How I Choose Classes at UChicago

Boy, did I procrastinate on editing this video, lol. I have finals, okay? It’s justified. Plus, at UChicago, midterms don’t even need to be in the middle of the term. ~JUST WHENEVER THE PROFESSORS WANT. HOW FUN!~ I have a few other videos lined up in the ol’ noggin, so that’ll be cool, too.
So, a few weeks ago, it was 7th week. That meant it was finally time to pick classes for next quarter. Very exciting stuff. For that reason, I thought it would be neat to show y’all what it is like to pick out classes and my thought process as I do it. It’s super fun to go shopping for new classes, so I hope you can take something away from this video.
For the record, we do this three times a year. Generally, people will pick out three or four (usually four) classes. These will primarily consist of core classes during your first two years of college, and during the last two, mostly electives and major requirements.
Overall, a super speedy and enjoyable process. Enjoy, my dudes.

When I pre-reg my core courses, do I also have to rank them? Or is ranking only for electives/major courses?
ie. if I want to take a core bio course, would I be directly placed into that?

No problem! And to answer you question, yes, you have to pre-reg your core along with the rest of your classes. This can be especially tricky because some core (such as arts classes) can get picked up by others very fast. This is why you’ll benefit by trying to get your core out of the way asap.
