The Marianas archipelago is approximately 2,000 km south of Japan, and includes Guam, Rota, Tinian, Saipan, and a score of lesser islands. Home to Andersen Air Force Base on Guam, the Marianas serve as the key US strategic asset in the western Pacific.
DCS: Marianas is a free map set in the present, with large airfields on each of the primary islands which consist of rocky and beachy shorelines, scenic cliffs, large cities, towns and villages, with dense jungle and open grasslands. The map also boasts unique ports, buildings and structures.
The Marianas was also home to historic World War II battles between the United States and Japan, the most famous of which was the Battle of the Philippine Sea, with the Great Marianas Turkey shoot as the main aerial battle.
Key Features:
• Approximately 1,500 x 1,500 km. with large expanses of ocean for naval operations.
• Detailed and accurate depictions of the islands using our latest terrain technologies.
• The expansive Andersen AFB and the airfields of Rota, Tinian, and Saipan.
• A new combat environment, with stunning low level detail, yet to be seen in DCS World.
• New vegetation, structures and buildings, custom created for this map.

Chills. My great uncle was KIA in his P38 in the Marianas. Will finally get to see what he saw over there in 1944.
You might have to wait for the WW2 version of this map to get the period correct topography.
My grandfather was a Chief Seabee built ALL these airfields through the Pacific..

What I love about Eagle Dynamics is each time they announce something they put together a trailer like this and it feels like a small love letter to aviation and the community each time. I love it.

Bugger the Harpoons! RB-15’s are the real deal! Bit difficult to take off of a carrier with them installed on the Viggen though…

Oh my god. Just, sublime... The level of detail is just getting beyond incredible now. If I showed this to my younger self, flying the Su-25A in Lock On all those years ago that this is what we'd have in the future it would have blown my mind. Thank you ED.

@@cowboy10uk unless plans have changed, so take this with some salt from your local mine, Leatherneck is going to be working on a AI Zero along with a Pacific theater asset pack to go along with their Corsair.
Zero's documentation is... pretty much nonexistent, in japanese and completely worn-out, would be nearly impossible to replicate it.
Glorious! The psuedo A6Ms harken back to the post WWII movies with T-6 Texans being converted to stand in for Zeros. Well done!

I'm form Guam. It has always been a dream to fly over my home islands in such detail. It is not perfect, but the closest thing I have seen in any game. The scenes along the coast gave me chills. I hike these areas regularly and this map captures the feeling of the vast expanses of ocean meeting with the islands. The sky colors and atmospheric effects are spot on, you can feel the tropics here. Will be downloading DCS and buying a joystick. I'm all in. Great work.

I didn't even recognize a certain theme, but it didn't take me long to recognize it as Hans Zimmer simply by the sound of it.

I remember Nick mentioning plans for the Hellcat in an interview. The Zero will be mandatory though. The FW-190 substitution couldn't be more far off in terms of flight performance and durability.

No, Thank you Eagle Dynamics for the years of entertainment you have provided to us. You have given this community of special aviation people more than just a video game. You have given those who have dreamed of what it is like to be in these glorious machines. To those who might not be able to ever stand next one or sit in one either. It also gives us an better understanding of the mental loads of what a pilot will face when those engines start. The satisfaction of accomplishment when they turn the engines off. I have had simulators come and go. But yours from back in the history of LOMAC to present day have always my escape to something I love so much. So, thank you for what you have done for me for year's and year's to come.
I recognized the music theme in the first 3 notes. Phenominal score and so happy you guys used it. just makes this map have an awe factor. cant wait to create some campaigns on it.

I'm so thankful Eagle Dynamics and the DCS project are thriving. I've been supporting them since the first release came out in 2008! It's just amazing to see how far it's come and incredibly exciting to think of what the future holds. I hope we get a completely procedural earth to play inside of someday.
My uncle was a pilot on missions leaving Tinian. Imagine the bravery JUST TO GET a bomber from the west coast USA to these TINY islands... with 1940's (or older) technology. Brave men indeed. Those experiencing freedom today owe those men our gratitude.
The fact they used the Pacific Theme for this just shows the beauty of the setting.

Once again, you did an amazing job, ED. The first thing i did after downloading the map, was sightseeing in TF-51. The Marianas map looks beautiful from high and low altitude. I saw the places that remind the islands' WW2 history, like the remnants of old runways. And the cliffs in the northern part of Saipan - I read about the tragic events that happened there when the battle was over.
