Sevilla is a fantastic city, never been to the bullring, strange and not so strange bull fighting never caught on in Portugal thankfully. Vast city to cover!
Nice video Nick looking forward to seeing next week's. I noticed towards the end you pronounced Seville like a Spanish guy a few times! 😉 We went to Seville last year from the Algarve and planned on staying just one night. Loved the city and extended our stay. Also went back again this year on a trip to the Algarve and stayed even longer. The worst part of both trips was the first 30 minutes driving those crazy narrow streets and finding parking. You did the right thing by taking the train the last part. We stayed in apartment a block from your hotel both trips. It's a great neighborhood within walking distance to most of the areas. The history, food, shopping and people were all amazing. The iberian ham is simply delicious. Much better than Italian prosciutto (which I love and have Italian heritage) We took a bike tour and got to learn a lot about the different areas in a few hours. I'd highly recommend making the trip and spending 2 nights.
Fantastic! Thanks for sharing your trip with us Larry. It certainly is worth the effort to get over there. Every time I discover more delicious restaurants and cool bars.
Just did same route in October. Took a taxi from Vila Real de San Antonio to Ayamonte and then took a bus from Ayamonte to Seville. Cheapest and easiest. I took a taxi in VRSA because I left early in the morning. If leaving later in the day, you can take a ferry. There is no bus direct from VRSA to Huelva. For people crossing the border first time, good to know there is no Inmigration stop, you just cross the river between Portugal and Spain. Also good to know there is a time difference to consider. As soon as you cross Spain you are one hour later. Nick, happy to see you are expanding your horizons/videos to Spain. To me Seville is one of the most magic cities in the world and I have travel extensively. But get lost with locals and local neighborhoods. Blend in in Andalusia. Andalusia is magical .
We were in Portugal in May for 2 weeks. While we were staying in Alvor, we drove to Seville and spent one night there. Beautiful city. Would definitely go back. We did find though that the people working at the restaurants were just not nearly as friendly as all the people we encountered at restaurants in Portugal and they really didn’t speak much English at all, which made it a bit challenging. Already in May, the daily temps were in the low 30s!
Right you are Nick & Nick. One of the key advantages of living in the Algarve IMHO is you are so close to a beautiful city like Seville and Spain in general. Different culture, different language, different food-and so close! 🍲 How can you go wrong? On our last trip to Tavira we took a 2-hour bus ride (non-stop) to Seville just to see if it can be done in a day. It can! We visited before and have no problem returning. So much to do and see. And YES…very hot. Temps were above 40-Celsius…brutal. Just don’t go the summer. 🥵 I’d recommend at least 2-days to visit Seville. And Madrid is only a fast 3 or 4 hours away by high-speed train-if you so choose. Bull fights? Never been. Not sure I would but thought bull fights also in Vila Franca de Xira near Lisbon. No? 🐂
Seville is best to just wander around for tapas and drinks. Love it! Been to corridas in both Spain and Portugal. The picador is the worst part of the Spanish version.
I always wonder why you english guy are so split about calling it Seville....while I heard several times in you video folks calling the beautiful city Sevilla, as we are use to call it in Germany ❤
Observations from the USA: Had no idea that Kansas City is the sister city of Seville until I saw that sign in the train station. I thought it was really odd, so I had to go to the google machine and look it up. They have Avenida Kansas City, so that's what the sign is pointing to. Other signs of pervasive US culture were your T shirts....Nick R with Taylor Swift and Nick S with Superdry LA (although a company from the UK but referencing their store in Cali). Its funny that I live here but want to be there, I suppose I'll never be that far from home after I retire. I wonder why the PETA folks never went after the bull fighting thing. Do they still kill the bull? Its extremely inhumane and I agree with Nick S, I couldn't get past that but ironically, I like my steak medium rare.

want spain? try ponte vedra, vigo! heck, all galicia is more inviting than anything. I have to tell you one thing: andalusia is boiling on flamenco y toros. it's impossible to dis-associate both, they feed out of each other. one may don't like it, but one should refrain to use adjectives on it. respect isn't opcional. acceptance is. dig? up to you to listen. personally , i can't stand spaniards since the battle of aljubarrota... 😜
Great video Nick (as always) Three tips ! (Well, you did ask) (i) Buy a Tesla , then Seville from Faro just costs €5, no faffing with trains ! (ii) Do stay overnight and visit La Carboneria. Utterly amazing Flamenco, 💃. Sit alongside the locals (not tourists) on long wooden benches and watch a serious and dramatic show for free. (iii) Visit Costco (Seville) and fill up on fish/meat and everything you need for your home !

Portugal didn't resonate with me personally but I love Spain dearly ❤

Yup, Portugal is very special in Europe with the amount of English spoken by locals.

Thanks for the tip about the Huelva train station option. Seville sounds like a perfect Fall-Winter destination

Hi Nick, I just wanted to tell you that you embody the Algarve for me. Every time I see your face my brain thinks : ❤ 🇵🇹 🇵🇹 🇵🇹
Viva Algarve!

In Portuguese it is called Sevilha. Nick is from Portugal but originally from South Africa
