My longest one day bike trip (old Chinese styled one speed bike) was from Shanghai to Jiaxing (嘉兴 where CPC was founded), a little more than 100 km one way. My longest multi day bike trip was from Shanghai to Suzhou (苏州) to Wuxi (无锡) and back to Shanghai . That was in early 1980s before you were born I think.

I saw many hotels and shop was written in Russian no English sign, even in early 2000 there was beautiful Russian restaurant right on the beach with Russian chef and waiter.

Those abandoned houses in countryside have owners. They usually moved to cities. They will come back to claim compensation if relocation happens. In China, farmers don't pay anything for their residence land lot. They only need to file some application forms if they want to build a house. Of course, one farmer family can only get one lot. there are limits on size of lots, but not strict. Farmers usually take larger size of land than allowed.

Nice one, as always. The other vlogger was right about Hainan children and bikes but I think it goes deeper than that. We have noticed that children in Hainan seem to be under far less pressure than children up north, there is also a lot less mobile phone usage, at least until they are teenagers. I heard all the hellos today and the excuse a me! My response to the latter would be "why, what have you done?" but that is usually not understood. I did respond to a hello yesterday, heard a few metres after I passed them of course. I went back and asked why they waited until I had gone by. One of the three answered, in perfect English, "my English is not very good"! PS Are the other bike vloggers riding expensive bikes?

And yes, the Chinese here too, like to burn paper houses, cars, TVs etc. to their beloved departed ones. Katherine, I am happy to see that you successfully took a lone bike trip to off-beaten places in China. I am curious to know whether you really did take that bike trip all by yourself? If you did, throughout that trip, did any of the local guys/men try to hit on you? I know for a fact that a foreign woman biking alone in other Asian countries like the Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, etc will attract a lot of unwanted attentions from local guys/men. I would highly appreciate your honest experience. Thank you and keep on trucking!

Thank you for sharing another bike tour of yours. Through your videos, one can also see there is plenty of places in China which are "very" rural looking. Yes, indeed, that's a bit overwhelming of Hellos. In addition to your different appearance from those locals, I think many probably see your attractive appearance too. Some Chinese are funny or even can appear a bit strange, and I guess that's not peculiar to the Chinese, so they may say something to someone who looks different from what they are more familiar which they normally would not have expressed in their daily life.

@Johnson Li Oh... not really... it is actually very well developed already. As Katherine said, she is in the countryside and she is just showing the rural part of the island only. For a sub tropical island it is good to retain some of the original charm and beauty, not only of the place but the people and even the animals as Katherine has shown! China develops so super fast. You can't recognize the place just in one short year, not to mention five years later, so yes, even here it will change like mad. In the video, even in villages, you can also see that new big houses being built and upgraded. Those parts that are untouched are probably left so deliberately.

Her own , she needs help for hygiene grooming . I need to blend her food feee her to avoid her to choke. She said to me that I am the hope in her life and it is because of me to keep her alive . The truth is s I need to move on because of her and she is my hope. Katherine I want you to know that part of the reason that makes her happy daily is to be able to see her hometown through the video that you have posted . It indeed gives her joy and refresh her childhood memory. as well as open up my vision. We are happy to see you and every place you go and every little thing you do . Mom loves animals so much just like you do . She doesn’t like to watch politics it makes her sad and worries. She said her face can’t changed she will always be a foreigner in here US but she at least has me to protect her and watch her . I rarely go out except wire a day groceries . It’s not Covid only , I m also Asian and I’m avoid to be attacked by crazy people and I must keep safe for both mom and me. safety other people’s eyes and she is too old to move .. Your video always lights up her day has become part of her life . My father used to tell me this before he died . He wanted me to go to China one day to see his home town that he used to mention many times I know the only opportunity is when I can be free . . That means only when my mother is no gone which I don’t want to see that . Well I want to go to China along with a full of memories from my parents? My mom is is too old to travel to anywhere now. I promised my father I have to take good care of my mother . it is why I don’t travel far away because of her condition is weak. Mom watches the same video from you over and over before you post the new one . I hope one day we will have a chance to cross each other to meet somewhere sometime. Never give up dreams and never give up hopes . Dream is just a dream if we do not act . As long as we don’t give up , keep moving forward , anything is possible. I don’t pray for an easy life I only pray to endorse a difficult one. We enjoy your video your presence and every place you have shown us . Best wishes to you , your loved ones sending our love and blessings to you whenever you go . Mom and I are looking forward to seeing your next video 🥰❤️💕💕💕💕🙏🙏🙏stay safe

Happy to hear she enjoys the videos, lots more coming soon❤️my grandmother always wanted to visit China but couldn’t come because she was too old by the time I moved here . She was quite the adventurer in her youth and traveled all over South America and even lived in Mexico and Uruguay for several years and had her oldest child , my mothers older brother , and raised him for his first few years there. It’s a shame she couldn’t continue her adventurous spirit in China but she always enjoyed watching these videos to feel like she’s here with me 🚲

Hainan Island in winter is absolutely paradise! Is Wei driving to the destination waiting for you? Or has he been lounging on the beach basking in the sun?🤤
