- Had a blast working on this video for my film class at GCU. The guys at Fire Station 9 were super cool, they let us spend a full 24 hour shift with them to film this project for the patients and families at Phoenix Children's Hospital. On June 7, 2012 we're all going down to the hospital to show the film and the guys from the fire station are going to hang out with the kids, show off the trucks, and learn how to color. #somuchfun!

I am a 12 year veteran firefighter/paramedic with Los Angeles City Fire. This videos was awesome. Way to represent our profession, brothers. Thanks....keep up the great work and stay safe, brothers.
Thank you for your service god bless
you stay safe too brother
i'm planning on becoming a firefighter ... but my question is how do the job days and free days work per week ? nd are there any vacations, if so how are they passed out ?
If you can answer this it will clear out many questions. Thank you for your service nd best of wishes
Nothing but love for firefighters. True heroes that probably dont get enough recognition and the pay they deserve. Thank you to all firefighters out there.
Love the fire truck , fire rescue TRUCKS , fire Van's their my favorites 😄
i am a junior firefighter and i just wanted to say thank you to the people that make these videos 🙏
Thanks. My small child loved learning from you!
One of the best videos showing my brothers and sisters in the fire service.
Eric Withrow Thanks Eric!
I recently enrolled in my classes to become a Firefighter. I absolutely love what you guys do and love seeing the smiles on peoples faces whether its to say hi or if you are saving their lives. I cant wait to become a Firefighter and make a positive impact on peoples lives, and most importantly have my son look up to me as his hero! God bless you guys thank you for your hard work!
To all the fire fighters out there Thank you for what you do and that no matter what you are there!
Love this video day in the life of a FIREFIGHTER .
I want that life and I'm willing to work hard for it.
I'm a firefighter in PA and I thought that this is a great documentary and I even showed it to the new recruits coming into the station that's for the great video !
Thanks Jake!
I love your video very informative. You Firefighters are true Heros.
Thanks to all the firefighters and thanks for fighting your lifes to save us and keeping us safe.this video showed me alot and teached me so much. Lots of love to you all.
I'm a fire fighter recruit at this moment. I can't wait to actually be a firefighter.
I was looking for a day in the life of a firefighter book for my 4 years old son homework, we couldn't find one that he like so we starting looking on TH-cam until he saw your video and he love it. Thanks for sharing it.
Thanks for the comment Daverba, I appreciate that feedback!
To clear things up, you do not have oxygen in your scba tank. It's compressed air. Oxygen is highly flammable and would not be a good idea to run in a burning building with a bomb strapped to your back. Other than that, great video.
Being a 15 year veteran of the fire service, this is one of the best videos i've seen on life in the fire service. Keep up the great work, brothers in Phoenix
pretty straight forward video. Although, it should be noted that the SCBA cylinders do NOT contain just oxygen. it is compressed ambient air. o2 level is the same as normal air (19-20%).
I really wish I had some of those big scissors. I would never need help opening my fruit snacks again...
My hero's!!!!adore these guys!!!
Amazing guys, amazing work. Congratulations (from a french volunteer firefighter).
jackfirefighter63 Thanks for the comment Jack!
I have so much respect for firefighters u guys are awesome God bless u & thank u for all u do
My son missed his field trip to the fire house so we looked this up to complete his homework assignment. He is 5 years old in Kinder. This was a great video, moved fast, and showed many points of interest. Thank you!
That's awesome! Thanks for the feedback.
I don’t really think people get the time to see what firefighters do I acknowledge ur guys work ur some real heroes
This video has helped me choose my major. Thanks to the entire crew of this film and to all of Station 9's firefighters!
My 2 year old loves fire trucks and watches this video over and over again
I like how when he was explaining PPE he was explaining it like he would to children xD he did great, i just thought that was funny. I just recently got on with the department where I live. Hands down the best decision I've ever made in my entire life. My second family :)
awesome man, just submitted my application, so we'll see, for the mean time, ill be taking some college classes and training for the CPAT, if you dont mind me asking, how did you train for it ?
ViscaElBarca Hey man sorry, I just got back into town yesterday. Was in monterey county working the sobranes fire on a strike team, incredible experience.. Anyway, for the CPAT if you do some searching around online you can find some good guides on preparing for the CPAT. I'd recommend doing that and finding one that's right for you.
I'm from Liverpool in the UK but I'd just like to say thank you for the brilliant work you all do under extreme conditions,
The UK fire department is getting dragged through the mud currently by this government who know nothing in the field of fire fighting and I feel so sad that the people at the top are treating them like dirt even though this government have slashed our fire service to the bone.
I'm certainly no fireman I haven't got the balls big enough to do it but respect to you all.
Great to see a fellow Station 9 getting it done across the country, this is from Beech Creek- Blanchard Vol. Fire Company in Pennsylvania!
Firefighters are some of the greatest and nicest people around.
Mega Thank You for the jobs that you guys do...May God Bless you all.
Fantastic video! Thank you so much :) ... have watched it 3 times already and will watch it many more times.
Trixi4ever Thanks Trixi!

I’m 19 from jersey I start my volunteer work in August and I take the test in 2 years super excited 😆
This is such a wonderful video, thanks for putting this on TH-cam.
Exactly the reason I became a volunteer fire fighter. To help my community and many other people that visit the area, etc
Fantastic video ! 12/10 loved it
Thanks Perfectionz!
Great Video, I'm going to show it to my Fire Science class.
For me, as a firefighter. i really found this video interesting, because as first responders, we suppose to know how to act quickly to save someone's life in a fire or a car accident.
most interesting Video :)
Im from Germany...we have 9 mens on 1 truck...(HLF 20/16)
and many over vehicles...good luck and best regards from Germany...:D

Firefighters some of the best food cooks.
I admire firefighters. God bless you !
I LoL'd at "engine cheese"
Pretty funny how this is for tweens and teens, yet they still manage a engine vs truck joke in there
This only solidified that this is what I want in my life.
ive always been fascinated by wanting to be a firefighter my moms uncle Wallie was a fire Captain he past away before i was born but thats all he ever wanted to be, and my cousin which i didn't know at the time has the same full name as me was one also!! much respect to them and every other man or woman that is a firemen!!
Nice video and very informative, especially allowing us to see the training involved.
I'll never forget seeing a small trailer on fire and I stopped to see the fire department work the fire.
From a distance that smoke was too much and you could feel the heat as well.
You could say it gave me an experience as to what that equipment we see fire fighters in is really for.
I'm sure the kids got a kick out of this.
I’m a firefighter recruit at this moment. Can’t wait to be a firefighter.
Awesome video, loved it. Got my thumbs up, cheers!
Gagan Bahri Thanks man!
Dude amazing video I loved it something I've always wanted to do. Watching this makes me want to do it even more. GREAT JOB!!
I loved this video and I wish to see more like this god bless you guys and the rest of the firefighters!
Jeeeeez nice engine! Much more updated than ours
Proud parent of a firefighter.
thats cool how did they fold the hoses like that i might write it down for my dad who is the training officer for are fire dept
good video! I was a little sad to see phoenix has blue lights on their rigs....
my nephew wants to be fireman, he's 5 years old now, and collecting many fireman's cars and questioning me all stuff in that car 😀 thanks for the video
I want to be just like you and can’t wait to join all the men and women who serve thanks again for everything you do
Thats an intresting truck I haven't seen one like that yet.
Excellent video, I like how it is easy for a layman to understand all the details of the equipment, the only thing I would suggest is being careful when referring to your air tank as Oxygen. Otherwise an excellent video.
This is a very informative video. Good job.
How hot is the fire when you're in those overalls, boots, and jackets?
It's actually not Oxygen in the SCBA tanks, its compressed air. O2 is flammable.
mnybags07 keep up the good work I have been a firefighter for 19 years still love the job going to hate retireing next
ben jarvey It stands for Ladder Truck 9
It is in fact for Ladder Tender 9. LTs are used as a supplemental vehicle to the main ladder truck. So if they receive a call that will not be needing the large ladder truck's capabilities than they will take the LT. Usually the choice is either automatically dispatched from the Alarm Room or is up to the Captain's discretion. The main purpose of the LT is cost savings by reducing wear and tear on the ladder. An LT is a fraction of the cost of the ladder. The LT carries identical equipment as the ladder with the obvious exception of the 115' aerial. But I can say that they most always prefer to roll the big truck haha! Hope that helps.
I really want to go through your training courses lol I'm a fire fighter in maricopa by the way
I’m here from school lol they forced me to watch this
I'm sitting in my cubicle with a college degree and a job I hate, being a firefighter would be an incredible career.
To: Nick Fanelli( Really Awesome work on making this video,)
Good job.Our kids like it !!!
greetings from firefighters from Poland:)
probly the greatest vid in the world
It's a song by a band named Iwo Jima. They were fellow students, and as far as I know they haven't released any albums or made their music available for purchase, but I'll look into it because a few people have asked about it now. I'll let you know what I find.

Nick Fanelli you don't mind if I use your video as evidence for my consept for a school documentary I have to make? no copywright laws will be breached, all I need to do is show my teacher that this is the video that basically helps me to explain to her about my idea for the documentary
I hate doing video projects for school but y’all did fantastic I hope y’all got an A
I'm 10 Years Old, And I Wanna Be A Firefighter When I Grow Up.
here in Italy things are quite different but I found this video very interesting!
Thanks for the comment and share. What would you say are some of the major differences?
*****
type and use of some equipment (for example how hoses are stocked in the firetruck and how are them deployed). number of crewmembers: mainly in ours ladder trucks we have only 2 firefighters. personal protection devices are quite different. fire attacking techniques, you are more aggressive but I think that it depends on the different scenarios we have
and sorry for my bad english
AlxanderMatt That's very interesting. You're english is great, and thanks for sharing!
Your English is fine, I've heard worse from people who speak English as their first language.
Colin Leavitt ive seen some that it barely looks like a language xD
Love day in the life of a FIREFIGHTER IT was so cool
I can't wait to pursue this occupation
That was pretty awesome!!
