WORST JOB OF THE YEAR SO FAR! Cleaning An OVERGROWN Tarmac Basketball Court! Using CUBB WEED BRUSH!
ฝัง
- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 4 พ.ย. 2024
- Welcome to another video. This was without question the worst job of the year so far. I admit to not knowing a great deal about these types of rotary brushes, and to having no experience using them. Naively I thought they would cut through the weeds ease. The one I used is actually called a weed brush, but it was completely ineffective at removing weeds. It wasn't even that good at removing the bigger clumps of moss. So I begrudgingly had to remove all the weeds and most of the moss, by scraping the surface with a shovel and spade.
I'm sure there are much more powerful and effective rotary brushes out there, that would have been easier to use, and carried out a better job. But unfortunately for me, this model was the only one I could find to hire, that was local to me, and available when I needed it.
I very rarely get contacted to clean basketball or tennis courts. So if I do get asked to quote one again, and if there's no access to water for me to use a pressure washer, then it's unlikely i'll even quote for it, as I didn't enjoy doing this job at all. As the thumbnail says - never again!!!

One man and his shovel saves the day. That was a gym session clearing that. Perseverance won. Awesome x
🤣 🤣, thanks Aj & Moo, yeah that was hard graft alright, glad to be done with it. Thanks for your kind words ✊ 🙂
Good dramatic music, hard work paying off, new sort of cleaning to enjoy, beard's on point. Everything anyone could want in a video!
Hey Silent J. Amazingly kind words and lovely compliments, love it, thank you 😊
Mate this transformation deserved a video.. properly enjoyed It, great to see something can be clean with no water at all. And christ your a chatterbox now 😉
Oh thanks mate, top man. 🤣 yeah like you said the other day, i've opened the flood gates, and now there's no shutting them lol 👍😉
Hey, when it started raining, I chuckled and said, “there’s your water”. Great job!
You and me both lol, thanks a lot Danielle 🙂
Crazy amount of work went into this- huge respect, bet your back felt it. Sometimes we need a rough day to appreciate when the good ones come. stay strong.
Well said Paol! many thanks for your kind word and great feedback 👍🙂
You’re a good man for finishing this job! Brilliantly done!
Thank you kindly Suzie 🙂
Wow Nick that was epic! Your integrity really shined through. Once you say you'll take a job nothing stands in your way - as you exhibited. Your snoopervisor does confess to taking a nap after watching this - you plum wore me out 😉
Aw thanks LuAnn, what a lovely complement from my resident snoopervisor, thank you so much. 😆 hope you enjoyed your nap, I sure needed one after that, phew 😮💨😴
Thumbs up for the hard work and the no quit attitude, my man. 👍
Nice one mate, really appreciate that, top man 👍
Absolutely fantastic outcome, your amazing and never fail to make outstanding transformations 🥰 very inspiring xx
Aw thanks Chelleydawn, what a lovely thing to say, bless you 😊
That was a bonkers job, glad to see you stuck with it 💪🏻
Cheers Graham, nice one 🙂👍
Excellent Job !
Its very hard work, most don't realise how tough it is, I have a similar type, of machine, it works great, but it takes a lot of passes and the right pressure to get a consistent look, well done.
Thanks a lot bud, really appreciate your input on this, thanks also for the kind words - awesome 👍
Top job mate I have genuinely wondered about those brushes for ages haha
Cheers buddy, wonder no more, avoid like the plague 🤣👍
Kuddos my man!!! Looked great when you finished! 👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸👍👍
Thanks very much mate, really appreciate your kind words 🇬🇧👍
Great results again Nick. That machine looked to be very effective once you’d broken the back of it with the spade. Every days a school day mate!
Hiya mate, yeah it was alright on any areas without any growth, but bloody useless on the heavy moss and thick weeds. Not great for something that's called a weed brush 🤣 😉. Definitely never again. 👍.
That machine is hard work. I have a “Nimos mosquito” it looks like that but it’s more user friendly and the brush can be tilted to the side, so the machine pulls its self along a bit and gets the weeds out better. Good job on that surface though, worn tarmac is always a challenge to clean. Well done 👍
Yeah your Nimos mosquito sounds much better. Was my first time using one of these, definitely not impressed with this one, but then I did feel if it was on a less worn surface, like block paving, it probably would have performed better.
Thanks for the great feedback 🙂👍
Kudos to you! You tackled and overcame every challenge!!!! Hi from the Great Lakes area of USA!
I need a lie down after watching that even I am exhausted. Am sure you slept well that night. Don’t worry about the builders crack it was an added bonus lol
😆 😆, yep, i was out like a light mate. The builders crack seems to be going down quite well, might start showing a bit more skin and crack in my future vids 🤣. Probably not a good idea though, as some people might be eating as they watch 🤮 🥴
I feel for you Nick! That looked painful mate. End result is brilliant 👍
Yeah, never again bud, that's for sure. Cheers Steve, top man 🙂👍
That amount of work looks like it would take a good week. That was backbreaking and exhausting. I really admire you.
Thanks ever so much Pat, you're very kind 🙂
You got there in the end, here in New Zealand, we'd call that "Kiwi ingenuity" you find a way and you get it done, you nailed it! Looks great.
Absolutely, this was a tough job and needed a tough man like you to get the job well done.
Thanks very much Jim, that's very decent of you to say, top man 👍
Wow! It looks so much better than before. That looked particularly strenuous! And that was a very different court surface than what we have around here (concrete, which has its own issues).
Well done to take it on. Most people wouldn’t have. Great job. 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks very much Jane. I only really took it on as it was part of a lucrative package deal, otherwise it would have been a no from me 😉, thanks again 👍
Amazing transformation. I bet your whole body was aching after all that hard work? While it was mega hard work as can be seen when you are wrestling with that brush it must have been hugely satisfying achieving what you managed with zero water. Well done, great to see. Bet custy was very happy, hope it paid well considering the amount of work you had.
Thanks a lot Ched 👍. If i'm honest bud, all I kept thinking at the end, is that I wasn't overly happy with the way it looked, but realised that was the best I could get it without water on site, and with the equipment I had. Custy was super pleased with it, so it's all good, but definitely won't be doing another one of those again. Only really took this on because it was part of a larger, lucrative package deal. 👍
Unbelievable! You deserve a medal for doing that!! Looks amazing afterwards it was so awful before though I can’t imagine why you agreed to do the job….especially with no water available!!
Hi Mishka, thank you, you're very kind. I only agreed to this job as it was part of a larger, very lucrative, package deal. I wouldn't have taken this job on otherwise, as it's not the type of work I usually get involved with. 👍
I think a week wacker and possibly a leaf blower would really help a situation like this save your back, might still need the shovel but not as much. great channel!!!
Hi Anthony, duly noted, many thanks. 🙂👍
Truly that looks backbreaking. However I have to give you all the props for an amazing transformation. It hardly looks like the same surface!
Hi Casandra, many thanks for the super kind feedback, it's much appreciated. 🙂 👍
Loving the builders crack. It's the only reason I watch your vids. Keep on showing it 👍
Lol 🤣, i'm sure you're in the minority on that, but thanks anyway 😉 🙂
Im almost speechless, Fantastic, you did an amazingly 👏 👏 And don't stress about the "plumber's crack".....it's a nice one, lol...Cheers from Texas.
Thanks so much Sheila! 😊, you're very kind. A big thank you from hear in Cambridge UK 😀
Hi Nick and great to meet you. Love your honesty and amazing attitude. If you encounter something similar in the future a Westermann 660 would work for you. I'm enjoying your videos, thank you
That was flipping brilliant, you made it look brand new again. Fab job. Stay safe x
Thanks so much! 😊
What a professional you are! Fabulous job 👍🏻🥇. Thank you for the great videos!
Thank you very much Karen, you're very kind 🙂
Great video Nick, very helpful. Looking for some advise please, been approached to clean 1000 square meter of tarmac round a large house. There is water on site, very mossy with lots of large trees round property. Was thinking of buying a Westermann Honda Moss Brush but as you know these are not cheap. Using this then biocide like you have done with this job.
If I was to clean with the 20 in whirleaway I think I might be there for a long time to complete the job, might take maybe a week as is I think to complete. Very mossy, not too many weeds as such just dirty and mossy.
Anyway what way do you recommend to approach this? First time to do a job like this, feel a bit out my depth with the size of the job being a one man band. Can call in some part time help for the job with family to help, for a weekend if needed right enough.
Oh, client hinted at tarmac restorer to be applied also, but I know this will add a lot of cost to job.
Any advice would be helpful
Many thanks
Steve

Half way in the video and it looks cracking already . Well done 👍
Many thanks mate, really appreciate that 🙂
Great results in the end. You really earned your money on this job.
Thanks Julie, really appreciate that, top lady 🙂
Wow, what a huge difference!
Thank you kindly Tocador 👍
Hats off to you for doing such a great job despite constraints
Thanks Sreela, what a lovely thing to say, cheers 🙂
Well done, looks like a new surface 👍🏼
Thank you Amit 🙂 👍
@@PrestigeExternalCleaning You're welcome, credit where credit is due 👍
Hello Nick! Came here from Sid's channel - you are kind and hard working and I love your relaxing, satisfying content. This job was rather challenging. Well done! Stay safe and keep up the good work! XO
Hi blueice, thank you so much for your lovely compliment, it's so kind of you. I really appreciate the positive feedback too, thanks again 😌
@@PrestigeExternalCleaning Thank you Nick for taking the time of your busy day to leave such a kind response to my comment. So nice of you and much appreciated. You're lovely. All the best! XO
@@blueice011 😍
You did well to do that with the cubb, If anyone near you hires a westermann moss brush, they are perfect and would pull all the weeds out with much less effort, I normally treat with Bac 50m 2 weeks before the clean also. looks good though!
Thanks bud 👍, yeah those Westermann brushes look awesome, and that's what I was looking for originally, but couldn't find one anywhere near me. I even had to book a month in advance to secure this crappy Cubb 🤭. Thanks for the great feedback 👍🙂
I followed in yours and Sids footsteps on the wet pour and guess what I'm running a mile from a job like that like Jesus H christ that looked bloody hard work but BUT wow what a fantastic job looked epic loving the intros as well 👏
Lol 😆, I don't blame you Lee. I genuinely mean it when I say never again 🤣. Thanks too for boosting my confidence on the intros bud, nice one, top man.
Cracking job there pal, I’m knackered after watching that 😄
Cheers buddy, much appreciated 👍
Wow class job Nick. Turned out fantastic.
That's pure hardship mate. Hired one of those one day. Had blisters after it. Tough work. Your lashing out the videos this weather well done. 💪💪👏👏🤗
Hiya mate. Spot on bud, my hands are pretty rough and worn anyway, but this caused blisters across the palms of both hands. As the thumbnail says, never again 🤣. Thanks a lot Paudie.
You can't deny that the powered brush gave that an excellent finish - they must have been very pleased with the work!
Fantastic job mate and video 👍👍👍👍
Thanks a lot Mark, top man 👍😉
Hard graft that looked bet your aching all over 😂😂 excellent result 👍👍
Hey Colin, mate that was tough, it was like wrestling with a 12 stone Rottweiler that was relentlessly trying to pull me over 🤣 I had no feeling in my arms for the next day or two 😩 - never again
@@PrestigeExternalCleaning 😂😂😂 brilliant
I have used that machine for the same situation you’re in however the brush I used was steel wire and it did rip everything out of the way so maybe the bristle brush is for the 2nd round after roughing the area with the steel brush?
This brush was steel, but certainly didn't work for me on this surface.
@@PrestigeExternalCleaning hmm interesting, well by steel brush I was referring to the short slightly wavy silver colored, it looks a lot like the metal polishing brushes used on angle grinders just on a much bigger scale.
@@HR66590 ah I see, I know exactly the type you’re talking about. That certainly would have been much better than this one, and been much more effective I’m sure. 👍
Great end result. And the greatest knowledge is learned through the hardest lessons. You will take the lot from that job. And another string to your bow. Keep up the good work.
Hi Robert, Many thanks mate. Oh I sure learned something bud, don't take on jobs like this in the future, and especially don't hire a Cubb weed brush again 🤣 - lesson learnt. Cheers matey 👍 🙂
@@PrestigeExternalCleaning see. Lessons learnt 🤣🤣
@@roberteyres2225 🤣👍
Good job looked hard work. You did a job were you didn't resand it needed grit how do you know if it's resand or grit
Cheers mate, just answered this same question on another video comment 👍
Fair play to you getting that job done! Ouch! But I'm sure the kids will appreciate the lovely new Basketball court! 🏀☺️😀
I hope so. Many thanks Sara, you're very kind 😊
Its crazy! So hard work and so satisfying to watch
Glad you enjoyed it Merychess, thanks for your kind words 😉
What a top job well done mate looks like new
Thanks Darrell, really appreciate that bud, top man 👍👍
Lol that looked like hard work! Great results! 👍👍👍
It was Kenneth, never again bud. Thanks mate 🙂 👍
great job glad you didn't give up. now u can tick that machine off your bucket list and just use easy ones
You got that right Julie, easy ones from now on 😉. Many thanks 👍
That’s amazing! Great job!
Thank you! Cheers Karen!
PEC you had to be in beast mode to vanquish this job!
Lol, yeah I was feeling strong that day for sure 😅
Good for you mate, You persevered and Won.
Most peeps would Say, Sod this job.
But you gotta take bad and good.
Nice result.
Cheers dude, I really appreciate that 👍
The effort you exherted using that brush unit, young man, that's impressive 👏 Any bleach solution used on this? Once again my dear boy, an outstanding outcome!! Be well Nick, loved this video!!
No bleach on this one, I used a biocide called BAC 50. Many thanks
Wow, what a transformation! That looked liked a lot of hard work
It was! Many thanks Naomi, really appreciate your kind feedback 🙂
Mate, my body hurts as I watch you bust your back to do this, but the end results are just fabulous. Great job from the USofA!!!!!
Cheers mate, so nice of you, really appreciate that 👍👍
Great job mate! Loved the camera work and music too.....
Glad you enjoyed it mate, thanks for the great feedback Paul, nice one 👍
Looks a hell of a lot better that’s for sure. Hard work definitely pays off. Time lapse was cool
Cheers mate, much appreciated 👍
Wow, it turned out great!!! Well done you.
Much appreciated Kathy 😊
I use a Kersten brush and WeedGo strimmer head for work and it took me a lot of pain before i realised its easier to work backwards in a side to side sweeping motion....still a pain in the arm💪🥃👍
Hi brother in arms...greetings from eastern side of Europe. It looks that you are starting to pick "cherries" from hardcore jobs ,😎,. Great work and keen on to watch your next adventures.
Hi Dalibor, greetings from here in the UK. Cheers bud, glad to have you on board, top man 🙂 👍
Good grief....what a challenge...and you rose to conquer it. Welldone.💪💪 (new subscriber)
Thanks for the sub Donna, and thank you for your kind words, it's much appreciated 😊
Looks great. Worth the hard work 👍
Thanks bud 👍
Looks spectacular.
Many thanks Julie 😊
I realize this was a lot of hard work, but it looks great now. But than usually hard work is rewarded with great results. Thumbs Up!
Thank you very much Gary, you're very kind, cheers 🙂
What a transformation! At the risk of asking a silly question, but would a tanker of water have been economic?
Not silly at all. The amount of water needed to get this clean, I would not have been able to tow that amount legally to site. Even if I managed to get that amount of water nearby, the closest I could get it to the basketball court was a good 150 metres away, and my hoses don't stretch that far. Many thanks for your comment 👍
You earned your pay with this one. Great job. I'm subscribed.
Awesome, thank you!
this music is so GOOD great video!
I'm glad you like it, thanks for the great feedback 👍
Really great job

Just found your channel an after watching a few videos I dropped a sub n like coz well the music over the time lapses is better than what I hear alot of the time an well this video you deserve it for all the hard work man also that weed brush yea dosent live up to it's name
Hey Tristian, many thanks bud, and and thanks for subbing too, welcome to my channel. Yeah, the weed brush was terrible - never again 👍
Wow beautiful job! What a workout!
Thank you so much!
Great job and great choice of music. Keep up the hard work
Thank you very much! 🙂👍
I'm in Australia but top effort. I can see the hard yards being put in. Amazing result for no water job.
Thanks very much, much appreciated 👍
I would like there to be some after shots in such videos , how people start coming and appreciating cleaned places
You really earned your pay for that job. Well done - it looks great! 👍🏼
Aw thanks Elaine, that's very sweet of you to say 🙂, cheers 👍
Would a brushes on a street cleaning machine (like the councils use on paved areas) work like your rotary?
Possibly, but access to this area was down a long thin pathway that a machine like that couldn't get down.
Yes we older folks call your pants and underpants start creeping down we call it the "plumber crack" but about 10 years ago the kids were calling it your "coin purse". I'm glad that one faded and plumber's crack stayed. 😂
🤣love it
It does look extremely satisfying though!
Great results!

I bet the pint in the pub that afternoon went down especially nicely!!!
Oh yes, Indeed 😉 🙂
I feel for you Nick, lots of hard work. after watching several videos with overgrowth, I wonder why you do not use a string trimmer. you can get those that are battery powered. might be something to look into.
I almost never do work like this, so can't really justify the cost of purchasing something like that. But thanks for your comment and suggestion David 👍

Ive just recently moved to a new house which has tennis court, however the last owners hadn’t cleaned it in ten years so now its overgrown and has small trees growing on it, we’ve started clearing it but boy oh boy is it a ling process
That was hard work. Do you wear a smart watch? Curious to know how many steps you do

Man you did a really good job..How do the forearms feel?
Couldn't feel them for days after 😄, cheers Darrell 👍
I use a wire brush type attachment for my strimmer for this sort of work and that cuts through the weeds and reasonably deep soil, so might have managed this. But sometimes the good old shovel is the only was.
