- Caught 700+ pounds of fish while offshore fishing in Hawaii. To bad at the most key part of the day during the tide change another fishing boat came too close and cut my lines and spooled 2 of my shimano 130 reels.

Nick! Bruddah Ry is hammahs brah! Vomiting several times and still cranking reels is big time. When I get seasick game over can’t even pull up a 12oz sinker when bottom fishing in the bay.

I had that happen a few times. I cut it asap with scissors. I also use 120lb daiwa jbraid x8 backing and just top shot about 130 lb momoi with a FG. The braid saves money in long run

Straight up, when you out fishing not there to make friends. Got to help other boaters in distress etc... But that was such a bobo move. Guarantee he's going to have a lot more issues with line on his prop and the lower unit then you having to re-rig... Still that's totally avoidable on his part. So stupid when people come up on you when you're way out in the middle of way from everyone... It's also like my boys in the keys when they're posting dive flags and other fishermen want to troll close by. People are so lolo, no excuse for those actions. Respects Capt🤙🏼

What settings you put your furuno to mark fish when it’s not scanning the bottom?
Not sure the setting but I tried to really dial it in. Im sure it could still be bit better. It really depends on the transducer you got also 🤙

Normally thats what I would do. But it was way to early in the am to be down 4 poles. Plus he was in no mans land. I couldn't leave someone stranded out there like that 🤙

Hey Nick, I know you're a cool guy and you make great videos, but I have to admit that I don't agree with what you said in regards to being YOUR bird pile. I always believe in respect for your fellow lawaia and if someone is hunting a pile before me, I always respect and give him the right of way. In fact I purposely stay as far away as possible and if I see that boat coming my way I purposely turn away from the pile until I feel it's wide open. But as far as you owning the pile because you were the first one there? Sorry buddy, I gotta disagree! It's similar to a shorefisherman finding the school of oama, does it mean it's his school and nobody else can fish it? Auwe, I think you were just upset at the time and I hope you rethink that. But with that said, I'm still a subscriber and will continue to enjoy and learn from your videos. If there's one thing this OG knows, it's that nobody is perfect, I wish you continued success and tight lines and safe trips.
Hey nick,sorry for your lost gear, less than 40 yards is way to close to be to the back of a boat running trolling lines.
I must confess that I’ve run over the lines of others at times who run them 100’s of meters behind their boat and I tell them I’m sorry and apologise, but I feel like it’s not my fault if some guy runs his gear way way back there, and then gets mad at you for running it over (especially in a tournament or around a bouy in lots of traffic).
How far back is your furthest line from the boat(not the green stick rig)? And how much room do you think is reasonable to give another boat before going behind them? If I can I like to speed up and go in front of them if possible, cause I no my lines are short, not way way back there.
I reckon the guy wanted a few Morris lures on the cheap ;)
Hey Adam, I run my riggers at 65 arm spans each. If its just trolling I will give as much room as possible no reason to be on someones a$$. But if im working a buoy or something sometimes it can get kind of tight like 20-30 feet from the back of their lure especially if there is a ton of boats around. I've only ran over 1 line, it was about 2 years ago and this guy was a straight googan. I passed behind him over 100 yards and I saw his line go under my bow. I was fast enough to kill my motors and raise them before his line caught the bottom of my leg. After it caught my leg it still had about 20-30 yards of line out. Straight idiot trolling that much line. 🤙
@@RAHfishing I hear that story! Some guys think the fish are “scared of the boat” and run everything stupid far back. I’m not a fan at all. I hooked a diver behind a trolling weight just the other day a local was running way back there. I don’t think it’s wise, your asking for trouble and can’t get mad at others when you catch boats more than fish ;) too much mono = more stretch and worse hookups too, so I like shorter the ether for me.

If you confronted the boat that ran over your lines,did he offer to pay you for the lost gear? Even if he didn’t know he caught your lines he should have replaced your gear.
Yeah I drove 20' away from him to talk to him. He said he didn't know he crossed my lines. I told him he better check his lower unit. I wasn't concerned about the line I had plans to replace it the day before but ran out of time. Thank god I didn't change it or I would have really been pissed. 🤙

I hate to say it but karma is on your side. All that line from your reels will wrap up in his props and take out his lower unit seals and it will be costly for him, just as it is for you. Great fishing and awesome video as always.
