      Well, now that's much more like what I felt. Maybe for some reason skin lived much more for your set. With the skin on they are quite grippy (more then magnums with skin I guess). Less grippy then Muir Podiums with skin though, these are absolutely the grippiest thing I ever skated :)
      What I realy liked about Maverick wheels also was feedback. No horrid noises and for some reason I felt more in control then on magnums while still feeling like riding a cloud.
      In couple of days I am going to try them out on quite different pavement. Going to see how it goes. I don't really like big wheels that much, but these are confidence inspiring. Would not take them there otherwise. I think they will not going to thane there that much (or at all), so I will also see about that.

      Yeah I think the skin lasted a while because I wasn't doing masssive slides. I think next time I will go to a spot that allows me to do that and I'll make an update.
      Let me kow how they feel oin that new pavement! Glad you liek them as well

      I tried them on cracky grainy tary (if that's the word) pavement. As I suspected, they did not leave any thane, even though speeds were quite high. They were perfect about cushioning vibrations and had grip about the same as magnums (had tried them there also) while I liked the slide feel from mavs more, but I was not brave enough to use them in the race because while I was training on that course, I had a feeling that they started to slide while I was carving down my speed. So I used more grippy wheels instead. Something like Cueis or Muirs were more safe for the race. I actually used Muirs with skin on and they slid like shit, but they slowed me down a lot.
      I did not chose mavs for the race there, but I would had gladly chose them on that road in any other circumstances.

    Don't you worry about thane lines, the Australian pavement is built different I swear

    Yep totally agree. At first grippy as all hell. Then a very fast freeride wheel.

    Can confirm bruz, my Mavs were way less thaney on Californian pavement than anywhere I’ve skated in Australia.

      They will likely thane more on Aussie roads because we use tar for the road surfaces which has more surface imperfections. The US tends to be more concrete based roads and will hold on a little better.

    Could you say something about wheel-bite - I am quite new to longboarding. I adjusted my board (Rayne Supreme 36") to the shortest wheelbase position and was surprised to find wheel-bite was easy to get if you tried at slow speed. You mentioned a couple of times that it is not such a problem at higher speed, I guess because you can't do such sharp turns, but it seems a bit risky?

    • @downhill254skate
      @downhill254skate  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah on that deck I'd be more worried than on a top mount. I'd adjust your trucks so it was a bit harder. Maybe a higehr angle in the front or some bushigns or washer combos.
      I may make a video on this. It will take a while cause I have a bunch planned already

      @@downhill254skate Thanks for that. I actually top mounted it which helps, and i quite like it that way for freeride/downhill. Got a drop through for pushing, not realising I would catch the freeride/downhill bug!
