Truth be told, I love this drama BECAUSE it’s like a video game 😂 haven’t seen a xianxia drama like this before and I’m loving the costumes - they’re really well made.

No but you know for a fact half of the people that watches this drama is watching for bai lu. On the youku rating comments bubble where we rate things. A lot like a lot of people just said bai lu that’s literally the only reason why they are watching it and the rest are just saying how stupid the story is, but I think in my opinion it’s not even that bad I mean it’s creative and the fight scenes are really good. I don’t see the difference between this and love between fairy and devil

You are watching CDrama. This is already among passionate kiss drama scenes I seen. Most CDrama tend to give forehead or light lips kiss. Only western show have more passionate real life bedroom activities. I prefer them wear clothing and have real passionate kiss. I don’t want actor/actress to be cancelled. They are always at risks for a career ending punishment.

I just completed the drama yesterday and I loved it so much.. I think it's a really good drama if you haven't watched this you're missing so much (if you're a fan of Chinese Fantasy dramas)
I'm actually in love with LYX acting in this drama. He just convey those crazy, psycho character pin-pointly, then he has no problem suddenly transforming into a sweet loving character, then into hurt betrayed character. I mean, he's perfect! The others is kinda meh for me, but I'm staying for his acting. I can just skip when the story gets too boring. I'm only here for his acting anyway, lol.

LYX is so good! :) I really love badass characters like his, where the devil is sweet and destructive in the same time.
The chemistry between Luo Yunxi and Bai Lu is out of this world! THEY ARE THE PLOT. I've watched their drama love is sweet before and since then I've been waiting for their pairing again and they don't disappoint. Give it a watch guys, the chemistry is 100/100!!!

It is my personal feeling, obviously, but didn't feel their chemistry at all.
At first, I was hesitant to watch Till The End of The Moon because of the makeup. Then I watched the drama and even as a skeptical viewer I applauded Luo Yunxi for his portrayal on a very complex and contradictive character of Tantai Jin. But man,,those makeups were really disturbing. And Luo Yunxi looked ghostly for being extremely skinny!
But, again, Luo Yunxi acting skill as Tantai Jin was slayed. Could never chose a better portrayal of conflicting devil god. Luo Yunxi deserves an award as the best actor of the year.
Apparently I’m living in an alternate universe because I stinking love this drama. I don’t get the fandom wars: I loved LBFAD too and this is a distinct story and there’s plenty of room in my heart for both. I think the lead actors are absolutely fabulous - so much so that I also started Love is Sweet which I had not seen. I don’t think any other storylines matter much in this one: if they had more than 40 episodes, they probably could have done more with side stories, but I don’t care because the leads and primary storyline can carry it for me. I thought the dream sequence was interesting as it’s really completely unrelated to their story, but walking in another’s shoes gives different perspective of your life. I agree that jealous female villain tropes are overdone.
Their chemistry in Love is Sweet is OFF THE CHARTS! It's actually the that show that made me go WOW over the pair. They are soooo sweet both in and off screen, such good friends with so much rapport too. Watching their footages either each other always make me smile. Literally cannot have enough of them

I don’t care for the CGI video-game visuals but the actors actually have zero chemistry. The acting is also cringe, especially the male lead. People should stop supporting shitty Chinese dramas, they will literally never improve and continue to produce bullshit, even though they are capable of so much more. I don’t understand how so many good Western shows exist but Western fans of Chinese dramas always have such bad taste.
This series will give you mix emotions. Even though there were flaws it still makes you want to watch the next episodes just because you want to know what will happen next.

I usually skip fighting scenes in Chinese fantasy romance dramas cause I think they can look silly, but for this one I found myself rewinding, especially in the fight scenes with the devil lord, because the cgi, choreo, and the actor’s performances where so good! Especially the male lead, the actor is very graceful when he acts out fight poses, and I truly enjoy them 😊
Apparently ML was(still is? idk) ballet dancer so the gracefulness makes sense

I actually really really loved this drama to the point of subscribing to Youku for the first time! With that said though, even before watching this review I do hold the same critics as you particularly on the VERY VERY POOR lighting, and the overdone trope (miscommunication, love triangle, 2FL sabotage) that we should’ve already move away from in 2023. But then again this was based on a book and I’m not sure which year it came out. The only thing I disagree with you is the makeup, this is the most ‘alive’ makeup Luo Yunxi ever had out of all his period dramas. Usually his makeup always made him look sickly.
yes i love his makeup as well, they couldve cut it down a bit with the under eyes and at least filtered it to make it less cakey, but its beautiful! i think it definitely improves in later episodes, ive noticed its much more smoother for everyone now. his makeup is very fitting for his ethereal ‘evil’ character :)

The overall makeup application was good for me....I like how LYX looks, so eternal and beautiful, very handsome plus the make up brings out his different mood and personality at given points...what got me is when the camera zoomed in and then one can see the mishaps taken place. For a high quality Xianxia , these small things as accurate makeup application its suppose to be done by professionals so I kinda squinted my eyes at the zoomed in flaws...lol

I absolutely detested the FL in this... she is so prejudiced and is so self-righteous and hypocritical. She keeps the ML safe so that she can correctly destroy him later but acts as if she is saving his life and demands him to be grateful and keeps calling him names... she doesn't condemn anyone for attempting to kill him, but him taking measures to keep himself safe from these people after they have betrayed him is somehow so evil... her perception is so warped, I don't understand why he was the one to die at the end... I would rather she hated him completely and found fault with him no matter what, than try to write her as being someone unresonably benevolent and yet lacks basic intellectual empathy or logic.
even when she fails to pierce his heart with ice spines, instead of even slightly apologizing for deceiving him in the name of love, she instead starts calling him heartless and irreparably evil, like hey sicko susu, you are the real senseless rancid psycho here who is acting entitled. She should have rather boldly admitted to cheating him and that would make her seem more stable and normal, than say something like that. I would rather that they wrote her to hate him or take pity on him, the way she is written makes it feel like she has zero personal values. She is not undergoing cognitive dissonance, she is becoming a completely different person with a different set of values from one scene to the next.

I think we can all agree that we enjoyed this drama despite the technical errors. All because Leo Yunxi is MASTER in his acting and Bai Lu is amazing.

Your comments about the drama are on point.But I don't know what's in this drama that got me hooked up until now.Maybe the chemistry of the main leads which was overflowing that it beats all the bad things about this drama.
It is the deep themes behind the story, showing you how hypocritical the world can be and how heroes can be selfish, villains can be kind. It actually truly displaces the entire hero and villain thing. It shows you how you judge harshly and with great prejudice without knowing and understanding what another may be going through.
It also showcases change, that change can happen with a little bit of faith. Relationships can be mended once communication, compromising and understanding are present.
It shows you how good intention can change and how righteous looking people aren't all that righteous. There are numerous other themes to be mentioned that are very deep like the effects of bullying and the reward of kindness or even the importance of humbleness.
All of these deeper meanings in life applied to the fantasy plot of literally fantasy caused your enthrallment.

What AVX say are mostly based off the drama production faults, as in lighting, direction, too fast paced, plot logic, action made by the actors, makeup flaws... etc... Not an attack on the actors acting....though I really think she could have separate the rant and what actually works or went well with the drama...but it was a rant soo....its her opinion at the end of the day....
Though I agree with some, it doesn't really take away from the drama if one watch it unbiasly....if the drama is not someones cup of tea then no matter what , they won't like it, worse if they hate the actors are keep comparing it to LBFAD.... Never let another opinion stop you from trying something out... What they find off or not likeable you may not...So I advice anyone who is curious, check out the drama for themselves and if they don't like it the just drop it and move on....so many other dramas are out too...

I wasn't actually irritated by her rant at all the more you know what you're appreciating about the drama the more you will feel that the things she mentioned are totally valid but the artistry that is done right more than offset it for me

I watched more episodes and you are correct on stuff. However, actors’s chemistry is on fire and their acting skills pulls me into their story. I can’t get enough . It even made me look for more shows with them.

I had no expectations for this drama and decided to watch it on a whim. Now, I'm completely obsessed! The SFX and CGI was mind blowing to me. I also really love the female lead's costumes. It's such a beautiful drama and I love the leading couple. Luo Yunxi's acting captivated me. ❤️

No. I was there for the plot, the OST and to see what the hype was all about. It was totally worth it. This drama was just one of my top 3. The only thing I did not love was the God-life of both, since it reminded me of Eternal Love, but everything else was great.
I accept all your critique but it's still one of the best dramas I've seen this year, and there is one reason. Leo Luo and Bai Lu have amazing chemistry together, and Leo Luo is such a lovely antihero. I am totally obsessed with him. Just 100% eye candy. And I don't care about anything else. Also, I think his robes in human world are gorgeous. 😂😍😍 All the drama around this drama with hashtags and promos will not be seen by international viewers, and we can just enjoy the actors as they are. And another thing I wanted to point out. This is a total catnip for a lover of paranormal romance genre if you ever read any such books. So, I am interested in reading the actual novel to get more of the plot. It gives me nostalgia for all the crazy tropes. 🤪

Oh myyy when you mentioned abt paranormal romance in the end it gives me feels 😂😍 back to all those days when I fangirl over demon / vampire / supernatural romance and xianxia tbh is by far the most romantic perhaps because it's so quintessentially romantic in a chinese way that I feel that nothing else ever quites compare to that. The 三生三世 kind of setting really does it for me, it makes love and life itself appear so much more vast in the grand scheme of things and that moves me on an entirely different level.

Lol and she rapes him. Her lines are “this will take away your physical strength” “take away your voice” and gets on top of him when he’s powerless and does what she likes with him. Lol just imagine if the roles were reversed and he said these things, and did this to her lol it’s called rape. Even between couples, even married couples, there’s something called consent.
I do not agree that she raped him. It was clear that he found her compelling. Look back on the scene. See his reaction to her approach, see his eyes, how he held her hand, how he responded to her. That was a welcome. He was not averse to her forward approach, in fact he participated. He was a willing and happy participant. Yes I know what she said about taking away his voice etc, but his whole demeanour was, "I want this". Had he just lain back and took it, that would have been an argument. She read him right. I think that if on her approach he had displayed disgust or anger or some other antagonistic reaction, she might have been put off. Who knows! I am loving this show! 😀

Honestly Im not anyone who cares about lighting or other technical stuff. All I know no one can done best job as devil god and goddess as LYx and bailu They are the main plot or everything you need for the drama ehich make you impatient for next episode. They make you fall in love with their characters that its just make you feel impossible to watch their separation part 😔. One of the best drama of 2023 period .
Lucklily i didn't follow your review. I love the drama so much. Despite the bad makeup, i love how the pace of the story envolving really quick, the chemistry between the lead, the acting, bailu who never trying to be acting pretty all the time. And the wardrobe is beyond! Although it is ridicilous watching the scene where they sleep with the giant headpiece and same clothes without changing it
I’m glad she talked about how childish and naive some of the values/ideals are in this drama. I’ve been watching going, “I’ve gotten too old to watch these dramas” thinking I’ve just matured too much for them. Legit thought they were just made for people solely in their early 20s or something. Turns out, it’s just how the drama is 😆

I was just thinking some of the-admittedly very light-sexual undertones and conversations surrounding how the two main characters’ relationship starts and some of their scenes might be inappropriate to some viewers for teenagers. Public market nowadays in lots of sugar with some tragic scenes, preferably with lots of blood vomiting, and neverending misunderstanding troupe. They have no regards as to how story goes nowadays. That's why Korean drama sells so well these days. The same exact reason. But they are clever enough to cut the episode shorter so the plot idiocy won't bother too much. Lol

I usually agree with your drama reviews but this one seems a bit unfair. Idk how this drama is doing in China, but judging by the sentiment on western social media platforms like TH-cam and Mydramalist, 90% of international audience seems to be enjoying the show. It doesn't seem right for you to give it a goldmine/landmine rating (which is one of the worst ratings you've given shows on this channel) because tons of international audience come to your channel before starting a drama. Now I'm sure a lot of people will not give it a chance after seeing this rant, when in fact it is actually being well received by most international audience who have already started the show. Also most of your criticism is not on the acting or plot but rather technical things that the general audience probably wouldn't even notice such as the lighting, makeup, costume, changing attire before going to bed, pacing, etc. Judging by the acting and story alone, most would agree that this is probably one of the best to come out this year (at least for the xianxia genre).

Makeup, lighting - the technical things doesn't matter much to me if it's okay - as in if I'm not able to focus on the story - not the case here.
The wedding dress of Ming ye and Sang Ju was refreshing...I thought it showed the sea/clam tone of Sang Jiu's character & Ming Ye being a God - the dress quite well matched with the heavenly aura...

Other things - as for the consummation issue - it's the novel thing , novels do things worse than this and then they are suddenly a perfect couple so in love with each other.
As for this show - Haven't watched Love is sweet and no intentions to watch it in future.

This drama is rated lower than Immortal Samsara, Love you seven times, Royal Rumours, Scent of time and a bunch of terrible boring contemporary dramas as well. So yes Chinese people really don’t like it, I guess people in different countries have different ideas of what makes a good drama. Aveneux even said that she doesn’t really like fantasy XianXia dramas and made a video on it as well, so do take her comment on fantasy dramas with a pinch of salt
Normally, she has an opposite opinion with the public.
i first found this drama through a manhua by the same name. the manhua only has a few chapters, so i got curious and binge watched the drama instead. i'd say that there are many cliches and icks that i just can't overlook in the plot, especially the villain being evil just for the sake of being evil.
the devil god was born because there were sufferings and negative things in the world such as starvation, murder, etc, happening to living beings. it's also stated that as long as there are sufferings, the devil god can't perish. i don't remember whether it's explicitly explained in the drama or not, but by that logic, the devil god should be thriving if there are more beings suffering from those negative things. but no, the devil god's true purpose is destroying EVERYTHING in the world. wouldn't it mean that the devil god will lose his "ration"? how the hell will he even survive if there's no more suffering because there's no more living being??? who's gonna suffer if he kills all people, the devil god himself???
also, why does every villain in stories like video games, animes, dramas, always wanna destroy stuffs? like, what benefit do they get from it? it's never explained, there's no logic behind it. it's just because: "oh i'm the devil so i'm gonna do what people usually think as 'evil' without any valid logic and reason. ho ho ho." that's ridiculous. it's like kingdom hearts plot about "light" vs "darkness". it's just simplified to the point of stupidity: light = good, darkness = bad. what the fuck is that supposed to mean anyway? it just feels like a bunch of mumbo jumbo BS.
there's also the ick typically found in badly executed fantasy/supernatural stories. i get it that this is a fantasy setting and not everything has to be realistic. but make it make sense, set a few ground rules. an example i can remember on top of my head is the OG devil god's capability to posses the body of a person with the evil bone inside of themselves. if he can posses anybody, why didn't he immediately posses TTJ when he could immediately take control of dimian's body? did the OG devil god need to wait a certain period of time? was there a prerequisite? it's never explained, or maybe i just don't remember. my point is, a good supernatural/fantasy stories have to have solid rules for their fantasy worlds. you can expand the story from just a few simple rules. a good example is death note. a mystical note book that can kill people if you write their name on it. it's simple, no complicated mumbo jumbo BS needed.
I read that Luo Yunxi was injured in the mouth while filming another c-drama. He had stitches and went weeks without eating solid food, which is why he lost so much weight. Maybe that's the reason for his heavy makeup.

I love the drama. It is not perfect, but then is there a perfect drama? It is pretty good, I love the acting of the leading actor and actress. Can't get enough of it!
Currently enjoying this drama so far. ngl the make-up, editing and dubbing doesn't sit well with me sometimes but overall i'm loving this drama especially with the great acting by the main leads. I like their costumes too and even the CGI, fight scenes and story so far.
Finally someone put into words what I felt and I didn’t find any chemistry because literally there was hardly any bonding . First few episodes it looked different and interesting but then all these things mentioned started bothering me
I actually enjoy and love this drama a lot because the storyline is so different than so many others I've seen. The storyline starts really in actual world that has no Gods or Immortals anymore. :D So refreshing and different start. I love the costumes, even I must agree they are not very practical for the actors of the show and the make up... you are so right about that. It's the most bad part of this, but I let it through by thinking that this is dystopian xianxia, a bit different than traditional ones. This is set up in the world that it is chaos and how that chaos can be prevented. And I am happy that you told that they had to do so much editing and cutting because of the 40 episodes recommedation. It explains some of the plot holes I've noticed. In my honest opinion, even you rant about it and give critique, it is still one of the best ones I've seen and I've seen these a lot... It is a shame I´ve heard this drama won't have a happy ending, if it is true to canon. BTW you don't need to lose your mental health about my comments. I value a lot of your opinions and respect your opinions. You also give us information about the cultural differences that I have no idea about, because I am international fan of xianxia and have no knowledge about subtle chinese cultural references. Indeed this drama had a lot of plotholes but i'm enjoying the acting of the leads plus their amazing chemistry.Lou Yunxi and Bai Lu's acting were really good.Also i am a fan of Donghua,anime and manhua and watching this reminds me of those. I just take it as a live adaptation . To be fair,their take for being a Dunhuang based xianxia kinda refreshing to me with those amazing CGI.

I hated those ridiculous gold shoulder 'pads' too. Also...when you have an actor like Luo Yunxi, who can do wirework without breaking a sweat, why give him a fight scene where he just spin/slashes and poses? All the actors in this series deserve better.
Just looking at the skin on bones of his face, he must have lost a lot of muscle mass to the point that he cannot do the wirework.

I'm love this drama... Reminds me a lot of love between fairy and Devil in a way, not deny, but have your own history and layers. Of course have It some fails, but the plot of main male being bullying it's too good and i love the way they progression the plot, and when he get Power not retail as revenge but act with justice, against all we know about him of the future. You are on 17 Episodes, that means the dream part, so it's too early to make a video and form a solid critic. The dream looks disconnect to the main history, with a superficial look, but it's more too deep. It's a warning and a true face of the real personality. We see by the Yu'sisters, who's before The dream seems kindness and injusticed. I High recommend you keep watching

That scene where she first goes back in time and is immediately happy-go-lucky was so jarring! It also makes it impossible to take her resentment towards the ML seriously, because we as the audience haven't really been shown any of her relationships with the family she's just lost. So it's ONLY through her ongoing grief that we can get invested in her sense of loss. But it just isn't there!
It isn't there because it is supposed to have transformed into a sense of vocation to save her family and ppl in the 仙門 after she had that conversation with the Time God who basically told her that this is your destinied responsibility basically, and she heard it from her father as well right before she was sucked into the time travelling light. She's already picked up the pieces and 振作ed and knows that she has to pretend to be someone else now in yexiwu's body, so it would not have worked at all if she kept griefing openly anyway.

It read through alot of comments on this video and interestingly a few did point out the sensd of disjointedness between scenes. It does make a difference, but also I think for them to chop things down from 60 to 40 episodes is quite nearly impossible but they managed it so I would be more lenient when it comes to that and try to focus more on the overall storytelling knowing things have been forcibly condensed

A review that’s made a lot of points with sound professional knowledge. However, I think none of the points made will reduce the enjoyment of this drama. This is still a drama worth checking out in spite of all the negativity mentions here. This drama works due to the chemistry between the casts and the pacing, which is breathtakingly fast and action packed. Just go with the flow and you will have a satisfyingly good watching experience.
I did not watch last year’s Love Between Fairy and Devil because the first episode was seriously boring that I never bothered to continue. This one I liked although I’m not a fan of Xianxia.
Being a xianxia fan, i also felt LBFAD boring and i really tried to enjoy but...pf i failed. I love TTEOTM and i put aside all the epic fails (makeup really ruins my sight, dry lips, ML eye shadow, wig glue, his hairstyle, his costumes) but i love that couple so much that i take it for what it is. Truth is i havent skipped a sec since ep 1, and im a famous dropper and skipper LOL
Please give love between fairy and devil another try. It really was good. Better than this drama except for the kissing. The kissing in this drama is real 😂

I think the acting in TTEOFM is more solid than LBFD 😅 No offense to Dylan & Easter but you can see that Lou Yunxi and Bailu is more seasoned actors. Without saying a word, the two of them can convey different emotions by just looking at their face and eyes...

Lasted a bit longer, till ep. 22 mainly for ML's acting, but just couldn't make myself to care after that. I don't really care that much about the visuals, it's the story and characterisation that I had the issue with. I thought the first ~ 10 episodes were quite promissing but after we enter the dream arc, it all goes downhill. The forced misunderstandings and lack of communication, the lack of character continuity, the way FL is written (and I agree it's nothing the actress could do anything about), the way they're using comic elements in situations that should be serious, the extremely long sequences of nothing but cgi. I could go on and on. TTEOTM was the first drama that pulled me in really quick only to dissapoint me shortly after. Waisted potential in my opinion and wasted acting talent.
Personally, I like "Till the end of the moon" and will continue to watch it. Avenue X's criticisms are very valid and I often agree with them, but I don't follow them blindly, because there is always some subjectivity. For example, there are certain actors and actresses that she appreciates very much, whatever the drama may be, but whose performance, from my point of view, ends up being always the same type of characters, not daring to innovate. Furthermore, we must not forget that this drama had to be reduced to 40 episodes.

I really want to watch this as I adore Lou Lunxi playing tragic tortured roles. His face is made for them, & I think he’s not only gorgeous to look at, especially in period dramas, but also a great actor. As for his makeup, let’s be honest, with his beautiful face I don’t even notice is makeup 🥰
I also think what I take away from the clips I’ve seen of this drama is that it’s pure fairytale fantasy & not meant to be compared with reality.
What might stop me watching it is that I’ve heard it doesn’t have a happy ending 😕

I'm enjoying this drama waaay to much and looking forward to the next episode. Thi is the same feeling I had when I was watching Love Between Fairy and Devil.
I am now on episode 39 and can't wait for tomorrow's farewell. I had re-watch the Thai dubbed version to episode 6 now as well. I miss this couple like crazy and couldn't sleep or focus for a month now because I am super glued to their chemistry in TTEOM. I don't see or notice any of the rants mentioned here. I only wish they did not cut the episodes to short it out. However, cutting is good too for faster pace to eliminate non essential scenes.
This is the best drama I have watched since decades ago. Bai Lu and Lou Yunxi are the perfect choice to make this drama on 🔥 fire.
Not getting into technical things which you are more of an expert with but for overall entertainment, 3 goldmines for me! Someone mentioned this show is like crack and you cant wait for the next one and I have to agree. I even looked up Youku but decided against it. So I will just be patient and wait for youtube and Viki to catch up but man there is something about the way Luo Yunxi stares, tilts his head, or just his eyes but it is hypnotically captivating!!
I so agree! Luo has a kind of hypnotic appeal that I can't resist. Obviously not the cup of tea if you are a woman who is into USA type macho man all muscles no brains. But for me Luo is mesmerising and an incredibly talented actor.

I agree with the makeup and lighting part. Also, at the beginning of the drama that hot and cold attitude of the FL drove me crazy. I thought of dropping this drama after episode 1 but watched through it, and now in episode 18, I think they finally found a pace. Like you can understand they need to progress this story quickly because come on they need to show 4 lifetimes and that's going to take time.
So there is 4 life cycles--- Interesting. We are only had one this far + timeline that is going on at the moment ep 20.
Almost 30 eps in, and this drama has lost its mind. Lol. I don't know what the female lead is thinking. I admit I'm fast-forwarding through things, and I might've missed important details lol, but for real, I CANNOT understand the female lead. Wth. The male lead is obviously obsessed with her, and I can roll with his obsession because of his trauma, but the female lead goes randomly back and forth inside her emotions and just derails everyone else's emotions and stories. Either you're morally grounded and do right by your family from the future by killing the guy or you love the guy and choose to let him live! I DON'T UNDERSTAND. Her being hot and cold makes absolutely no sense because she is mostly hot and in love with him, giiiiiiiiirrrrllllll!!

The Tantai Jin from 500 yrs ago is a totally different person. Although everyone knew he will do something VERYYYYYY BADD in the future, it does not give FEMALE LEAD the license to torture him or worse kill him (which is not possible yet).

I've reached Ep18 before deciding to watch your video in case of spoilers, and I think I'm possessed because I'm enjoying the drama despite the flaws HAHAHA (esp in Ep8 which I was having a field day from the lack of logic with the ambush scene). Your points are spot on and something I noticed too, where the hair decor/outer clothing is not removed before sleeping!
Regardless I think I might keep watching because the acting is brilliant personally. Both LYX and Bailu are incredible. But honestly hearing the hashtags mentioned at the end is so appalling. They did LYX so dirty it's bizzarre. Not entirely sure I want to keep supporting the platform or the drama. But thank you for the honest review, and the observations about lighting is something I never considered.
I had problem with the drama's makeup in the beginning too. At the first trailer, I thought it was too theatrical. I overlooked it because I loved the lead' chemistry, and luo yun xi, ugh.

I think it's because the series deviates from the plot of the original novel. In the novel, ML becomes a darker character and FL also torments him for a while, but she then realizes that ML also has a lot of betrayal and hatred from those around him, turning him evil. That is why she began to sympathize with him.
However, I dislike the part in the memory of the dragon god and the clam princess's dream. Not a true ML and FL reincarnation, just different characters, so I don't know what that brings. The only advantage I can think of is that it can provide a brief history of the ancients, but these parts consume more episodes than necessary.
I also feel that when you watch a drama as a critic you’re looking at all the negative points. For example when I interview a candidate on their communication I feel I’m focusing to see if they are making any mistakes. I could be wrong but that’s just my two cents. There are some plots in the drama that definitely did frustrate me. I didn’t have a problem with the overall makeup ( loved the eyeliner 😂) but I agree that the eye shadow was slightly too much. However I absolutely loved the drama, his acting, their chemistry, the storyline and a lot of their scenes together. I watched this drama 6 months ago and I’m still having withdrawal symptoms. I made my sister and cousin watch it too and they loved it. And I’ve been seeing 80% positive feedback overall about the drama across the globe so that’s a good sign. I’m just so glad I decided to watch this drama. It was an unforgettable journey for me ❤
Oh well. I'm inlove with this drama! Bai Lu's acting is fantastic. I find the dream sequence beautifullysad🤩🤩🤩. We see different story, of different couples. I got to explore, and saw the drama in a wide perspective, even the side characters have their own stories shown. I am obsessed with how Tantai Jin gets shy! It is amazing, hopefully the story gets better than it is!!❤

It was the miscommunication and the back and forth that annoyed me the most. If they wanted to be unrealistic and make her fall in love with him super fast then okay, but stick to it and have them instead team up and work together ala LBFAD but the constant back and forth, like "It's a silly fairytale. Nope. Now we're gonna go angsty and try to be more realsitic. Nope. Back to fairytale. Nope. Back to..." etc. It gave me whiplash and made it impossible for me to empathize with the FL because she was too wishy washy. And yeah, that orange eyeshadow made him look sickly.
this was a very frustrating watch lol. too many misunderstandings and mistrust between our OTP and was pretty toxic imo. also the evil things that the evil people do make you want to pull your hair out lol

Loved the CGI and fight scenes. Costumes were very beautifully made and I definitely did not go into Xinxia dramas for historical correctness. But I see your viewpoint, everyone has their own taste. Also, the plot was quite repetitive, which was the love- hate between the main leads until the end. But the chemistry was very sweet. I wasn’t moved about their love until the Bo’re life and Tantai Jin and Susu.
Overall- I give it 9.5 I wouldn’t rewatch the whole series 5xs, maybe only certain scenes, but I still enjoyed it.
Finally, a review that is objective. The CG has so many small details that are well made, but look very jarring when put together because the colour grading and colour coordination is terrible. I felt physical pain when I watched the characters sleeping with their jewellery on.
The story is so badly paced, the main characters actions seem ridiculous. The female lead's 360 on the male lead who murdered literally everyone she knew gave me whiplash.
Yes... the CGI is kind of uneven too, good in certain scenes, really crappy in others. It's just sloppy.
Her change makes sense to me. She clearly sees that hes being extremely bullied, no power, and hasn’t done anything remotely evil so it’s like a diff person..Any sane person wouldn’t blame him for the murder knowing that they are 500 yrs In the past and it hasn’t happened yet. And imo, she hasn’t even been that nice to him so far lol. She still always going on in her head that she’s trying to kill him.

After almost a year since her video talking about the changes that needed to be made in xianxia genre, when finally we encounter a production that takes some of those same risks she had claimed for, she ripped it apart. Not only that, she distances herself from her usual way of reviewing, and couldn´t find one good thing. It felt completely biased (I can´t believe she talked well about Romance in the little forest and here...). It was a total disappointment seeing this lack of coherent, needles to say that usually, her ways of giving negative reviews for other dramas - despite me liking them or not - are quite rude to so I´m prioritizing other review channels. Eventually, it´s a matter of taste but never follow blindly what others say and keep an inquisitive and open mind to judge despite other voices. With wisdom and experience come respect. This comment is for those that read this section: this show has magnificent visuals - costumes are great and exquisite, CGI stunning, dramatic color palette and recreation of every world - and very good performances, with an outstanding ML one - very very very rare to find in xianxia. It´s not perfect: it suffers from the 40-episode rule and some problems with the characterization of the FL, but is very good and breaks some boundaries for future dramas. Finally, we have a real dark ML that evolves and we don´t have a naive childish-voice fairy that has to be rescued all the time, besides the good aspects mentioned before. Also, it requires you as a viewer to have patience to unveil the plot and understand some things.
She's a hypocrite suffering from ageism. It's like she's too old to appreciate naivety or understand passion and she's proud of it. A drama made exactly to her liking will not be enjoyable to watch lol
Absolutely! And her whole 'the female lead has gone through trauma so this is the only way she should react in a new environment' thing is annoying. People with trauma respond in different ways. Not that i didn't have issues with li su su. Sangjiu's character made perfect sense tho. Li su su's felt like it was missing a lot of bits. And i found this story so damn personal. Having experienced anhedonia, pssd, depression, a vicious inner critic that resembles the ancient devil god's voice and struggled with moral dilemmas...i so deeply related to the main lead's evolution...

The drama was frustrating interspersed with brilliant acting and a few excellently shot scenes. The story lacks consistency even though the bare bones of the story are brilliant! My biggest gripe though, is that the conflicts can mostly be resolved by characters simply talking to each other and displaying natural curiosity.
I just finished watching this drama recently and personally I was really impressed with it. There was no boring episode and I liked it that it was very actioned packed and ofcourse is a drama full of angst. Is not an usual romantic Xianxia drama.
Indeed some of the things you have mentioned also took me out from the story telling atmosphere: the makeup (first few episodes were horrible, all the actresses were white like a ghost), the lighting, the seasons (it made no sense, it was snowing, then next scene we had green trees and fields), characters wearing headpieces and their normal clothes even when sleeping and some parts of editing (at least the first few episodes).
But overall it wasn't a bad drama at all, the costumes, the CGI and most important the Actors Acting saved up for the smaller flaws. I wish they would have had more episodes and not rush the ending and give us a few more minutes of a proper closure for all the characters.
It's just so odd to me, your dislike of this drama.
I really enjoyed your video where you were talking about the poor state of modern xianxia, how it all has the same aesthetics, how nobody has anything to do but be in love, how they all just run through the same plot as 10MoPB or Journey of Flower.
Then you watch something that really is doing something different, aesthetically and plotwise, and all you can focus on is the fact that his eyeshadow is warm while his eyebrows are cool? Or that there's a misunderstanding wrapped around a deception because the FL has a mission to save the world that's more important than being in love? I mean, it's not somebody eavesdropping and then completely changing their opinion of somebody based on one sentence out of context!
I realize there's lots of problems with the drama, and yes the CGI is very video game-ish sometimes, but I'm really surprised you're not at least happy that it's something that is new, that is different.
It's just confusing to me, I do like your content, but I'm honestly a little confused about what you want from a drama at this point.
Ikr? Like this drama has a lot of plot holes and flaws but the story and theme is really refreshing. Not to mention the incredible chemistry and ofcourse LYX's characterization
I enjoyed this drama for what it was! The chemistry between the main characters worked, I loved the make-up and the over-the-top, well everything!
I am revisiting Cdramas after a bit of a break and I'm having trouble figuring out where to find timely and intelligent writing. I loved the way clues were dropped and intentionally shot in Love Between Fairy and Devil and I'm willing to watch any genre as long as the character development and writing and direction is of a similar quality. Perhaps I am ignorant to a place to find recommendations based on these things and not simply by genre or actor, but I'd appreciate any recommendations of dramas or perhaps an AvenueX playlist that I am as of yet unaware of that indicates the best dramas she'd recommend.

Who wouldn't want to watch this great costumes and visuals. I like it with it's shortcomings. As you said bad directing, I detected that too. We are chasing it TILL THE END OF THE MOON😍😍😍
I have watched many fantasy Cdramas, and I'll say that if this show is bad then other Cdramas should not even exist.. Fantasy Cdramas are always full of plot holes but I guess this one has one of the least plot holes among all of them, and not to mention awesome CGI and even above that costumes are completely mesmerizing..
One complaint about this drama I have is that at some places I feel story is randomly cut off. For eg: When TantaiJin was really injured by poison and other bodily harms but was saved by Ye Xiwu using power of World Jade, at that time Tantai Jin was unconscious and went to dream and was in conversation with Devil God, but in very next scene he appears, we see him conquering Jin Kingdom, like how randomly story jumped to that??
I dropped this drama by Ep 11. I just can't get over the way with the logic of the World Alluring Jade lol
Somehow this series really pulling me in, I can't wait for the next episode. Now that you have mention some of the negatives. I do see some of the flaws. Make up is bad, there's not enough emphasis on how the female lead feel about being force to protect the main lead, there's major plot hole pushing the storyline. They did made a couple of good ideas, such as speeding up the storyline to avoid overthinking, chemistry of the main leads are good. I'm very impress with the 2nd female lead acting ability. I hate her, but I can see it's because of her acting, she's quite impressive at making people emotional. and true, they didn't do much or explain much about the 2nd lead couple. Good analysis as always!!
I loved “Till the end of the moon” I thought it was well written and magnificently performed. Never a dull moment and left you wanting to see the next episode. I thought CGI was great and costumes were good. I also absolutely love the chemistry between Luo and Bai Lu and I think it’s okay to focus on the two main leads. This drama was very entertaining and I would recommend it to other people to watch cause you won’t be disappointed. This drama still has not lost the number 1 rating on YOUKU. This drama was not her cup of tea and that’s okay but it was certainly my cup of tea.
