    Got my programmable bass driver DI over 15 years now and still love it. I boost it with different dirt pedals and use it as my always on drive. It is so dynamic and I just like it a lot.

    This is one of the best demos I’ve ever seen! So well put together! Man, you must have spent many hours on this. You are so very appreciated! I think the v2 has the best features, although the programmable one sounded best to my ears. It looks as though they stopped making that exact one though.

      Thank you very much 🙏 . I found the Deluxe to be really special. After the test, I bought it ! The V2 in full live band context is probably my favorite.

      Yeah, they still do the BD programmable. Never tried it but I am guessing it sounds like the deluxe. I will do a video if I find one.

      It seems the only difference between the "normal" and deluxe version is the additional routing capabilities. After this demo I'm about to pull the trigger on it. It sounds way better than the others in almost every situation to my ears, and the possibility to have a programmed clean, crunch and high gain channels can be crucial in a live situation.

    I love that mid knob on the Para. When you set it to the right it adds so much to the definition of the sound (complementing the treble control so well) that it doesn’t feel like the BDDI is able to quite achieve. Not to mention it’s also versatile enough to use on acoustic and electric, just an added bonus for me as I don’t have a preamp for any of those yet. Looking to start plugging straight into the PA with this.

  • @4headgaming448
    @4headgaming448 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Maybe I missed it, it but why wasn't the speaker emulation used on the VT bass DI, especially with the higher gain demos? That's a really important option in comparing it to any of the BDDI models, since they have a sort of speaker emulation baked in. The drive on the VT, like almost any distortion, just sounds awful without some kind of speaker emulation or IR after it.

    • @BassStuff
      @BassStuff  ปีที่แล้ว

      If I remember correctly, I felt like the speaker emulation was too extreme and made it sound too far from the other pedals. Also, I am not a huge fan of this particular speaker emulation so maybe I was not thinking about it as a useable feature to show.

  • @scottfeldstein7264
    @scottfeldstein7264 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think something is often missed in reviews/demos of the Geddy Lee signature stuff. There is NO clean blend. If you take the Mix knob down to zero it's not your clean signal that you're getting. It's a bass boosted low end retainer that is meant to be blended with the Drive side. Showing people "mix 100%" is by no means demonstrating the effect in full force. Quite the opposite. It's showing 50% at best. The other pedals DO have a clean blend. When you turn it all the way down, you get nothing from the pedal and it sounds the same as if bypassed.

    • @BassStuff
      @BassStuff  ปีที่แล้ว

      The blend mode on this version of the YYZ is a blend between the drive section and a filtered clean signal. It's like the low part of a bi amp setup. The fuller 2112 version is built to route the signal independently.
      Tech21 describes it as " Blends the ratio of high-end studio clean (Deep) and dirty bass tube amp tones (Drive). The Deep side offers thick, meaty tones, with a preset EQ curve custom tailored to Geddy’s personal specs. "
      The drive section of this pedal is still a fully voiced sansamp drive section without any crossover. You can blend it or not with the clean section. There's a huge low cut with the tight switch to have more of the bi amp vibe.
      I am not sure what you mean by "full force" but when you have the blend at 100% it's just the drive section like any other classic sansamp. The only difference is that the clean blend is pre voiced and not affected by the EQ of the pedal.

    • @scottfeldstein7264
      @scottfeldstein7264 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BassStuff Yes, what I mean is with the blend dimed you're usually getting the full effect of the pedal. In this case you're not because you're missing out on the Deep side, which is also part of the effect and not a bypass like some other pedals. It may be clean as in undistorted, but as you say it is filtered, shaped, pre-voiced.
