One thing I’ve learned to never do is to attach a microphone boom stand to the same desk or table where I am sitting. I always attach the boom arm to a bookshelf or other piece of furniture next to my table or desk. That prevents most of the bumps and thumps that can bleed into my recording. I have the Zoom ZDM-1 and its a must with this mic.

Thanks for the comment. That's a great point, and definitely a good idea if you have that option!

I would like to see a video on what the graph for a mic means.

Good info. Thanks for the comparison. How well do you think the ZD1 would do on a stand along with a shock mount?

Most people that buy the ZDM-1 seem to suffer a lot with handling noise even if they buy a boom arm and shock mount. Some people have to mount it from a shelf beside their desk and they're still not happy.
I haven't spent a TON of time trying to make it work, I just use other microphones.

Thank for sharing. You forgot to compare the prices - the Rode costs more than double than the Zoom.

I intentionally point people to the description for prices. I’ve been burnt so many times by manufacturers changing the price dramatically depending on time of year and location.
