An unadulterated version and vision of the actual truth of the Chinese government's efforts to eradicate extreme poverty in China. Witness the much better and modern housing, better basic infrastructures, educational and social facilities, etc, etc. Sadly, some section of the world prefer to remain blind about those achievements and would rather frame China as still existing in the 19th or early 20th centuries.

Spectacular documentary. This should be a "National Geographic" episode of "tribes and places you have never heard of." (My initial speculation of the white pants was correct. It must be based on the military uniform of some troops driven into the wilderness from ancient times.) Very detailed description of the tribe on Baidu.

Always ment to send this to wae.
    My mother kept a garden
    A garden of the heart
She planted all the good things
That gave my life a start
She turned me to the sunshine
    And encouraged me to dream
    Fostering and nurturing
    The seeds of self esteem
And when the winds and rains came
    She protected me enough
But not too much, she knew I,d need
To stand up strong and tough
    Her constant good example
Always taught me right from wrong
    Markers for my pathway
To last my whole life long
    I am my mother's garden
    I am her legacy
And I hope today she feels the love
    Reflected back from me.

The winning side eventually evolved into Han people while the losing side was forced to move further and further south as winner's population and influence grow. Yao and Miao (Hmong) people eventually split into distinct ethnic groups around Song dynasty period.

My ancestors has the same similarity scenario when my great parents talked about their stories why they decided to migrate to South East Asia during the aftermath of Qing-Ming dynasty. I'm Miao/Ma Dong descendant. The story that you're telling is really intriguing, thinking back is a bare burden inside of me seeking for answers to shed some light about the truth of my ethnic group.

I’ve lived in China for almost 3 years in the city and I appreciate Katherine showing us the country side of China that a lot of us foreigners don’t get to see or experience. ❗️❗️

Would it surprise you that probably 1.4 billion Chinese also have no idea about the White Pants Yao people, what more foreigners!!!

You can still see those weaved bamboos used in houses in rural areas in the Philippines. Even some modern houses use them as an aesthetic now..beach villas in resorts often use the same or similar weaved materials. It's amazing how similar different cultures are.

      菲律宾大部分人的祖先来自中国,如果不是被殖民混血,你会发现菲律宾人很多人长得就像中国人!这是我一位菲律宾朋友告诉我的。

Never heard of the White-Pants Yaos, before.. A very interesting chapter of the Chinese people. As for living in temporary bamboo thatched home, I had been there when I graduated and was sent to a remote area to build a chemical plant. I was lucky that I didn't have to build it myself. I got there six months after the pioneers. Much thanks for the uploading. You always present very interesting pieces. I look forward to you next video.
