    Thank you so much! Almost every video you teach me something new or solve a problem for me! I also did not want to use a separate notebook for memory keeping and now you have solved that problem with your system in the back of your weeks! Love your videos and always look forward to a new one.

    Can I just say how much I appreciate you working through your current stash? I think another way that you can get around to a no spend is by exchanging goodies with fellow planner and journaling enthusiasts. I'm always looking to do that because 1. I never know what I'm going to get and 2. I love sharing goodies with others that enjoy the hobby as much as I do. I just wanted to share that with you 🤎

    I enjoy the videos even if it’s subtle changes. In our crazy world, nice journal/planning videos are wonderful to view. Thank you!

    I always enjoy your vids BECAUSE it's not about "buy, buy, buy." It's real. Like most of us, your adventures in your hobby(ies) are about your creativity and problem solving with what you already have and the journey in figuring it out. That's not typical on TH-cam and that's a bummer. You are very resourceful and that's what I always tune in for. You're curious and always trying new things to keep yourself interested and invested in your processes.
    You aren't doing what everyone else is BECAUSE everyone else is, then doing it for a week and calling it "your thing." That reeks of disingenuousness for content that has resulted in my disillusionment with the overall planner/ journal community. I'm here for the journey, the discovery, and the great conversation!

    Looks amazing! I’ve always had more fun putzing in my planner than writing in my journal. I’m combining them and just noting the days best moment. ❤️

    I love catching up with you Sarah! Your minor tweaks are interesting, inspiring, and also solve some problems. I’m always happy to hear what is working for you. I love your new journal cover. You picked a stunning piece. And your Weeks use as a personalized vertical weekly for memory keeping is a great addition to capture the magic you felt from your previous year’s iteration. Your fountain pen collection is awesome. I still haven’t gotten my hands on a vintage flex nib. I have shopped for one and always end up skipping the purchase because I’ve never used one before and I want to try it out first. Thank you so much for sharing! 🤘🏼😸🧡🖋

    RE Inks for Vintage pens for the curious:
    There is a lot of debate on what's right/ wrong for vintage pens. At the end of the day, it's fully your call because it's your piece. There is plenty to sift through, but I've found that a lot of our "pen lore" is based on bias and limited belief systems. Short of "curdling your ink" in the pen or staining your pen, the world is your oyster within the ink market. This is what I've found in my own research for my own beloved vintage pens...
    If this eases your mind, Noodler's inks are actually made for use in vintage pens. Nathan Tardif, the maker, has said so as he himself is a big vintage pen collector. Methinks that most of the word on the street about how they aren't good for vintage pens is mostly rumors. The company itself has had some political-based controversy in the past so I believe many of the opinions are purely based on bias. I'd never experienced issues myself and I've been using their inks since around 2012. I was totally confused so I did some research. I quickly realized that people discount Noodler's inks due to their political views, not the safety of the ink. That said, I'm a BIG Noodler's fan and I mostly use them in my vintage pens. Walnut is one of my faves too!
    What I def WOULDN'T USE in vintage pens are those notorious ones (Baystate blue) or ones that include that extra lubrication like the Noodler's "eel" series, or Monteverde inks due to the ITC additive. Anything that has lubricating properties to assist with flow might be harder to fully clean out of a rubber sac. Unless you want to devote that ink specifically to that pen one risks "mixing" colors or formulations that are known to be problematic if mixed. Baystate Blue, will stain your pens and it doesn't wash out easily. Lubricated inks will make regular inks go "off" almost instantly when mixed creating a big headache when that happens in your pen. I mix ink for color variety and have seen this happen with these particular formulas. I'd suggest not using any of these inks in pens that you can't fully dismantle to thoroughly clean the pen in between inkings. I'd even add Platinum inks due to their need to really get in there and clean thoroughly, frequently.
    Asian inks have mixed reviews about being destructive to rubber sacs. Personally, I don't use Sailor inks, pilot iroshizuku, etc in my vintage pens because I can help it. Japanese inks are typically alkaline. Some think it's bad due to their Ph. Others say that that's no longer an issue if your sacs have been restored as the new sacs are said to be virtually indestructible. I'm not messing with that unless I know how to service the sac myself.
    Hopefully this may have cleared up any questions/ concerns for ya'll out there reading this.

    I enjoyed this! I was glad to see you till have your vintage pens. It made me want to pull out my Dad's old Eversharp-Wahl to find out whether it can flex. Probably not, or I'd remember that.

      @@sarahmartinezjournals Yes, I feel lucky. It's missing the clip and at the moment it's dry, but is fully functional as long as you don't want to clip it to a pocket! He was naturally left-handed but was made to write right-handed and always seemed to have such a heavy hand that I wonder how he managed to deal with it. Unfortunately, I didn't get into fountain pens in time to ask him.

    That was a fun video. I also like a vertical for memory keeping, but not for planning. And I’m that way with Lamy’s, they hate me and won’t write for nuthin. I love TWSBIs and got one from Robin! Beautiful vintage fountain pens! Noodlers ink behaves fine for me (or referring to the politics?) As always, I love your hand lettering. Hope you’re feeling and doing great!

      @sarahmartinezjournals  ปีที่แล้ว

      Aw, I’m sorry to hear that about your Lamy’s. As far as Noodler’s, I just figured it wasn’t deemed safe for vintage fountain pens, but I haven’t had any issues! Thanks so much for watching😊

    Love the video! Doesn't matter what you film, just like to hear your thoughts on whatever you feel like sharing! I just bought a purple twsbi mini (I said I would buy one if it ever came out in purple 🤦🏻‍♀️) and so of course I had to get a commemorative coronation ink too haha. Have you tried Fountain Pen Revolution? They offer an ultra fine ultra flex nib for a reasonable price, and it's the closest I have to a vintage pen. And, the ink thing, ugh I don't know why people take time to write anything negative - surely they have better things to do? But for me, I saved up for my pens and inks, so I will use them how I like, end of 😂 You do you, haters can go away!

    It honestly sounds like you'd prefer gold nibbed pens. Most modern, affordable fountain pens come with steel nibs, which is why they are so ridged and inflexible. Also, if you prefer Sailor ink (I do!), it could explain why it "runs dry" or skips in pens. Sailor ink seems to work the best in Sailor pens unless you use an additive. I have a couple of entry-level gold nib Sailors, and they have the qualities you seem to prefer. I wouldn't buy it unless you can try it, though. Q_Q Too bad places like Yoseka Stationery are hard to come by.

    • @sarahmartinezjournals
      @sarahmartinezjournals  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve thought of gold nibbed pens! Especially Sailors. But I just really want to try one first before forking over that kind of money, like you said.
