    And jeez i wish i knew this in 1984 when i was trying to learn "its a wonderful life"by ear. Finally i thought " maybe its an effect?" Kool thanks henry

    Henry really owns this particular way of using delays. It makes perfect sense to me when he says he uses this type of thing to accompany his scuba diving videos - it is something like the aural equivalent of schools of multicolored fish crisscrossing through one another. Which of course is a phenomenon that does not happen in 4/4 time.

      I agree, this is good for otherworldly environments, like deep underwater, or outer space. But that's about all it's good for. And he should avoid the shrill sounds.

    I dig HK. His music is not for everyone, but he's doing his own thing and has been successful at it by any objective measure. I find it all (the gear and the music being made with it) fascinating.

  • @dachimp4879
    @dachimp4879 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    What's really interesting is that when listening to it, it definitely might not be what guitarists would find appealing or a good tone, which is fine since Henry is very experimental and goes way beyond the norm of what typical guitar playing is. However, as a modular synth player, his ideas translate perfectly over and I would even encourage synth players (especially modular synth players) to take some ideas from this

It's a bit like the saying "Rich people are considered eccentric, poor people are considered mentally ill", this is exactly the same, if I go play this crap on stage, i'll get stoned to death within 30 seconds while screaming "But it's a Henry Kaiser cover song !!!"

      Let me bring you a comparisson. A great painter can paint anything he wants, but what makes it art is, what he chooses to paint can be really odd and simple. Same applies to a great guitarplayer. Except you cant tell by the way Henry Kaiser approaches the guitar that he is not a great guitarplayer.

    • @kyatzz
      @kyatzz 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I may have accidentally typed cant instead of can. The point I was trying to make was that Henry Kaiser is the one showing that apron. And for some reason people are still trying to claim that he is some sort of progressive guitar mastermind.

    • @kyatzz

      just use bitwig... way easier to do complex things like this and once 3.0 hits with the modular system, pretty much all Ableton will have over Bitwig is time signature automation (any actual audio effect related to so could be done some other way easily in bitwig).
      Part of the amazing thing of bitwig is they give you so many tools that can be used in so many more ways than other DAWs that you can basically figure out how to do anything just using "effects routing" skills, no programming...

      @@ethanweeter2732of course he can. This is actually a great take on I’m so glad, old blues tune made famous by Clapton and Cream. Kaiser recorded this in 1988. th-cam.com/video/sgQ2S6ZRzwg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=YcoUNJVTod-vcdX4

    Kaiser is a great player, but here he is a slave to his efx. It happens. Especially with guitarists. The fact that he is overdriving early digital equipment makes it sound horrible. You can see both lexicons almost pegged in the red. Ooops.

    Kids....this is what an abundance of confidence in yourself will get you. If you tell everyone you are good....I guess some start to believe it. I am not buying it though....not for one second.
