It's really frustrating as a T1 fan knowing that this quote wouldn't exist if they just banned Aatrox, it's bittersweet honestly, because I know Deft worked hard for the win but got carried so hard by Zeka and Kingen. You can steal as many barons you want from them. You can have your inhibitor respawn when your Nexus is being burned to nearly 0 hp by them. You can be up 2-1 or 2-0 against them. It won't matter. Even after 9 years of trying and failure, Deft never broke. Even after half a dozen steals, Pyosik kept trying. Even after a heartbreaking loss at last year's finals, Beryl pushed forward. Even when facing the juggernauts of EDG, GEN and T1, Kingen and Zeka held their ground and proved themselves. DRX's mental fortitude was as unbreakable as the core of a neutron star. Well played, absolute banger of a series.

You wont get a better underdog story than this unless NA somehow wins worlds which isn't going to happen anytime soon. The mental mindset of DRX is definitely out of this world. I'm guessing just like the castors, analysts have all said, they are letting the pressure go and just playing for fun and it's working to keep their mental strong.

Props for Zeka and Kingen for stepping up, both completely outperform the opposing solo laners. Pyosik honestly played decent, but he does have to work on his smites xd. Imagine the amount of pressure DRX would have gone through mentally to get their Barons stolen. Even though the team remained calm, I still was at the edge of my seat thinking if they will lose the final elder dragon because T1's GUMAYUSI was an absolute beast in stealing these objectives but DEFT had laid out the traps and they zoned as much as possible. It was truly one of the most intense game as it could have gone either side. GG to both the teams. Honestly, DRX Absolutely Deserved It

Tbh DRX was quite bad on maintaining mentality after something goes wrong. Take game 1 for example, things were going quite even but as soon as they lost 1 dragon to T1, their whole mental went kaboom and they ran it down giving T1 a easy win. It literally fell apart after 1 dragon was lost. Same thing in this game 5, after an objective is stolen, DRX loses mental and gives up kills for no reason, gets caught all over the map. DRX largely won in draft. T1 had little to no CC and engage.

It is sad that all of them can't play as a team anymore, eventhough they agreed the low amount of payment, it is still not enough, thus all of them seperate.
The brightest star truly doesn't lasts long.

@Jon Guiriba i think this is mostly a cultural thing. Like I am assuming you are a westerner(much like myself) so we think about big championship titles and like "ehh they did well now they can spend their money on the off season" but like its just not like that in the East these guys constantly (aside from beryl cause lol) put in 10-14 hours especially the young guys from scrims to solo q and the like and most of them have been doing that for the last almost year(remember LCK starts in January with a 1-2 month break depending on playoffs). We are talking thousands of hours when all you really give a damn about is the title because money is kinda meh at this point. But to caveat hes on the most decorated teams we have in all of League(pretty much by a mile) so I am sure expectations were high as hell.

You qualify as 4th seed, you defeat RNG, you reverse sweep an ex world champion, then take out the number one seed, and lose 3 barons in a row but Still you force the greatest team of a competitive scene to kneel in front of you, well that is not luck cause luck can only take you as far as it can, that is a mixture of skill, mentality and destiny, and frankly it had to be this way, to make it the most memorable victory that will ever take place on a worlds stage.

I'm a T1 fan. If there was ever a team to lose to, this version of DRX is it. So damn impressive how they fought for this win. Ice cold mentals, turning small opportunities into massive spiraling victories. I honestly can't believe how hard Kingen and Zeka snowballed their lanes, but it's really their teamwork that decided these matches. A legendary best of 5, where I had no clue who would win it. DRX is just slightly better than T1 right now. That might very well change as the meta shifts.

Let's check out this insane accomplishment.
-Beat out LEC #1 seed Rogue and Top Esports in Groups
-Took out 2021 defending champs, EDG
-Took out HEAVY tournament favorites Gen G
-Took out the GOAT and his squad of mechanical prodigies
just unbelievable, this stuff only happens in movies. Absolutely tragic for T1.

So yeah based on names they did great but based on form from their oponents it wasnt all that impresive, still great that they did it, they where one of my favorite teams coming out of groups. Also the win oer SKT was 100% legit.

Honestly. What a series! Personally a T1 fan, but here DRX clearly deserves the win. They've had the edge pretty much in all game but the first. They would have won in 4 if it wasn't for the double Baron steal of game 3, but even then, they still had the wind in their sail. T1 gave too much priority in the picks to bot and kinda seemed to forget all other lanes. I get the karma pick for the line prio, and it worked, but he should ve picked Cait for sure... Also, well, mid and top gap was too big for DRX. Faker failed to deliver, he got constantly caught in all games (I know he's being focused) but he often got picked out of position, which leaded to his flash being constantly down. He tried to make too many offensive flashy plays which unfortunately didn't get much success, but with azir. They should've prioed that pick for him. But zekka played flawlessly, so we have to give him that. And top lane, Zeus losing lane, getting picked last game, even his counterpick to aatrox with Fiora got shit on game 4. He only had a good game with Yone tbh. Aatrox should clearly have been banned last game, as all previous games with aatrox, Zeus failed to match and contain him. Also T1 forced way too many dragons and towers when they didn't need to, just because it was on their agenda, and that back fired quite often. Very good series for the rest of T1, and for DRX, well we can probably say that deft was carried, but that was his role in this series, since there's been so much focus in the picks by T1 bot. So yeah, T1 got out drafted, out played and out macroed... Even with 3 Baron steals they managed to lose the series, not the speak of the dragon steals as well. I also felt like the casters were overwhelmed by the stake of the series, and forgot to actually analyze the games. With all said and done, AWESOME series and run through World's, they much deserve the title.

Your comment should have the most thumbs up. I literally don't have anything to say and still thinking of words for my comment and agree to everything you said. However, Deft actually did well game 5 but was just overshadowed by the obvious top laner that crushed game 4 and 5, but the cait game was lowkey good. He did underperform all other games prior tho, but that is to be expected at this point. I'm happy DRX won, I'm gonna root for SKT next year because you won't really get a much better underdog story than this, last place team, play ins, 10 year history, same high school as faker, and the to beat the GOAT team and GOAT player as underdogs? Makes the story even better and it would be hard to top this. You had it all, baron steals, highlights from every player, comebacks, heartbreak and it just goes on and on.

Even though pyosik did badly for smites his set ups for picks with hecarim is something to behold EVEN though he got railed in the first couple of minutes because hecarim is a weak early game champ he still made some insane set ups. This is just to add coz I agree with your comment

    • @Max_Griswald

Faker had a couple of good games, unfortunately just not when he wasn't playing Azir. As soon as I saw the Viktor lock-in in G5, I sighed and realized that DRX would win the championship. His Viktor hasn't looked good at all.
Zeus, however, was getting outplayed in basically every game. His Yone game was pretty good, though.
I think that T1 had worse drafting, overall, than DRX did. I think that Zeus underperformed. I think that Faker underperformed every game he wasn't on Azir. The T1 botlane played very well, even when you don't factor in the multiple objective steals from them. I think that Oner played better than Pyosik, but I also think that he left a lot to be desired even with HIS objective steals.
