Subscriptions are basically follows on twitch and other social media. Atop that it creates a collection of youtubers you actually like without getting videos you don't like in the subscriptions part. Its just useful

As someone who uses a phone for TH-cam sometimes, I find it useful to go to the subscriptions tab to see if TH-camrs I like have uploaded, and on a computer, it's useful as a button straight to some TH-cam channels.

The subscribe button is used for personalized notifications, livestreams, premieres, etc.
(I once got a livestream from a channel I subscribed to without the “all notifications” on the bell.)

I agree with a lot of the people in the comments. If you see a type of content you like, you subscribe, you get recommended more and more of that content and be one of the first people to see it rather than waiting for it to get popular. It’s like a water filter in a fish tank, basically, filtering out the bad stuff. Also, it’s fun just pressing it and knowing you’re supporting a good creator.

I usually look for videos in my subscription feed. I don't like getting a lot of notifications, so I don't always bring the bell.

Subscriptions are basically bookmarking the channel so you can find it easily

The subscribe button allows you to use the notification bell. So the subscribe button is also used for allowing you to get notified if you want it to.
I think it’s still useful because you can still get all the videos you subscribed for in your subscriptions tab.
I use subscribe so I can find channels I like later on. And I find subscribing will quickly have their videos appear more as apposed to watching many videos to trigger that.

That's why I don't tell my audience to subscribe (unless I'm goofing around or something)
You forgot that it still puts channels in your subscription feed just not the notification list
Although I’m actually super selective on my subscriptions so I won’t subscribe until at least a month of consistent enjoyment
Subscribing helps the algorithm know what videos to recommend, too.

Subscribe button is for when you like a TH-camr but not enough to get notified for every video they make. It makes them easier to find if you forgot their name. Just look through your subscription list until you find them. Plus it gives them an algorithm boost plus big red button nice.

So besides just helping the creators videos appear in other people pages, it actually makes the new ones (and even older ones) almost Guaranteed to appear in yours. So use it to keep track of a channel you like
