is need to watch the whole eclipse. For those inside the area you will also need to wear glasses both before and after totality to look at the sun. During the two to three minutes of totality, special glasses don't need to be worn. THREE. The few minutes of totality is not the whole eclipse show. If you live in the USA (excluding Alaska & Hawaii) you will be able to see some of the show. FOURTH If solar or lunar eclipses were going to cause the end of the world. Us earthlings would already be LONG GONE.

Traffic going from Cheyanne to Glenrock was much lighter that I expected (probably most people had gone up days before). But the next day, after the eclipse was over, the drive back to Cheyenne, which normally would take 2-21/2 hours, ended up taking close to 7 hours.

    Concerning the Revelation 12 Celestial Sign on 9/23/17. The Star of Bethlehem had Returned on 6/30/2015 and was Visibly around for some time. The Last Time it was Visibly around was the Birth of Christ 2,000 years ago. Jesus is the Bright Morning Star and the Light of The World. :-) Where this Eclipse on 8/21/17 and the Next Eclipse 7 years later intersect is Carbondale, IL, which is called Egypt and Little Egypt.

    • @TIMEtoRIDE900
      @TIMEtoRIDE900 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Venus, the "morning star" is also known as Lucifer - - the Light Bearer.
      No "actual" Star can direct you to a particular city on Earth no matter how bright it is. If 3 Kings from 3 different kingdoms followed Rigel, for example, they would simply travel West until they hit water.

    • @JRT5573
      @JRT5573 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You are correct. As to "Lucifer": that is the KJV translation of a Hebrew word that was used to indicate the morning star. Translation into Latin then anglicized, it became Lucifer. It does not actually refer to the Devil but the King of Persia who, like other empire builders, took magnificent names to themselves often expressing their belief that they were gods. Isaiah prophesies that this king "which di weaken the nations" would someday be cast down ... and he was.
      The astronomy of the 1st Century recognized several types of small lights in the sky: Astra (what we call stars indicating the "fixed" lights in the sky which followed the same arc over the sky every night) planero (I can't remember the noun form, but that is the verb meaning "to wander") which was applied to the planets. The light which the Bible calls an "astra" and is properly translated star in all English translations I know of, but was not a "star" in the modern astronomical sense. But the writers of the NT had no better word to describe it. To do what the Bible says it did, it would have had to follow no predictable path in the sky as both the stars and the planets do, and it would have had to hang low enough in the sky that one could determine what was directly beneath it.
      The only conclusion at which one can arrive, if one takes the Bible literally (and I do) is that it was a light specially created by God for a particular purpose. So far as we know, there has been none like it at any other time. Attempts to find natural astronomical events that fulfill the Biblical description are fruitless.
      BTW, the men from the east were not "kings" but "magi,". Why the popular song calls them kings is a mystery to me. The KJV calls them "wise men" maybe out of a fear to identify what they actually were: magicians, but not in the sense in which we think of it. Science and religion were pretty much run together and the priest class was the most educated class in many societies. They researched what might be loosely called chemistry and astronomy but put religious significance on the phenomena they observed.
      In the case of Bethlehem's "star," they were correct.

    We drove from Elmira NY to Clemson SC on Sunday. I81 was a parking lot, we were at a dead stop on the highway at least 20 times, often not moving at all for 4-5 minutes, and then only at a crawl.
    There were similar slowdowns and stops on I 26, I 85 and again up I 81 coming home on Tuesday morning.
    Adding to the traffic hell, an accident between Blacksburg Va and Roanoke Va at around 2 PM Tuesday closed the interstate altogether. We were parked on the road for 2 1/2 hours, people turned off their cars (truckers shut off too) and there was an impromptu party, right there on the pavement of I 81 about 25 miles south of Roanoke. Try that on any given day.
    Traffic was bad enough, but that accident really made things bad. A normally 12 hour trip was 17 hours southbound on Sunday and 19 hours northbound on Tuesday.
    I asked a lot of folks I bumped into at truck stops etc and every last one of them said they were travelling to see the eclipse. We saw license plates from every state east of the Mississippi, New Jersey, New York and New Hampshire were particularly well represented. But we saw 'em all; Maine, Connecticut, Ohio, Pennsylvania... the entire east coast.
    At Clemson we saw plates from states south, Mississippi, Louisiana, Florida etc, but Monday was Convocation Day at Clemson so many may have been there delivering their children to school. (but not a bad trick for a convocation, eh? A solar eclipse to welcome you to Clemson? How cool is that!?)
    So yeah, traffic was incredible. I have never sat at a dead stop on an interstate highway before. But that trip down Sunday took the cake and will live in infamy. We averaged less than 30 MPH for over 380 miles on I81 between the West Virginia border and North Carolina. This on an interstate with a 70 MPH speed limit.

    Hello, I live in Kansas City, MO just 40 miles south of St.Joseph, MO which the weather channel said would be the MAXIMUM vantage point in the US for the eclipse. They are warning locals NOT to get out on Monday. They said parking would be at a standstill on the freeways.

    Ailill's in Charleston South Carolina for years, and you are right in thinking that it can be crowded very quickly. Even with just normal summer tourism it is already packed to the brand. So I'm sure this eclipse is going to really do some damage in the more tourist friendly parts of the state

    Just saw an ad on TV from Dept of Water and Power that the eclipse is going to GREATLY cut down the amount of power available, therefore they are asking that everyone please cut down on power usage and not use air conditioners at night but switch to fans. Seeing that scared me a bit as it makes it sounds like it is going to last for days. I don't remember ever hearing an announcement like this with any other eclipse....hmmmm

    I work for one of the largest piping companies in the Midwest. Drivers deliver parts and pipe everyday. I'm curious to how much longer their routes will take. Gonna be a crazy day for sure. Wish I could've gotten the day off :/ the vacation calendar was full for this day

    As long as Nebraska isn't cloudy, I will be lucky enough to get to see Totality. Just a few hours away. Enjoy, and feel the connection with the planets, for those who will be in the 70 mile path.

    The 1918 San Fermín earthquake, also known as the Puerto Rico earthquake of 1918, struck the island of Puerto Rico at 10:14:42 local time on October 11. The earthquake measured 7.1 on the moment magnitude scale and IX (Violent) on the Mercalli intensity scale. After an eclipse.
