I bought my first shotgun in 2007 after I got out of the Army. It was a 20" Remington 870 Police Magnum, you can't even get those new anymore, they were built like a Wingmaster, never should have sold it. Later in 2012 I bought another 870 and all I could get was an 18" 870 Tactical with black plastic instead of the nice wood furnature, it did have a Pic rail on top, a threaded door breacher and a full length mag tube and it may have had a heat shield on it factory too. It was $100 cheaper than the Police Mag, came with more features but, the action wasn't nearly as smooth, I had to run it with polishing compound in the action, just cycling the bolt for hours, then I tore it down, cleaned it and lubed it back up and that helped. Anymore I might just get a .400 Legend upper for my AR once a 20+rd mag and more projectiles are available. Saw tests with hand loads from a 16" barrel AR that beat 2.75" 300gr Hornady SST slugs from a 24" barrel with over 2800ft/lbs of energy vs 2650 from the slug. It was a 165gr Maximus solid handload. As long as the rifle was reliable, there isn't much else I would want for under 300yrds. Had more energy than 6.8x51 loadings, 6.5 Creed, .308, with a compact AR15 action and mag size. Something like an old Maverick 88 you stash somewhere with a parts kit, printed G19 and AR15 is a nice thing to have.
A lil stash or cache is always a great idea! Thanks for watching!
Very nice gun
The 12 or 20 gauge Shockwave are awesome truck guns.. I would prefer the 20 over the 12.
Definitely a lil more manageable for sure!
The 12 gauge with the defender tactical mini shell adapter is the way
The mossberg 590A1 is the best bang for the buck in the firearms world. The benelli m4 is expensive but the best that can be had. Go ahead and do the 92r stuff and max it out. I love em both. Good vid
Much appreciated
Well said. If you just want 1 gun it should definitely be a 12/20 gauge. Ammo is expensive but you can still get a box of something for less than 10 bucks.
Very versatile indeed
Oddly I have all those. Good choices.
@@mrbee145 well duhhh
Pretty kwel! I love mossberg 590/500. But also love my dbl barrel coach blaster
I still gotta grab me a coach gun, and a fancy over under...bout all I'm missing in the shotgun department!
@@TerriblyTactical you’ll love it.
@@TerriblyTactical hk released it new micro 9 tonight!
We got gay one I think but we will buy it
@@jackbauer9077 we did...and we will lolol
What are your thoughts on the Benelli Nova pump shotguns?
I've got one, it's a great gun.
It'll chamber up to 3" shells without problems.
I would recommend adding a magazine tube.
Great gun.
I have seen that pistol braces are put for those 590 Shockwaves, that got me excited, might be a job for the mag fed version if it worked perfectly like a tube.
Yeah but those mags are huge and heavy
Load reaches full velocity at around 10inches in barrel... so other than capacity for tube feed and sight radius - no disadvantage to those shortys
Indeed
Everyone should own a shotgun. They're still the most versatile firearm on the planet and if need be, you can make anything scatter from that gat!!
Amen to that!
In my opinion, from about 75 yards and in, the shotgun is king, and the most versatile 'weapons system platform'....
Indubitably good sir
Scatter gats. Nice.
@@samfisher9413 love em!
Like the long format.
Appreciate it
I like your videos brother and nice shotguns !!
I would just add a light 💡
Most definitely
What makes shotguns great...Even if you are in a pinch and only have some birdshot, you can do cut shells on the spot or if you plan ahead, you can make some waxers, maybe even throw some lead sinkers or something in there with the birdshot, even just waxed birdshot is mean, basically a Glaser Safety Slug just on a much bigger scale than those 9mm on Manhunter. I still want to get a left hand eject shotgun and make an upsidedown shotgun, maybe even a super long bullpup with like a 10+ shot tube, standard or bullpup it would be great because you could top it up easily with the load gate on top. I always wanted an old Ithaca 37 or Winchester that does slam fire too, once tou get that down you can dump 5-7 shells nearly as quick as a guy can do with a semi auto unless it's a very high dollar one like a Benelli or Baretta.
That would be super cool to see! Thanks for watching man!
Excellent video as always my man! Do you find the shockwave format relatively easy to hit your target with compared to other pumps or options? I keep looking at them, have seen other reviews, but nobody answers the question of comparative use other than the obvious. (Points of contact, no cheek weld....duh!)
I'm not new to shotguns at all. They've been a go to HD firearm for me for 20+ years. The ol' fudds at the fun shops give me the 🤷🏻♂️, and the reviewers just tell me to buy one. 😂
Are they worth the extra time, effort, and money to consider viable, or just a cool toy to take to the range?
If practiced with and used for the right purpose, the Shockwave is incredibly handy and is very shootable with proper technique. Not ideal for all situations, but if you need something more concealment oriented or something a little handier in tight quarters, it's great for that. I very much so enjoy having one. Thanks for watching man, hope that helps.
For home defense Winchester 1300 Defender, PCC up to 50 yards, and anything beyond that an AR-15. Shotgunners are a special breed, not everyone is able to handle the recoil.
With proper training and the right gun, most people are capable.
Agreed
Thanks for watching!
Sweet!!!
