    As usual, it’s fun to hear from you and see what’s new in your supplies and journal lineup.
    I appreciate your saying you might just retire the one notebook if you’re not done with it by the end of the year. I struggle with “not finishing” certain notebooks and I think it’s ok to just realize it’s time to move on sometimes. 🙂

    Your work is so GORGEOUS, Sarah! And that prayer book is perfection! I like snap closures, too. I've harvested magnetic ones off of purses along with using regular snaps. And YUP, fountain pens can be a bit messy!

    The leaky nibs: I wonder if you flush or soak your nibs with a nib cleaning solution, that this might improve things? Also, are they vintage pens? The older fountain pens seem to dry up quicker. Modern fountain pens for example can last up to a year which is insane compared to older ones without ink drying and nibs clogging. My last modern leaky pen was a result of the housing of the nib cracking, and dried ink clogging the nib unit when I accidentally left small remnants of ink too long. My personal experience with intense fountain pen use is to stick to modern new ones which are piston fillers. They contain a lot more ink. But some like to keep changing inks and the big piston pens have inks that last too long for them. I can highly recommend TWSBI 580 Diamond series and Opus 88 pens. So lovely to see your setups, especially inspirational is that you made your own leather accessories. Some day, I would love to learn how to do that 😁 Thanks for sharing!

    • @sarahmartinezjournals
      @sarahmartinezjournals  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for the tips!! Yes, I absolutely need to do a thorough cleaning of both pens. They’re vintage which makes cleaning them such a chore. They don’t come apart like modern ones and I’m not supposed to use traditional cleaning solutions on them😩. That’s why I stopped buying vintage, haha.
      You should totally play with leather! I don’t even enjoy it (I’m just driven to do it so I can have my dream products) but I found it pretty straight forward to hone basic leather crafting skills with just a few attempts with TH-cam tutorials.

    What a gorgeous setup! The bag is awesome and your lineup is magical. I love it when things come together just right.
    Good luck with your fountain pens. If you’re finding that now is not the season in life for fountain pens, you might research rollerball pens that can be used with fountain pen ink. I prefer to refill cartridges to use. You can pop one out and a new one in right away. There are mixed reviews out there for different brands, but I think it’s a decent alternative. I don’t have any specific recommendations because I use the rollerball section I got from SchonDSGN with an aluminum body Pocket 6 pen. I am unsure what brand he sells.
    Thank you so much for sharing! 🧡🖋📚

    • @sarahmartinezjournals
      @sarahmartinezjournals  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have been drooling over rollerballs for ages! Just like you said, I’ve seen the mixed reviews and am nervous to pull the trigger on one. Especially because I’m wanting a finer nib and I keep seeing 0.7 or medium type nibs. The cheaper Kakimori rollerballs I have are so thick! Even my 0.5 has an incredibly thick line with all my inks. Decisions, decisions 🙃

    I always get excited to see what you are up to Sarah! I sure hope you are doing well as the past year has been so hard on you and your family. I think of you often and pray for you and your family’s healing.
    I’m keeping it simple this year and going to try a Sneaker Weeks Mega for my planner. I am a university professor and have lots of projects but I’m finding lots of my work needs to be in digital tools so I think I can make some he Weeks work. I primarily need to keep track of my tasks for the week and plan when to start projects. I’ve tried to do this online but I forgot to regularly check it plus having a place to physically note things helps keep me focused. I got the mega to do what you are going in your A6 but in the note pages.
    Anyways, I am fairly settled and did the same thing as you with the Take a Note. I had it ordered and canceled it. I’m drooling over the Midori Hibino right now but not sure I want something that chunky as it’s about the same size as my A6 Hobonichi 5 year journal. This is the only thing that I seem to have a week spot for as I’ve been able to resist most of the shiny new objects this planner release season.

    • @sarahmartinezjournals
      @sarahmartinezjournals  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much for your prayers, Karen♥️♥️. This is the second year I’ve ordered then canceled the Take A Note😆. Hopefully next year I just skip ordering altogether, haha. Isn’t that Hibino so tempting?? It seems impossible to get though. I switched up my purchases to make room for a Hibino but if I can’t get one I’ll just go back to my original plan. I hope you enjoy your sneaker weeks!

      @@sarahmartinezjournals I’m on an email list with JetPens as their website says October and on the reorder with Yoseka. I just wish it was in like an Avec version then I would be all over that.

    • @sarahmartinezjournals
      @sarahmartinezjournals  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I got the Yoseka restock email and saw it 2 hours later and it was all sold out again. I don’t have much confidence in seeing the Jetpens email before they sell out there😬. Midori won’t be making anymore Hibinos because of production issues so Jetpens is kinda the last chance!

    I love the pen boards you made!
    Honestly I keep going back and forth with what I want to do for next year. I was going to do a Hobo sneaker Weeks again but I've been having a pull to go back to a standard size. I'm not a die hard TRC leather cover person until I found someone selling an original "Midori" stamped Brown cover that is brand new with insert and box. The leather is so different from any other TRC covers I had in the past. I love it, so I was thinking about going that route but I'm having a hard time figuring out a pen clip/holder. I considered ordering one of the BK x TSL but everyone is out of both the magnet and clip ones. BK does have the "Cardovan" leather one in burgundy but I'm not paying an extra $20 because of it being supposedly superior leather.
    I feel like every time I think I get a system working for me all the small things add up till I throw my hands in the air.

    • @sarahmartinezjournals
      @sarahmartinezjournals  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh I wish I could hold your Midori! And why is something like a pen holder so hard to figure out, right?? I totally get it. I always try to find an easier way and almost never find what I’m looking for. So I end up having to create something myself. I can’t remember exactly, but I think JoyfulPawPrints on Etsy made some pen boards like mine so you could message her if that’s something you’re looking for.

    😏Field Pouch from Peak Design Commercial? They know us too too well🤣
    Anyway, so happy for an Update! There's soo much in here. I live your Tote, wish it came double sized 😅
    It did leave me confused as to what your 2023 was going to be... Kinda like what happened to me this year strangely. As I usually have my Systems down, but maybe that pent up Wanderlust has some of us really heading into the Season harder than our usual? I have been having such a difficult time getting comfortable with the right cover which makes a Calendar function optimally. It ballooned and is All over the place now as Hobonichi finally released my Shipment (I got the One Piece for my Boys) so that was delayed a Month for everything as well. Lesson learned to not merge next years Order...
    I am really finding myself gravitationally being pulled to a TN, but love the TRP and since this is their "last year" (I believe they had a second transition from the actual Real TRP because my Fountain Pens react differently to old old New Notebooks than the more recent to newest ones)...will stick with that until it's over for Journaling. But! Utilizing my TN for Marital Journaling which I love as that's the system I had when we were dating 💕
    Not getting an A5 as it's just too much for all of it to be in one place...the color coding and everything in one was overwhelming
    I fell in love with B6 Slim THAT would be great if it's availability through Companies was better
    So I've relegated my Personal Journaling to A5 like what Trina Gorman has done in her Roterfadens. Good size for Brain dumping
    Weeks for Health and Baby milestones
    Really it's the Daily that's bugging me most as That's the real workhorse...
    I like B6 but there aren't a whole lot of Covers that draw me so do I use an A5 zip with Pens above to fill the space and then have a Huge A5 in my Purse?😬 Or B6 with a Canvet Pouch with all the do-dads... Like all busy Mom's I'm trying to streamline..
    Which before I forget, I LOVE YOUR PRAYER BOOK. The Cross you made is fantastic was that done with a Cricut?
    Also, for Patches there are some lovely Religious ones on Etsy depending on which Rite you are in...
    Thank you for the insights! Your Videos have been helping me get through my 2023 plans🤗

      @sarahmartinezjournals  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh I can’t wait to see the One Piece in upcoming videos once everyone gets their orders. I know what you mean about planner confusion! There are some books I don’t want to give up (like the Fleurir Lab) and depending on what I end up buying, I’ll have to change up some of my journaling. So we’ll see! Good luck with your lineup!
      Thank you for the patch recommendations! I cut the cross out of the leather by hand with my xacto knife-it was a pain! But worth it in the end 😅
