I wish Cisse had stayed injury free for us a couple more seasons. His speed and accuracy in front of goal troubled many defenders. Also, our attacking options were quite varied. We had height in Crouch. Cisse gave us speed. Garcia, Fowler, and Kewell were deadly left-footed finishers. Morientes was an experienced head. Gerrard & Alonso provided goals from the midfield. Riise and Hyppia gave us goals from the defence. Brilliant. YNWA!
Things I remember from this season, - wanting Morientes to aclimatise to English football and be the striker we knew he was - Crouch taking ages to get his first goal while still becoming a fan favourite and being on fire once he got one - Gerrard being probably the best player on the planet
Started the season slowly had couple injuries but ended it with nine straight wins also a FA Cup which Gerrard pretty much won by himself with help of Reina. Very good season a trophy and third place
This was generally an excellent season ... As Liverpool followed up their CL win with more excellent football. We won the European Super Cup and eventually the FA Cup, but it could have been SO much better .... We had a TERRIBLE start to the league season, winning only ONE of our first SIX fixtures, but after that our form was really good, and ultimately we finished 3rd just 8 points behind United. If our start had been better we COULD have won the league that year ... As European Champions we SHOULD have been more ambitious in the transfer market before this season started ... but that was classic Rafa ... never doing what was obvious.
Or because we dont have the financial support of a state like city or a billionaire like chelsea even today we cant spend those ridiculous amounts of money without selling, i would love us to sign ronaldinho in 2005 or kaka and win that league but our budget for that season was like 20m and we had hollows all over our team

The real turning point for them was Kobe Bryant signing for Adidas instead of either Nike or Reebok, the two biggest sports franchises at the time. Eventually Adidas bought Reebok and have virtually faded away.
Imagine if Fowler and Owen had pressed and tackled like our current front players. We would have won the league for sure. Just needed a Klopp to get their mindset right. Rush was the original striker and first line of defence. Humble. The spice boys lacked that humility. Cocky bunch walking around like legends without earning it. True LFC legends win league or Champions League. Nothing else counts.
In that season LFC was very consistent at two periods. Pity that the lack of a prolific goalscorer who could score 20 goals in a season cost the title. Of course fluctuation was inseparable from Rata Benitez's team.
I never felt so happy that season than when Crouchie scored from that ridiculous deflection. The media had been on his back for half a season and it was clear his goal drought was weighing on him.
I remember I celebrated Crouch's first two goals vs Wigan Athletic like a madman, because: 1. Crouch was struggling 2. Wigan were on-fire, they managed to sneak 2nd place in the league table behind Chelsea for some times NB: I also celebrated a home win vs Newcastle so hard because I was angry and disappointed after Sao Paulo games. The ref of Club World Cup final was dreadful as hell

Steven Gerrard was just a freak footballer. Won PFA player of the season this season playing on the right in a 4-4-2 mainly. Scored over twenty goals.
Cisse was just fantastic! to come back from two broken legs and still play at this level. Class act and shows his bravery.
