I'm a big fan of the Green Label Arnage, despite what some snotty owners of so called "properly Bentleys" will say. The sole reason that the venerable (old and heavy) 6.75 engine was re-used, was because VAG's had brought Bentley and using a BMW engine wasn't an option. I think the reason that you feel the car isn't as special as a Rolls is due to the absence of the "Flying B" mascot. The view along the bonnet just isn't the same. Anyway its great to see someone young share a passion for these wonderful cars, enjoy yours.

I have just bought a 2010 Arnage Final series (oh yes they did) from Hanwells 24,000 - full service at Jack Barclay. Bought it undriven in under 5 minutes. Colour crystal so black on black on black. It just looked the business and when Hanwells told me it was NOT metallic I called Jack Barclay and a charming salesman said "bollocks" of course it is and it was a colour that was launched in 2010. Even more excitement. (by the way he didn't really say "Bollocks" he said look at it in the sun and see the gorgeous flecks of ruby glint in the depth of colour. The very last of the series. Remember here we are in a Jubilee weekend so you cant get hold of anyone. I drive my cars for many years so my CL500 is the same age and my E220 coupe is 1996. My partner no longer drives so can I justify 3 cars? My partner knows as much about cars as I do about genetic engineering but even he looked at it and said ........ I think you should buy it. Ive never seen anything so lovely. So Cormac as I hardly ever play music in the car you get to chose what I play on the first drive (which will be on Friday 10th June). It is a NAIM extra but then everything is extra! Glad you're so excited at your age and even at 79 the Arnage can still excite. By the way they only made about 90 despite saying they made 150. I think they ran out of umbrellas.
Aww congratulations, I’m sure you will enjoy the arnage final series. However I found that my arnage wasn’t as special as my Rolls Royce. I would love to see the car sometime. As a Radio presenter I will definitely choose a good song for you to listen to when you drive the car. I would like too get another Rolls-Royce
I'm considering my next purchase. You mentioned the Flying Spur, Cormac, which is my current drive. The Flying Spur is a different beast altogether, W12 power plant and 552bhp but without the "analogue" looking charm of the Arnage. It's fantastic and I love but I'm either going Mulsanne or going back to the old days with a Bentley S3 or a Vintage/Classic Rolls of some description. Enjoy your motoring, Sir. I completley get the addiction. :-)
I love the Continental flying spur, I would like to drive one again as I would be interested in buying one, however I really want to get a Rolls-Royce phantom as it’s my favourite car and will get that first. I didn’t really like my arnage and just didn’t feel as special as my Rolls-Royce

Hi, Thanks for your comment. No I wouldn't fix it myself! I used a main Bentley dealer or a Rolls-Royce and Bentley specialist, I used Introcar to get spares and parts for my Arnage.
I have owned 2 Arnage. My first was a 6.75 'Red Label' and it blew its head gasket. It also had the gearbox fail and had to have all its water pumps replaced. Almost bankrupt me. I sold it. 2 years (and much research) later I bought a 4.4 'Green Label' Arnage. It never missed a beat. Only sold it to buy a modern Rolls Royce Ghost which is utterly sublime. Your 4.4 Arnage has a manufacturers plate inside the passenger door which states "Built by Rolls Royce Motors, Crewe, England".
Even though I sincerely love my 99 Arnage, the car is not a "real" Bentley as it has a lot of BMW parts such as the motor and climate control system. The control panel on the dash is purely a 7 series module, but has the wooden panel! I had to replace my heater control valve in the engine compartment. Bentley wanted $2800 for the valve. I used the exact same module from BMW for $650.00! The last "real" Bentley/Rolls Royce would be a 1998 here in the US or 1997 in the UK.

The 6.75 engine first used in 1959 was outdated, that's why the BMW engines were sourced. As VAG had become the new owners of Bentley continuing to use the BMW engine was no longer an option. Where the parts are from is not important, it's how the overall package makes you feel. I just wish the Arnage had a bonnet mascot !

I do live in London, however when I bought the car I was going down to Leicestershire for the weekend. How does this not add up, you have insurance, fuel, tax, and running costs. What rolls Royce and Bentley do you have?

I agree. The Arnage was designed for the BMW engine not the heavy old engine.

Yeah this shares a lot of parts with bmw this engine was also used in the Range Rover, It just doesn’t feel as special as a Rolls-Royce.
