The infield was a great Set up for having pit stops. The move by the 1x was incredible. Pretty fast track though.

Man, I think that was Gardiner Leavitt who drove out in front of the field in turn 1 and 2 and took out the 25 I think being Bob Ailes. What a mess. Man, that 99 car shoulda been running in the Street Stock races, same guy who Jamie Aube piled into on the last lap at Beech Ridge opening day 1987. Was cool to see this race. That track is fast. Looks a lot better today with all the improvements.

Jamie "landed" right in front of me at Beech Ridge that day. He was so close I could see and HEAR him trying to catch his breath. I'll never forget that.

@@wynder15 We must have been pretty close on that fence. I was about 25 past the point of the first impact. I got some hot engine fluids on my arms that kinda sucked but when Fred Wiles hit Aube the second time and all that fiberglass flew into the fence, we all wore that. I remember Aube crumpling to the ground once he got out the car. That was one of the ugliest crashes I'd ever seen to this day.

@@Matt-mo8sl So you were to the left of me looking out at the track. As I said, after that final hit, Aube landed nose into the wall directly in front of me, not 15-20 feet away ( you know how close you are on the pit fence at the Ridge...). Yep, to this day, after all the racing I've seen in my lifetime, that was one of the worst I ever saw. I remember watching him struggle to catch his breath. Grinding wreck. Scared the hell out of me, I don't mind admitting.
Take care, Brother. Racing season is coming.

@@lukeraven1799 Kevin Lepage started the 1987 season in the #09 (which he had driven since 1985). Lepage was released from the ride a couple of weeks after this event, and Craven was hired to replace him.
