so i watched this video before my 3 hour essay exam and i literally remembered nothing but it still went really well so i think that subconsciously i was using the methods in this video so thanks
Ms Peer Editor, thank you for your insightful videos on literary and poetic analysis! I have found them very rewarding and thoroughly enjoyable. At the present time, I am taking a teacher certification exam ELA writing, which involves writing an essay on a piece of literature or a poem. I have not studied this subject in over 40 years. Your videos along with other sources have helped me organize my thoughts and given me some strategies to approach the exam.
Do you have any tips on timed writing for writing stories rather then essays? I have a contest coming up an basically the premise is that the organizers will give us a page of information and based off of that we have to create an original story. Usually I can write decently fast but my concern is coming up with the idea/plot. Do you have any tips on how to come up with those really fast?
I would try to think of different storylines beforehand based on specific themes or emotions. For example, try to think of different situations related to betrayal, pride, or self-actualization. You can probably adapt these storylines according to whatever information you're given.
