Thank you for this video! I just got in as a transfer student and am so nervous, especially in the case that classes in the fall of 2020 are remote. Can you recommend ways to meet people/ make friends if it is? Also, is it easy to switch between majors or schools?

Hello, Alison. Thanks for your video. It seems to me that many core classes are freshmen or sophomore seminars. I am looking for an academically rigorous experience. Is it possible to satisfy the core requirements with graduate classes in the same areas? Thanks!

hey thanks for watching! there are specific core classes that fulfill the requirements, so to my knowledge you cant use graduate level courses although you may be able to petition! uchicago is very rigorous though so i wouldnt worry about trying to make it academically challenging since it already is!

Hello there, I’m extremely late but I have a few questions. If you don’t mind answering, how many credit hours did you attain before transferring to UChicago? Second, did you try transferring to any other universities, and if so, did you get accepted? Lastly, is it possible to attain 24 credit hours in one semester? Can I convert my AP credit to transfer credit, so I can meet that requirement?

in another video she said she had 10 credit hours beforehand but she only got credit for 9, most of which were electives. she also said she got into upenn, georgetown and other very selective schools.

Hi Alison. Thanks so much for the video! It was so helpful!
I’m currently a high school senior who is about to graduate and start college at a large public state school, and I’m interested in transferring to colleges such as UChicago and its peer institutions. I’m just wondering, how important is high school grades, test scores, and activities when transferring after 1 year of college? Would you mind sharing your high school stats/test scores and your freshman year of college stats?
I feel like I didn’t do as well academically in high school as I should have to get into a top college, as I had several Bs throughout high school. However, my goal is to have a 4.0 in college. I’m just wondering if that’s feasible, to transfer to a school such as UChicago with not-so-stellar high school grades, but compensating it with much improved college grades. Is there a cutoff GPA I should aim to have my first year, if it’s not a 4.0? Thanks once again!
