Hi Phil, The guy in the tent actually watches narrowboat TH-cam videos. When we first went past him he shouted ‘is that Knobhead?’ Which is what we affectionately refer to Ethel (boxer dog) as in our videos. We stopped for a while and let him play with her on the towpath.
30 years on a narrow boat!!! I would become an alcoholic within 2 years.... Amazing.... The “stupid ducks” comment made me subscribe! Most boaters would call them cute, adorable and what not.
Nice vlog Phil! Cycling to the shops, opening and closing locks etc, all sounds like a good way to keep yourself fit. The scenery here is particularly nice, and peaceful
The roadways are clogged with shoppers on a frantic mission. It's Black Friday. And it's reassuring to know that not everyone is chasing their tale. Stellar video Phil! 🕊
Hi Phil great to see you again in a vlog. Swanley Bridge Marina we bought a boat from there. Not weirs Phil but bywash channels taking excess water in the pound above your lock. To dampen the channel if its too fierce simply open up a lock paddle to take it off. When you get to Wales buy yourself a " Welsh Pastie" twice the size of a Cornish one. Keep safe and dry.
Good vlog, thanks. We are off to the Llangollen next year (September) and haven’t been on a Narrowboat before. Hoping you’ll be doing the run from Whixall to Llangollen so are looking forward to watching you doing that stretch. We’ll be. Watching you do the locks very carefully!
Very enjoyable vlog , over you,re 30yrs on the canals what would you say was the biggest change you have seen ( facilities , number of boaters etc ? ) .
That was a lovely trip. I'm just trying to decide which way to head out in spring, either Llangollen or Macclesfield.....you may be tipping the balance😉
We were very excited to see that you actually catched us (the family on the Chas Hardern boat) on video while mooring at Swanley Marina ( th-cam.com/video/gbmfFmGzG9M/w-d-xo.html ). I am happy that we didn't act too embarassing. Besides a pumpout and fuel there was also a sign that you can get water if you happen to buy something (i.e. ice cream) in their little shop. Thank you for your videos! I wish you the very best. Greetings to you and your cats from the Donning family (and their cats) in Germany.
Nice video. Do you still feel excitement living on the canals after 30yrs as you once did and what changes do you see the next 10 years holding for living on the canals as they get busier? Good luck

I didn't see him to speak to. Just caught a glimpse as I went past on the way back.

Thank you. Ducks can be really nasty to each other sometimes as well. Welcome aboard!

Nice intro on this one, Phil :)
Thank you kindly
Thanks for that video... my (much) better half and I have a hire boat booked out of Chirk in June of 2020 and expect to be on that stretch of canal.
I'll be covering that area in future videos...

Thank you. Many more boats, fewer facilities given the increase in boat numbers. More stoppages due to failures of the system.
The Llangollen canal is fed by the river dee hence no shortages of water !
That was a lovely trip. I'm just trying to decide which way to head out in spring, either Llangollen or Macclesfield.....you may be tipping the balance😉
Thank you. I'd advise avoiding the Llangollen during the peak boating season, or at other holiday times. Too busy!

It's just the normal way of life for me now. I don't like it too busy though.
@@NarrowboatJourneys if more people are paying to be on the Canals maybe the old canals will be brought back??
