I enjoyed this drama very much and she was not his stepmother she was more like his mentor,Also I watched William Chan and Yang mi ‘s drama and he was her teacher or mentor and there are many dramas like this where the female character and her teacher or mentor fall in love. I don’t go by what critics say I watch it and decide for myself weather it’s good or not.
You kill me!!! Yang Mi in this drama is like an employee who just waiting to punch out on the time clock not doing anything In between. So true I noticed from the first episode I was like why is she so lazy in this drama 😂
Oh....good thing I'm not the only one... First ep.... I was like... I don't remember Yang Mi's acting was this bad (I haven't watched any of her drama in such a long time). She's not even trying to make the character interesting.
I thought i was the only who gives up if the first episode isnt promising enough. People usually pressure to watch a few more before rating a drama but honestly, the more you watch it, the more likely you are to let the bad quality grow on you😂
I think it's because honghong didn't treat him like a mother would, she did not shower him with motherly love so he also did not see her as a mother figure but a powerful spirit mentor that could help him cultivate his power to take revenge. He was also their asset as an emergency sacrificial tool to cleanse the darkness with his spiritual blood at the start but she definitely did not fall for him until later on when yuechu started to flirt with her.
It happens in danmei (BL) novels like Sha Po Lang, Heaven Officials blessing, Scum villian, Erha where one of them is a child when they meet and mostly grow up under their watch and guidance and no one has a problem with it. People also have no problem if it's the female lead who's younger and grow up to like the ML. It's always the excuse that ML didn't like her when she was a child. Same thing is applicable for this drama too, FL didn't like him as a child and kept him there as a sacrifice incase it's needed. I actually got disgusted in LBFAD where he literally grows her as a plant and then getting with her like a happy ending. It's hypocritical to get disgusted when it's a male and older female. And technically she didn't raise him, she mostly stayed away from him and showed him no affection.
@@chixkgoddess8499 the first few parts about the BL storyline was understandable but when you mentioned LBFAD....that's not the same🙄🙄🙄 she was just a plant and not a little kid. Not sure where the connection is to the others.

XL only fell in love with HC at 800 years so😭😭 But I agree for SVSSS though💀
Having been a huge fan of WOH, I have always thought GJ's acting in WOH came down to chance of the right role and the right team bringing it out of him and coaching him and taking the camera out at the right time. Everything he has done since has just continued this impression.
Couldn't agree more: the director - whose job it is - got an astonishingly expressive performance from Gong Jun, in WoH, but no-one else seems to be able to unlock this level of performance.
I saw the bts of woh, and i noticed zhang zhehan and the directors coaching and helping him in his acting, which made the character in him come out good. Thanks to their guidance, he did well in it. Sad to see zhang zhehan can't be in the acting industry anymore😢. He is a talented actor
Incest / pedo / grooming storylines are everywhere these days and being normalized, I am so glad some commentators such as you AvenueX keep noticing and denouncing these things.
I think last year or the year before, I was trying to watch American television, and the hottest shows all had disgusting child abuse plotlines. It's like hurting kids is okay, and knowing what actually happens to child stars in Hollywood makes it worse.
Never stop being you, AvenueX. You are a natural at this and your reviews are always spot on. Loved your work for The Untamed and Word of Honor. That is how you got me hooked.
Same!! I found AvenueX through the videos about those two shows as well and she's my absolute go to to decide if I want to watch a show or not. Not once have I been disappointed!! And as for Gong Jun, I guess there's just nothing for it, if I want to see him, the only way to go is rewatching WoH... a shame but okay, whatever 😅
Thank you, AvenueX, for your explanation of the whole matchmaking business, because the story has nothing to do with matchmaking, and I was puzzled about the role of the Divine Tree in the drama's world. So confusing! Well, such dramas are good for being ranted at least.
Its obvious Yang Mi did not want to do this. she looks totally uninterested. She has since left her agency, because some of the parts offered are so poor. She really needs to get back on track soon!!!
I had high hopes but it was SO BORING. They went off the rails from the original IP, but not in a good way. I gave up after episode 2. 😂 like yessss give me NOTHING
This drama is an example of my motto in life which is "too much expectation may lead to disappointment". I'm very excited at first because of my favorite cdrama stars who are on it but ended dropping it midway. I really tried my best but I give up in the end and started to watch The Double instead.
oh no, I hope the second in the series with ChengYi is better. Poor Gong Jun. This reminds me of the roles lately for Xiao Zhan, very heroic roles, but unlike the WWX character, not snarky, mischievous, unconventional, absurd, which gave him so much range to play with, there are so many times actors get typecast, which I don't approve of, but why not play to their strengths and well, let them have some fun? idk.
I hope the same for Cheng Yi's drama! I'm definitely not a xianxia fan, but I'll watch anything with him in it. Agree with Xiao Zhan too, though I haven't watched the modern dramas of his. Hoping this next political one will be good since I like the court intrigue stuff.
@@gudrun5531 Yes XZ did try to explore but his modern dramas didn't so much as expected. I am also eagerly waiting for his new one, something I feel would fit him.
I agree with you on one Xiao Zhan being typecasted as this..." heroric "....perfect person boyfriend/ husband in his recent modern dramas....TOOL was enough and they missed the mark in Ace Troops as it should have been him and Bai lu as leads....even as a fan Im not blinded to see none of his modern roles equate to the board spectrum Wei Wuxian character did for his abilities as an actor....Im also looking foward to his Court Intrigued drama and also his upcoming film....he has the ability to play dark, morally gray and psychopathic characters...yet recently hes stuck playing this one dimensional heroric, savior ,romance roles.....even he wants a drama where hes a Villian 😅😂😂...
I don't understand why Xiao Zhan's name is mentioned here. It has nothing to do with this video. In fact, the only one they should worry about is the Cheng Yi's drama that belongs to this franchise. But your assessment of Xiao Zhan's role is biased. If you read the book "Mo Dao Zu Shi" you will realize that this was Wei Wu Xian's personality. Funny, joking, not very serious and that's how Xiao Zhan interpreted it perfectly. His modern dramas are not bad, he has a range of improvement, but he is much better than other actors who cannot express themselves very well in these types of dramas. In fact, "The Sea in Dreams" is a beautiful self-improvement drama that gave two (2) awards, one award "Best Actor of the Year" and another "Best New Actor" to Xiao Zhan. I also look forward to his new dramas, but obviously the haters will be watching to try to damage his good works and deny his acting development that has been improving because he also works very hard to perfect himself. ❤ I think that because of his personality, they give him character roles "good boy", but I don't rule out his performance as a villain, it would be interesting. 🤔
FYI, Jaywalk actors did not have a choice on what show and roles to take. Yang Mi never wanted to play this role but Jaywalk was heavily invested in this drama. Anything the Jaywalk touches since after TMOPB becomes a borefest. She had since left Jaywalk. This is why as soon as their contract finished, Maggie Huang, Wang Xiao, and Zhang Binbin left.
She was one of Jaywalk’s founders and biggest shareholders! She and her agent at her previous company left and set up Jaywalk together. She’s practically the owner. She voluntarily entered the VAM (valuation adjustment mechanism) with another company in exchange for their investment and voluntarily did multiple bad projects to meet the profit target in the VAM (otherwise she and other shareholders had to pay back the investment plus a hefty interest), ruining her own reputation as a serious actress. She had absolute control over every decision at Jaywalk because she was the owner and the main employee. The saying that “capital ruins everything” is still valid here because she IS capital.
To those people who only sees gong jun on BL dramas, because they are obviously BL fans, try Rising with the Wind, He portrayed as a cunning young banker who falls in love with the Heiress (Elaine) of an old shoe company, the story is quite touching and educational especially to those in the Finance and business sector, also it has a lot of flirting and kissing scenes😏, the cast, their chemistry, the production, are well executed and not overly done and Simon's wardrobe are superb, He portrayed Xu Si really well to the point, I kinda hate him for doing his job (as a banker) instead of being a boyfriend and help Elaine's character, he is not playing when he said he is the best banker in town 😭 Another fave of mine is The Legend of Anle, Han Ye and Ren Anle was well executed by Simon and Dilraba despite the change in script, the story got altered and edited to suit the newbies instead of the leads, and the CGI and production sucks, but I still watched it till the end because of Simon and Dilraba's chemistry, and they portrayed their roles really well, I really like how he portayed the elegance of a prince which Prince Han Ye is known for, also I personally like Simon and Reba's chemistry on and off camera. As for me, he has a very good chemistry with his female leads epecially with Dilraba, YuTong, Elaine, and Bridgette. I don't know about you but Simon has a good chemistry with his female leads, you are just blinded by his BL roles. If you enjoy watching modern and historical dramas I highly recommend Rising with the wind, The Legend of Anle, Begin Again, and Dream Garden. I like to see him act with those beautiful actresses, and hope he continues to do more dramas like that in the future. As for FSMM, I only watch it because of Simon. Ye Chu's character is a cute soul who will do anything for his loved ones, I would like to praise the CGI team for the beautiful scenery and special effects they did, the costumes are beautifuly crafted, but what disappoints me the most is the script, it was poorly written, if the script was good I guess it would be ok.
Yeah, I couldn’t get passed the first 3 episodes. As soon as The Double uploaded I’m obsessed with it, can’t watch other dramas just now, currently reading the novel too.
I am more like the novel than the drama. Especially Ji Heng character is more depth, unpredictable, intimidate and 'lazy' in novel 😂😂 the character that i like in drama than in novel is surprisingly is the princess. She is more psychopath, powerful, crazy, moody, intimidating, hateful and more controlling shen yurong whenever she want (shen yurong obey her). While in novel she is more submissive n meek often compromised with shen yurong (shen yurong have more control than her). I seriously more hate the princess in drama than in novel (which is a good sign, means the character left strong impression)
@22aagnieszkaa22 I think TMOB worked because they met when the ML already mature, so it did not make people goes "ew" and their acting and chemistry were great, especially Mark Chao, Yangmi's acting was better in TMOB than this. TMOB is a whole different level drama (a lot lot better in every aspect).
i'm actually not hv too much problem with age gap love cus i always switch off my modern perspective fr this genre of dramas, plus i watched Return of Condor Heroes and legend of white snake be4 so i kinda already hv immunity with this kind of dramas, my problem is more like what cause HongHong can fall in love with Dongfang Yue Chu? other cases re usually their relationship develop through multiple hardship n trial together, or at least something extreme happen n trigger the Love feeling, but this one like hitting a Jackpot "Yesterday, i'm your Nanny, Today, i Love You"... i'm like @_@ Huh,Wth, how?!??? especially cus that HongHong is matchmaker for God's sake, She is literally a Love Guru, why she falls in love so easy, feel like she is so... cheap??😵💫😵💫😵💫
Nowadays they pair young handsome guys with advanced age actresses as if there are no more young beautiful can act Ladies! Take for e.g. Bailu with the young chico in Kunning Palace...Aunty and nephew? Got blasted by Paid Fans on the Aunty issue? Couldn't care less I have the right to comment bad or good! Right?
@@michaelms1337 Same here. The age gap doesn’t bother me except for the fact that she has acquired so much knowledge and wisdom compared to Dongfong. Ah, my modern sensibilities are creeping in 😁
Most comments regarding GJ acting in WOH is superb, every ep is worth watching, as in this drama maybe the vlogger and We are expecting the same but it was a diff story and director, in WOH the camera always got the good angle of the actors and focuses on the facial expressions unlike in this drama the camera sometimes shoot to far. But you can see on his acting, he tried his best esp Yang Mi is his leading lady. Let see on his next drama....
I was about to do my housework when I saw this latest rant by Avenue X on my feed and hastened to click it open. Really entertaining rant, this one. I think with so much scolding, Yang Mi needs to do a different genre by now. And poor Gong Jun, I do agree that I haven’t seen him excel after Word of Honour. I couldn’t stand even episode 1 of this drama. As Ms X said, YM has this uninterested look in her eyes and GJ looks like he is acting with his mother’s youngest sister😛😆 Thanks for another juicy, satisfying rant that we perverse souls like. After this marriage delivery tree fiasco, these producers should spend some of their budget hiring some consultants to rationalise their storylines and script. People are getting smarter each day.
They really need to stop with the problematic age gaps in dramas. I dont care if it's older man young woman or older woman younger man. It doesn't work majority of the time. It just looks awkward and most idol actors do not have enough acting chops to create chemistry. The age gaps for idol dramas should be at most 5 years. Yang Mi looks like an Auntie next to Gong Jun just like how Zhao Liying, as pretty as she is, looks so tired and mature next to Wang Yibo. I would say the same for older men and young women too. Hong kong shows are constantly casting 40 year old actors paired with 25 year old actresses and it does not work at all. All it does is give viewers the ick.
I'm sad this one didn't work out because I like the pairing and main cast of the other two series which makes me worried. I may have been ok with the lack of good acting, not following the ip, and MAYBE even the grooming storyline IF I could feel the love and effort put into the storyline. However I don't feel the chemistry between characters, depth in characters to make things make sense, reason a character exists or their motives. Everything just feels like it drags and they're just relying on a star studded traffic cast list to push it.
Honestly, in a way I felt like I was watching the cut scenes of a video game, like the Grief Tree was literally giving them missions, also they did the "Main Villain is actually a cloud of black smoke" which I really dislike I still kind of want to see the next two installments though
You nailed it. I watched the other two dramas and enjoyed them, but I'm up to episode 5 of FSM and the only thing keeping me awake is my stationary bicycle. I have to ride while I watch otherwise zzzzzzzzzzzzz
Gong Jun tries his best to pull out this shitty scenario and Yang Mi's shitty work. I really feel sorry to him got involved in this project. In every scene he tries to bring it to live but it just so poorly written that nothing can be done. So sorry for all the actors really even though they got money, but this project is just a stain in their careers.

I agree with you, I was so disappointed with this drama, no chemistry between the leads and borderline creepy and the worst crime it’s sooooo boring! My favorite drama is Eternal Love!
What you want to search for is wuxia. It's my favorite in Chinese drama land and there are many out there. Xianxia is more magical like this and a few dramas has both.
i do like your voice.. that and your rant is keeping me in my seat to watch this whole video 🤣 edit : I agree about the matchmaking part. it's basically the foundation of the story yet the removed that. also, the way they did the world-building by just narrating it instead of showing it..super lazy work.
2 ep in and I can't continue with it. This drama is over flow with cringe and eek. The chemistry between the leads is just awful. What a waste of money!
I just watched the first 20mins of the 1st episode, and i could not continue. It feels icky to even think of them together. She literally was like a mother to him.
I have been dying to hear your thoughts on this drama. I feel like it was long awaited just to be a regular fantasy idol drama that I couldn't even watch past ep 5. Comp agree w your thoughts on the main couple's chemistry and relationship
I was going to watch this tv show but after this video, and learning what the story line is …hell no! Thank you for saving me time and frustration from watching this 😊
Can't agree more, I like Simon Gong but you hit the nail on the head, that he can't act opposite a woman. He really feels like a one hit wonder, I just hope for his career that "Dark River" will work.
Funnily enough Return of the Condor Heroes has the same premise (older FL who raises younger ML) yet it's considered one of the most popular c-dramas.. Also I have to say there's something pretty bad about idealizing one drama (WOH) so much that you refuse to give any other works by those actors a chance. I feel bad for BL actors because this always happens to them.. BL dramas will blow up an actor's career but afterwards their audience only see them in BL settings and either consciously or subconsciously refuse to see their "chemistry" with FLs.
The story of a young child falling in love with a teacher is not new and is not the problem. The problem is this series with Gong Jun with no apparent reason just fall in love with Yang Mi and he is SO aggressive about it - every other sentence he utters is “I want to protect you”, “I want to be next to you”. Look at Condor Heroes, basically similar story but the love between Little Dragon Girl and Yang Guo developed slowly and was quite moving. In this drama, ML was actually quite irritating and Yang Mi walks around like a corpse - she actually waits for a corpse to come alive again. How can love develop under this situation?
The difference between a good storyteller like Jin Yong and whoever the hell wrote this script. At least Xiao Longnu is only ~6 years older than Yang Guo compared to the age gap in here. It's so gross
So this is going way back, but Hank Green mentioned the ickyness of age differences in twilight in a very succinct way: "it's not gross because they *look* old, it's gross because they *are* old." Sums it up really well, i think.
I was really looking forward to this drama but sadly, I dropped it after a few episodes. I never felt a chemistry especially on the main CP. I am a fan of most of the casts but this script and production does not work. "The marriage certificate tree" made me laugh so hard
I felt exactly the same way, I look forward to it for soooo long only to end up disappointed, It doesn't keep me for wanting to watch more of the episodes, i think the double did a better job in term of interesting

You're being too kind this time... But kudos to you, I only lasted until episode 3. I was so annoyed so I just seek Rants from Mainland reviewer channels in TH-cam. It's more fun watching those rants than watching this trash. I guess that's why I enjoyed the Double that much... it's a far more enjoyable series than this trash. Yang Mi, 3 strikes in 1 year!!! And she actually really think she's succesfully bring new actings?? Those ridiculous boastings prior - from hiring special acting coach, rewatching original anime for accurate head tilt, etc. And then she ran to another shooting even during the promotion period of this trash. I enjoy comparing her with Zhao Liying, whose improvements deserve praise.
Totally agree with this rant! I watched the first two episodes and then moved on to something else. Eventually, I thought I should give it a second chance. I skipped a few episodes, then fast-forwarded through a couple of episodes. Once again, I stopped and watched several other dramas. Finally, I tried watching the last two episodes. I realized that this drama was truly awful, and I rarely say anything about it.
Are the other two dramas have a same director and scripwriter? I mean their trailer looks promising, if it turn out they have the same team, I can only pray hard.
Gong jun should move on from costume idol dramas. It is impossible to accept him doing a heterosexual male character in costume drama after word of honour😅
I struggled thru 5 episodes as I was determined to like it but finally had to admit defeat: Yang mi looked like she was sleepwalking and he looked like a puppy-cute, but all puppies are cute. Thanks for saying what I was thinking. Sigh.
Gong Jun as Wen Ke Xing, yes that character is very lively and has impressed me a lot in Word of Honor. In Fox Spirit Matchmaker, I only love watching the scene of Mao Zijun although he is one of guest stars🙂
OMG, Chinese dramas already push the envelope on what is considered appropriate marital /romantic relationships....This one just sounds off the charts!!
It’s hard to watch the two lead actors got together again after 安樂傳。After they seemed to forget how to act , the story is ridiculous, l couldn’t imagine myself watching many episodes of this drama.
Once again you are spot on. When I realized that the love interest was going to be between the adopted child (and they actually show him as a little kid) and his 800 year old "mother", I was like "WHAAAA"? Incest AND pedophilia!!! I'm open minded but... I really feel sorry for Gong Jun because I'm a fan and was hoping for something that showcased his acting talent and not just his abs.
Came here last month initially to start watching Yang Mi’s drama.. End up rewatching WOH on loop.. Just when I thought I finnaly got out from The Untamed pit, I fell into another one 😂❤
I agree with the characters in the drama totally different than the original anime, even the tree is not the tree anymore 😅. My mom only watched episode 1 and I lasted until episode 3. I'm actually looking forward for Cheng Yi's one the most, let's see how it's gonna be.
Fundamentally both original IPs currently don't have enough material to be adapted into 3 separate 30+ eps past life only dramas because each story chapter contains both contemporary and past life sections while each donghua ep averages about 10 min of actual story. Wang Quan Fu Gui and spider demon story in donghua probably totals about 2 hrs (maybe slightly more because characters are more intertwined in contemporary stories) of screen time. The amount of filler needed to make a long drama! Perhaps more workable is a drama that focuses solely on Dong Fang Yue Cu and his incarnations ending with some Bai Yue Cu stuff at the present. However, 1st female lead wouldn't exist here.
It's really sad that they can't get wuxia dramas right anymore. China is pretty much the only country making this kind of drama, if they were putting some effort into it, they could be so successful. Something is rotten somewhere. This one never made it on my list anyway since I gave up on fantasy dramas for a while now considering how childish and bad they all are nowadays. Watching Tale of Rose right now and I really really like it. It's not perfect, but I love the brother-sister relationship and also great chemistry between FL and her love interest (at least the first one, we'll see for the other two).
It's not just "could". When they DO try, it's great. The Legend of Yunxi is awesome historical fiction, The Untamed is a masterclass in non-linear storytelling, Word of Honor is probably the most gorgeous thing ever to appear on television, Snow Eagle Lord is an underappreciated masterpiece of LitRPG, even Journey to Love was an excellent war story despite it's bad pacing problems. And if you like great action, then Chinese drama will never disappoint. Nobody, not even Hollyood's best stunties, can outdo the Chinese in wirework and fight choreography. Plus, you know, women who are actual characters, and male romantic leads that I would not warn my straight women friends away from. When they get people who know what they're doing together, and hand them a good script, the production value can't be beat. They rarely have anything approaching the budget that Hollywood shows have, but the best dramas can rival them for quality.
@@golwenlothlindel I agree they have really awesome shows. I loved the Untamed and I really have to watch Word of Honor. I love your Rant 😂 I thought I am the one noticed about acting of Yang mi 😂 i feel boring to continue to watch enough episode 2 . Thank God there is new drama The Tale of Rose ❤❤❤ ..
So I watched the first 20-ish minutes of episode 1 and was very confused because it seemed like the atmosphere of the series was very serious but then they’d throw in those moments that were supposed to be silly and I was like, “HUH??? 🤨” cause they just seemed so misplaced. And then there is Yang Mi… I liked her in TMOPB and Palace and CP3 but I feel like her acting has gradually declined. I can’t really comment on Gong Jun for this drama because I didn’t even make it past the first 30 minutes of episode 1. 😅
I don't know what happened to Yangmi, her face and even eye expression doesn't even move most of the time. Is her character really like that? Gong Jun is still under-cooked after few projects. Is his fandom so big that they are still giving him lead roles?
Wang yixu cannot copy and paste because it’s the interest in Wang Hedi’s DFQC that boost the views!! He has the most important acting skills as an actor to play a character that people never get tired of and never forget.

I just love Yangmi red shoes from this drama...😅😅😂😂
@@karpathian_slaw7928 Same here. I didn't finish the first episode. I couldn't.
I thought i was the only who gives up if the first episode isnt promising enough. People usually pressure to watch a few more before rating a drama but honestly, the more you watch it, the more likely you are to let the bad quality grow on you😂
I find it super weird how the male lead fell in love with someone who is like his foster mother and raised him
I think it's because honghong didn't treat him like a mother would, she did not shower him with motherly love so he also did not see her as a mother figure but a powerful spirit mentor that could help him cultivate his power to take revenge. He was also their asset as an emergency sacrificial tool to cleanse the darkness with his spiritual blood at the start but she definitely did not fall for him until later on when yuechu started to flirt with her.
I know right! It was super disgusting. I stopped watching
@@chixkgoddess8499tgcf??? But XL didn't raise HC?😭 Sure they met when HC was younger but they had like max 3 interactions before XL ascended. Then XL came back for the war and HC was in his late teens and again they interacted like twice?? By no means did HC grow up under XL guidance though HC did fall for XL at first sight.
You can just say he's a bad actor,(which he is) i cant watch anything with him in it.
this! I've not enjoyed anything he's been in since then. it's like he's chasing after Wen Kexin's ghost
@@ironfro5683Well not everyone has taste
You know if AvenueX look SNATCHED, the rant gonna be spicy 🥵😂❤
Its obvious Yang Mi did not want to do this. she looks totally uninterested. She has since left her agency, because some of the parts offered are so poor. She really needs to get back on track soon!!!
Yes, I expected her to be as good as in Eternal Love, but it was totally the opposite.
I had high hopes but it was SO BORING. They went off the rails from the original IP, but not in a good way. I gave up after episode 2. 😂 like yessss give me NOTHING
i made it to the1st ep but just couldn't continue
This my line of thinking as well. Now I’m burnt by this production company+overhype.

Same for me😂😂
your description of the tree is so funny! It's a marriage certificate tree 😂😂
Totally agree. They hired so many A list actors for them to act out a weak script.
This drama is an example of my motto in life which is "too much expectation may lead to disappointment". I'm very excited at first because of my favorite cdrama stars who are on it but ended dropping it midway. I really tried my best but I give up in the end and started to watch The Double instead.
I haven't watched this one but i heard some bad reviews. And now i'm here for your rants 😂
Same I was waiting for AvenueX since there are so much bad reviews like no chemistry and Yang Mi's bad acting.
oh no, I hope the second in the series with ChengYi is better. Poor Gong Jun. This reminds me of the roles lately for Xiao Zhan, very heroic roles, but unlike the WWX character, not snarky, mischievous, unconventional, absurd, which gave him so much range to play with, there are so many times actors get typecast, which I don't approve of, but why not play to their strengths and well, let them have some fun? idk.
cheng yi and li yitong's one is the third i guesss.. cs the second is liu shishi's
Didn't she leave jaywalk?
@@aiakumu3579 she did. but remember, this was filmed two years ago when she was already in sour relationship with the other jaywalk owners.
I mean, that does not mean that she should do this half-heartedly. But she was prolly over being their cash cow.
How do you know she didn’t want to take this?
Same: The Double made me forget this drama. The Double will probably be the best drama of 2024.
Same here.
Where do you read the translated novel? I’d like to read it!

Not me thinking it was a family dynamics type of drama 🚶♀️🚶♀️

Absolutely on the money. I gave up after just a few episodes. The scenery looks pretty. That's the only good thing I can say about it.
And girls were pretty! Men in my family like to watch dramas because of girls! And even than...
Gong Jun looks really pretty in that hair and costume, too bad it all sounds a mess!😢
10 mins into episode 1 I switched it off and never went back. Some dramas you know right at the beginning will be beyond saving...
The accuracy is so real 🤣
Unrelated but your camera quality and lightning look absolutely amazing!
Honestly, in a way I felt like I was watching the cut scenes of a video game, like the Grief Tree was literally giving them missions, also they did the "Main Villain is actually a cloud of black smoke" which I really dislike
I still kind of want to see the next two installments though
You nailed it. I watched the other two dramas and enjoyed them, but I'm up to episode 5 of FSM and the only thing keeping me awake is my stationary bicycle. I have to ride while I watch otherwise zzzzzzzzzzzzz

I wish Gong Jun get a good script for his next drama
Gong Jun tries his best to pull out this shitty scenario and Yang Mi's shitty work. I really feel sorry to him got involved in this project. In every scene he tries to bring it to live but it just so poorly written that nothing can be done. So sorry for all the actors really even though they got money, but this project is just a stain in their careers.

Great review to watch after being away from YT 33 days!
From this ranting, I wonder whether it’s worth watching!!!😬😏😒🤦🏻♀️

It’s hard to watch the two lead actors got together again after 安樂傳。After they seemed to forget how to act , the story is ridiculous, l couldn’t imagine myself watching many episodes of this drama.
Gong Jun did a great job but he can’t carry a poorly written drama and a wooden FL on his own

YUUUPPPPP SAY IT LOUDER AVENUEX !
definitely could not have summed up this drama any better than you 🫠
Yang Mi is having a really great time atm....
I completely agree.. looks like relatives mother and son , grandma and nephew something similar 😅
It's been on my list, basically since the first time I heard avenueX talk about it (much later than its release) but still haven't got the chance. Ruyi's Royal Love in the palace is one of my favorite shows (not wuxia but historical).

I couldn't even watch till episode 3 or 4...so I relate with this rant a lot
I agree with you 💯! He is very famous because of his beauty
His acting skills still need some work
power of BL hit
A lot of work
Yeah, Yangmi's make-up makes her looks like Gongjun's auntie fr real, and her stoned expression really make it worse...
Brilliant rant. I see you couldn't even bear to give it a score.
Wang yixu cannot copy and paste because it’s the interest in Wang Hedi’s DFQC that boost the views!! He has the most important acting skills as an actor to play a character that people never get tired of and never forget.
