they're probably bonded, I had a blue headed conure that was very similar when we were together, but I was home and she could not be on my shoulder or on a perch next to me, she would scream non-stop. They're really cool to have bonded to you though, super sweet, and affectionate. They just chill and make cute little noises when they're happy
You're a very smart and caring young man. Enjoyed your video. I've kept all types of birds for many years and have bred them. Everything you say is very true. Birds are not like dogs or cats. I feel so sorry for the birds who get so much love and attention and then are ignored when the novelty wears off.
Bill Borden I am a 15 year old girl and I was think about getting a pet bird to bond with. I will be keeping it in my room since that's where I am most of my time. What type of bird would you recommend for me. I do have friends I just like animals more than people and I don't go out much.
Angela_1881 first, hopefully get approval from the parental units. second, realize that everyday is a day spent loving, feeding and cleaning after your baby. my son wanted parakeets so bad, he was about 17, he is now 23 and lives away from home and.....yup, his parakeets are now my baby's. so....they'll or she or he will be with you long after your 15.... I recommend a budgie, as young as they have - so you can definitely pair-bond. it's very fulfilling to see them love you when you walk in the room or make noise in the other room. they're adorable. good luck on your decision.
My friend has a bird named Polly and I wanted him to like me sooooo badly, but it sucks Bc he hates pretty much everyone. One day my friend and I were on the phone and I asked if I could talk to Polly, so they put me on speaker phone. Polly and I had a good long conversation that mainly consisted of whistles and hellos! Eventually when I went over to my friend's house I started to talk to Polly the same way I do on the phone. Now he trusts me a great deal, and even asks me for snacks. :) ❤️ I feel pretty honored to be appreciated by a bird lol.
Birds: *need atenttion and lives really long* *will get stressed if left alone* *poops a lot, is messy with food* Me: *needs atenttion and lives really long* *will too get stressed if left alone* *poops a lot and is messy with food* Am I a bird??
My mom bought me a bird when I was six years old. She never supervised me when I was handling my budgie but what she did was showing me a book about them and explaining everything that was written in there. I called him bobo, he was my very first pet. After school the first thing I did was going to his cage and feeding him. It took me a while to get him tamed but then he flew at my shoulder and nibbled my ear so full of love. I let him play with my brass cup that I used for crumbs from sharpening pencils and I still remember how he pushed it all over my table and made me laugh. I still miss him even though it has been over 20 years. He flew away one day when my mom accidently left the window open :( Please remember that child behaviour depends on the parents. Kids are very carefull with pets if you tell them what will scare them and what they like. When I was older, I got another pet. The two neighbour boys loved my rabbit to death so my mom let them into the apartment whenever they asked to see my rabbit. We told them how the rabbit likes it and they did really good and carefull.
Leschwa89 Dude I was afraid when I was reading the end that it was going to say "so my mom let them in and one day when they were playing with it, it ran away".
the same thing happened with my mum and her budgie - she was going to her nan's, and as she was getting out of the car the door of the cage wasn't secure and the bird flew out ;-;
BigSky Family In my country the adoption place the birds are all very very sick and the shelters neglect them. They don’t tell you if they are sick and the birds die then
Sometimes adoption can be hard tho because the ones in shelters can have behavioural issues and things, and that can be hard for not only beginners, but even more experienced birb handlers
People laugh when I talk about how much my parakeet requires care and attention. They believe parakeets are like fishes, that they can't really interact with humans. But they're so wrong! My parakeet is my baby and I'm always with him when I'm home.
a lot of people think having a bird is all fun and games, some birds mate for life, when you get a bird, it chooses you as its partner, if you do not pay attention to your bird it will get sad and start to hurt itself, ie, start to pluck its feathers. birds are very high maintenance
Jackie Russell I have a 14 year old amazon and i completely agree, hes really hard work and hes extremely clingy... also bloody loud. Im stuck with him though, wouldn't be without him
Pkmnfan01 Actually i think that everyone who wants a bird, already knows that it's NOT a game. You really have to take care of them. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND to get 2 birds NOT 1 bird.
Pkmnfan01 OMG that's terrifying!!! And cool that they get so attached. I'm planning on getting a parrot, I'm not sure in which breed... something social and talkative.
We have a sun conure. She's 10. We bought her from people who were allowing their kids to poke at them with sticks or forks, so we said we need to get her out of there! She was hard to get to know us at first, but I sat in front of her cage with the door open and sang to her and within 2 weeks, she became mine exclusively. She will go to other people, but she only really is most comfortable with me.She has a small vocabulary...maybe 4 or 5 words. She is very jealous of other pets in the house, but tolerates them. She is definitely a mama's girl. Her name is Paca. They told us she was a boy when we got her, but we later found out she was a girl. I usually just call her "Mama". I have fallen madly in love with her and she is definitely my favorite pet in the house, although I love all of them, she and I have formed a very strong bond. Thank you for putting out this video. People really don't need a bird like this unless they are willing to devote time and care in order to keep it healthy, both mentally & physically. I take her out for at least 2 hours a day, more usually. Everyday! Love your video!
This video is very helpful... I plan on getting a pet bird, a cockatiel because from what I read they are very afective and social... I've been struggling with severe depression for the past few months.... I've been feeling extremely lonely and abandoned even if I have amazing people around.... And I feel like I need something to keep me busy... I want to dedicate my time and affection to someone... Without feeling like they get tierd of me... I really think that taking care and training a little feathery friend would help me a lot..... One of my closest friends haves around 5 birds.... And every time I visit her I like to admire them, listen to them... Or even sing to them... I remember having 2 canaries as a kid... But I was too small to take proper care of them... Even if I loved them.... I remember being afraid of handling them... Because they seemed so fragile and I was scared of hurting them... Also my mother wasn't ok with letting then outside the cage too often... Because she didn't wanted shit and feathers all over the room... She is a bit OCD , when it comes to cleanness... They eventually died.... The female first... Because she got seek... And the male became depressed and followed her an year later... Witch broke my heart.... After all those years... It was pretty hard to convince my mom (I still live with her).... Back then she blame me for the birds death... Because I was neglecting them.... But u can't expect a 7 year old to know how to properly care for two birds... I'm willing to get one to help with my loneliness
Hi. I know this reply is very late, but if you still suffer from depression, I do not suggest a bird as pet. I don't suggest a pet at all. You want to focus on yourself for now.
yes! i have a beautiful 5 year old cockatiel named Chippie. he can be a brat sometimes, but he is very loyal and sweet. cockatiels love and crave affection, attention and head scratches. If you purchase a male, you can teach him to talk a little, say his name (like a pokémon, haha) and even sing! I have taught Chippie to sing, "if you're happy and you know it clap your hands" .
@@cleliaoconnell3705 I somewhat disagree because I suffered from severe depression and getting my dog was the best thing I could have ever done for myself. He kept my mind off my depression and it really helped me through it. He was the reason I laughed and I basically took him everywhere I could. I don't know about any other pets, but dogs are so sweet and can definitely help with loneliness.
I used to have 2 birds at 7-10. My mom never let them out, and we didn't properly feed them and they felt neglected. Eventually died Im 12 now, with much research of birds and capable of getting one. Im very lonely and anxious so I'll need to dedicate myself to a birb. Good luck with your depression!
I know pretty much EVERYTHING about birds, and I've asked my parents for over 6 years, and I've wrote 3 PowerPoints and I saved up money and they still say no😑
Layla Reese how about volunteering at a bird store. Your parents will see your passion eventually. And when you get your own place you will have birds.
honestly this is too relatable. I've wanted rats since elementary school, I wrote essays, and I even made a presentation on a board and everything! Still said no tho lmao
Layla Reese I am in the same position and I know why I couldn’t get one, I wanted one of the most loudest birds there is, if you are trying to get an annoying bird and your parents actually want to sleep, don’t try it. You may not know this but some parents do research on what bird you want.
One big thing I noticed you didn't mention in the video is how long it can take for birds to actually bond with you when you first get them. I have a male eclectus, and have had him for about 5 - 6 years now, and it took a good 2 1/2 - 3 years for him to fully bond with me. Part of this was due to him having abusive owners before me, but even a bird that is well adjusted will take a long time to bond with their owner, many times taking 6 months or more. People don't think of this when they first get a bird, and after a month or two their bird still isn't bonded to them so they give them up, thinking their bird is just mean. This is super important to consider when getting a bird! Yes there are always exceptions, but the vast majority of the time it will be a long while before the bird warms up to their new owner. And this is when given the proper attention and care.
kannaredpanda i know someone with 2 parakeets. They bonded within a month. It's different for eqch individual bird/owner. Thats probably why it wasnt mentioned.
Of course it is different in each case. However that doesn't mean that your friend was the usual either. Most of the time from the people I know who have birds; it can take a very long time for them to bong. Emphasis on 'can'. I never stated that all people have to wait ages to bond with their bird, but it is something that can happen, and frequently does. If you read my whole comment you would have noticed at the end it said "Yes there are always exceptions". I'm glad your friend was an exception, but an exception is just that, it doesn't dictate the norm. It is something that should have been mentioned, because a lot of new bird owners might not realize this, and end up giving up on their bird. A rescue a friend of mine works at has found this to be the case with a lot of the birds they get in, the owners expect to bond with them right away or within a month or two, then they don't, and give up with the idea that their bird doesn't like them, or that they were too mean. It is a real problem that I worry not a lot of people with birds address.
This is reassuring, thank you! I figured it would take a while for my birds to bond with me as they're from a pet store and very skittish. I know they'll have long lives with me, thiugh, so there's plenty of time for them to learn I'm safe to be around :)
kannaredpanda Thank you for the tip! I agree, I wish he would have mentioned it, and this is only the second video I have watched on the topic of considering getting a bird, but I was disappointed that he didn’t mention this and I have a feeling most other videos won’t either. I imagine it might help, if you spend as much time as possible with your bird, immediately after getting him/her. Does it matter how young or old the bird is when you adopt? Or, does it matter the environment (I’m sure it does, apply some common sense) the bird was born into? Also, do they sleep at night? I’ve been warned that they can be loud, but who cares about that while I’m awake, right? 😝 So many unanswered questions!
@Kathy, U own a bird too? My mom got a deal on kona. He was bought before he hatched. A old women raised all sorts of cockatoo and sold em as well as dogs. My mom always loved birds, we have had alot of em as I was growing up. My mom really wanted a yellow crested cockatoo tho since she went to hawaii. She saw one their and wanted one right away. Shortly after we got kona.
"A bird will bond with you" Me: *Looks at my budgie I've had for a year and a half* Hey Sprite! Aren't you cute~ Sprite: *Flies away in fear* Me: ... Yeah thought so..
i bought a lil parakeet from the pet shop because all the mature parakeets bullied him and cracked his beak so i kinds saved him,and now im taming him :D any ideas wat to do first when tamed?
Thanks, whell now he dont trust me cuz he got out of the cage and isnt tamed yet,so i had to slowly aproach to him and grab him cuz he will resist to hop on my hand,so he lost all the trust he built :/ any ideas how to gain it back ? or i need to go from start all over?
Start over, go back to offering him millet seed (budgies/parakeets love millet) and getting him used to you being near him, talking to him etc. It will take time, be patient. After a few weeks take two wooden rods (similar to a perch) and train him to step up (say step up) by gently pushing on his belly with the rod. Do that for a few minutes a day for until you feel like you can try it with your fingers. You can do this, just be patient.
Darryl Sawyer when i got my first parakeet, i think i tamed it in the car cuz i open box to see it, it just got on my finger when i put it by its chest
Great video, I'm really glad you stressed their longevity and need of attention. People often don't interact with them as much as they would with a dog, when many birds need even more time and attention than a dog.
Neglect my bird ? He’s sitting in my chest as I watch videos... If anything he’s annoyed 😂 Edit: seven months later he’s a strong boy 😚 But he’s a brat , I love him tho 👽
Accurate. Had a friend a while back, who had a pet bird. We'd be on skype group calls gaming, and especially when he went afk, the bird would scream its head off. I found it amusing tbh, but it did frustrate other people on the call.
I recently lost my Love Bird, Cheach and He lived to be 7 years old, he was a great bird. He did require alot of attention but it was worth it, we bonded alot. I taught him to give kisses, to dance, and go through a homemade obstacle course xD. Also, Mango is a beautiful bird, and he seems pretty chill in dis vid xD
I've had my birds for like 4 years and they're going strong, I'm so used to their screaming that I just tune out the noise they make and even though they're not that close to anyone in my family, (they're the closest to me but that's not saying much) I still love them and I still want more birds in the future
This a nice video for ppl who are considering getting birds. I wanted to add just a bit more tips for starting bird owners: -Birds CAN die of sadness if left alone for too long or they lose the person/mate they bond with, they can self mutilate as well -Birds are more expensive than your average cat/dog vet, they NEED an avian vet. -Avian vet visits are about $200-500 each visit because they are specialized. -General emergency vets will not know much about birds at all UNLESS they themselves are an avian vet. -Birds are good at hiding illnesses and will not show them until the illness is pretty much established. -Small birds can still have loud calls, so know which ones scream and which ones don't (ex: lovebirds). -A seed only diet is lacking in vitamins and is strongly advised against, pellets are the best type of diet along with. veggies/fruits/cooked foods. -Birds love to chew on things including electric cables, shirts, wood (furniture as well), and the walls. A larger parrot can destroy a chair. Each bird has a different lifespan, energy requirements, diet, so be sure to do your research for any type of bird! Hope this helps!
I really want a pet like a bird or a hamster but my parents are just worried about when we travel! Like will the animal be stressed out? And we don't have a lot of friends who are willing to watch the animal for us and it's too expensive to take them to a place where people watch it! Please reply because I have a dog but we have to pay a lot of money to have people watch her while we're on vacation! Please reply if a bird will be stressed out
You could leave them at your avian vet if theh have animal boarding. If that's too expensive then try to teach your bird into safely traveling. There's a ton of videos on TH-cam about that. Just make sure you teach it before you actually go on vacation
That depends on how attached the bird is to you. I traveled out of country for two weeks and left my baby with a bird sitter and came back to find her near death because she got depressed and refused to eat, which led to having psittacosis as well. Some avian vets have quality boarding for birds which results in a pricey bill. Those are some things to consider before getting a bird. Also, some states and countries have ag restrictions on which birds can come into and out of the country.
Birds and hamsters are very different animals. I have a lovebird and I just recently got a syrian hamster. I would say that birds have much more personality, but are likely to bite a lot. There are also COUNTLESS household items that pose a danger to birds, so you will need an empty room, with only bird perches/cages to exercise your bird. On the other hand, hamsters are much easier to exercise, although are more fragile. They can only live up to 5 years, (if dwarfs) and 3 years (if syrians). This is better if you want a pet that isn't as big of a commitment. You shouldn't use hamster balls (poor ventilation and the hamster can't chose to leave), so must purchase an escape-proof run for them. Neither pet is good with traveling, but (in my own experience) birds will be able to cope okay with a day of travel. Hamsters should always be housed in the same cage (they're stressed easily), so someone should add food to their bowl each day. The minimum size cages for hamsters are quite large, so a pet-sitter will not have to clean the cage, unless you are gone for over 2 weeks. A pet sitter for a bird will have to clean daily and stay for at least an hour, to supervise their exercise. This will be very expensive. Basically, don't travel with either animal (both get stressed). If you can't afford expensive pet-sitters, get a hamster and give a neighbor a few dollars to top-up the food bowl each day.
1) great and informative video! 2)you really love your pets and care for them, which should be normal, but sadly is not because a lot people don't care about animals :/ 3)you are handsome 4)you seem to be really nice :) 5)I like your videos and character a lot :)
Happy TheCat My jenday is just like the sun conure in this video. They want attention all hours unless they're sleeping. Unfortunately they will shriek when they know you're nearby but aren't giving them attention. So Mango is totally content on his shoulder.
I agree with everything but the (Birds hating children) I'm 11 and I own a Lutino cockatiel named Elvis he's very nice to me (my mom is scared of him lol)
Yui Rio its because most young children are rough. This makes the birds want to attack since they most likely feel frightened of the kid is squeezing it. So its more of a warning for kids like that.
You should also mention that medium & especially large parrots can not only break the skin, but can break finger bones as well. I had a friend that had a sulfur crested cockatoo that loved breaking chicken drumsticks to get to the bone marrow. Yes, they also eat meat as well as seeds, fruits & vegetables.
Bird should never be alone. They need a companion 24/7 Left alone the spirit goes from their eyes & they lose their will to live which weakens their immunity. They can use perches they walk over to keep beak & claws blunted or train to nibble their own claws & sand their own beak like mine. I work from home so am with my bird 24/7. I had to teach him to yell mum when I leave the room if he needs me & this stopped him screaming every time I left. He is now 16 so we've been together since he was rescued at 9 months & he is very easy. He is only loud & annoying if I give him cause to be. Some smaller species have repetitive chirruping & larger macaws do not do this. Nor do they imitate annoying sounds. They speak when they need to & will teach us to use shorter words or sounds in place of words, that's how smart they are. Your own personality is what will either make the bird fit or not. Like a badly behaved child. If you raise the bird as a companion you can have amazing fun together. x
Aamna Plays Omg that's a lot! That's awesome though I can't even get one. Lol. Hopefully my parents will let me get one or two soon! I'm a teenager begging for a bird like a 5 year old XD I could just go out and get one myself 😂
Aamna Plays I have two cats.... and that's most of the reason I can't get a bird. I honestly think that I can keep them safe though. Lots of people keep birds and cats together. I really really want one 😩 also she said that I shouldn't keep birds indoors.
Whenever I go on my phone or computer, my bird stands on top of the device facing forwards so his tail is on the screen and I can’t see anything and he doesn’t leave until I scratch his head.
As someone who grew up with dozens of birds in the house I can second everything said in this video. Birds are loud, birds are messy and birds are very particular about people. I had a Senegal parrot that loved me and was friendly towards almost everyone else. The only exception was my mother, she hated her. We also had a sitren crested cockatoo that was very friendly toward women and if he noticed that a man was closer to his favourite woman than he was, he became aggressive toward the man. This was cause for him to be re-homed many times. Don't get me wrong, the were both lovely birds, but these are things you need to take into account when you think about getting a bird. They're very smart and have a lot of attitude in comparison to most other pets.
I have been obsessed with birds since I was little, I would draw them all the time and literally sit in a tree and watch them I also had a bird field book and marked off the birds in it whenever I see one. I really want a parakeet and I have done all the research and know pretty much everything I need to know and I am saving up my money but my mom says no.
Idk if its just mine but my rabbits and birds aren't to hard to take care of but I agree with commitment they need lots of time and love and THEY LIVE FOOORREEVVEEERERR
Absolutely right! What you mentioned is exactly why I'm taking it seriously and putting it on hold even though I'm dying to have one for ages! The topic you covered is this what you considered before buying one? Or due to your experience after you had a bird? I think it's important to give these facts and you certainly are sending some awareness indeed it's a life time commitment!
I've had all kinds of birds since I was 12. I have a 10-year-old Jenday Conure and he's my child. I've had him since he was a baby, it's rare for him to not fly to me. His voice is ear shattering to those who aren't used to it. I do have to say, birds are amazing creatures and they understand a lot of things you wouldn't expect them to.
I'm considering getting a cockatiel. I'm an only child myself, and I'm a beginner. I've always wanted a bird, and I've saved up enough money for a cage, toys, food and essentials + supplies. I also have two dogs, so if you have any suggestions on how to keep my dogs away from my bird if I get it please tell me. Also, what is the best cockatiel food brand and the best store for cages, and toys? I'm currently looking at my local Petco 😊
i have two big dogs and a cockatiel too. for me i just never let them stay in the same room together. if the birds on my shoulder i keep the dogs away. if you're going to clip the wings, look up how to cut them enough so that they can still fly away from the dogs if something does happen.
in my personal opinion a cockatiel is not a very great starter bird. They require much more work than a budgie or lovebird can, and hey are usually bigger than a lovebird or budgie. And for the dogs i say do what harly said.
Oh that's fine by me! I've heard some pretty loud birds before, my father has birds at his house but for the life of me I don't remember what they are. But thank you for the heads up!
Birds are really intelligent and extremely social. My cockatiel (of 13 years now) is sincerely attached to me, when I went abroad to study for 3 years, he plucked all his underwing feathers out of stress even though my parents took care of him as best as they can. We've seen a lot of illnesses that we never thought birds can have so they need to be observed regularly for any signs of unusual stuff. I wouldn't even say they need as much care as a dog, I would say as much care as a child.
Indigoman 2410 i just turned sixteen and i've had a parakeet since early middle school. as long as the child has researched and learned about the bird prior to purchasing one, then you should be fine (:
I got my budgie at 11. I think they should just be supervised to make sure they're handling them right (I used to hold mine in my hand rather than perched on my finger, and she held a grudge against me for it for a looong time. they aren't always very forgiving) and I'd suggest getting one that's already tame, as in it's been hand raised and isn't from Petco or something where it's gonna be terrified of people, because mine wasn't tame when I got her and I didn't have much patience at 11 when all I wanted to do was love her, lol.
Yes! These are great things to keep in mind befor getting a bird! I appreciate that you mentioned that birds bond with you and how sad it can be for the bird when owners just decide to give them up because they get bored of their bird!
Caring for pet birds can often seem like a daunting task. Birds are more exotic than dogs or cats and not many people know how to give them proper care.
@@slurperslurpslurp2670 u have to put them away in their cage or put them on their stand when they poop somewhere u don’t want to, after a while they’ll understand it’s wrong. whenever they poop in their cage or on their stand give them a treat. this way they’ll only poop in places u want them to.
Q: what do you do when you tarvlig or just at work can you still have a bird if your traveling. Because that happens in ny life that am away all day an comes back in the after noon.
yes, yes, yes. even my little budgie will be loud if i’m not there. people really need to understand how much attention birds need, not even just large ones 🤦♀️
I never really felt a connection to an animal instantly until I meet a bird named Lenin. He was so sweet and would rub up against the glass at the pet store because he wanted attention. It was so heartbreaking but I know I’m not ready or in a place where I could have given him the proper amount of care that he needs.
QuarterBach well I've had a rabbit before I looked after her well and my grandpa had 2 cockatiels that I would hold with no issue. I'm sure I'll be alright thx tho
I got a cockatiel when I was your age. I've pretty much have had birds ever since and atm I'm looking for a African Grey though even though a parrot can bond with one person predominately I have had MANY different breeds over time and only my wild lovebird was only bonded to me but I see that to be a fear issue NOT necessarily just personality.
For those who want to know: in the conure family all bird on the sun conure side are very loud and vocal. All conures on the green cheeck side are more quiet.
I've had birds when I was younger and never had them interact so i dont know from experience. I've done a lot of research lately though bc i want to get another one again and i've read that it isn't good or recommended to have 2 different species of bird in the same cage. but i'm not sure.
It takes quite awhile to safely bond (If ever) two different types of bird. It is possible-but you have to watch them closely every time they meet and keep putting them in the same area (outside the cage) for awhile before housing them together or it won’t be safe.
I never had any pets in my life and 5 months ago i decided to visit a petshop and get a pet and so i got a 3 months old indian ringneck ,i never tried to get close to him but he always came to me ,one day i let his cage open and he flew in the house and i was sitting and eating my food and he came right over to me. So from that day i decided to spend more time with my IRN and i taught him tricks and i also gained his trust, wherever i go in the house he flies to me and he would sit on my shoulder for hours, he only shouts like 4 times a day and it isnt so loud, indian ringnecks are very smart and arent shy ,they also have a great personality and the more you spend time with them the less they will try biting ,but they need attention
I've always kind of been lonely in a sense and even though I have a lot of hobbies I don't exactly wanna do them ALL the time. I've always loved birds and now that I'm not a hyper 8 year old I feel that getting a cockatiel would be a great way to also help me with bad anxiety and such, like a distraction of some sorts. My parents basically told me that getting a parrot is intirely my choice since I'll be taking care of it so, I'll probably get it around the beginning of summer so I'm not busy with school and can give it as much attention as they want.
The one thing about having children around birds is sort of true. My dad bought our Parrotlet for himself, and she ended up bonding with my sister. It’s really sweet actually and she is usually a very crazy person, but whenever she’s with her bird, she calms down and cuddles with the bird.
I love how fucking chill your bird is in this video.
they're probably bonded, I had a blue headed conure that was very similar when we were together, but I was home and she could not be on my shoulder or on a perch next to me, she would scream non-stop. They're really cool to have bonded to you though, super sweet, and affectionate. They just chill and make cute little noises when they're happy
Captain Crapnuts that's I want one
Don't mind that's I didn't mean to add that in

first, hopefully get approval from the parental units. second, realize that everyday is a day spent loving, feeding and cleaning after your baby. my son wanted parakeets so bad, he was about 17, he is now 23 and lives away from home and.....yup, his parakeets are now my baby's. so....they'll or she or he will be with you long after your 15....
I recommend a budgie, as young as they have - so you can definitely pair-bond. it's very fulfilling to see them love you when you walk in the room or make noise in the other room. they're adorable.
good luck on your decision.
I know my bird really helped me with my anxiety and depression because she really likes spending time with me
Seeeee i see u saying something like that and it makes me feel like i would benefit having a bird but i mentioned that i dont think im bird material
Talks about how loud the bird is....bird is quiet the entire video.
Watch some of his other vids, when he does scream he screams so much ...
LEMME SMASH hahahahaha. Sun Conures r so loud u prob don’t even know. I leave my sun conure Joy alone in a room for 10 seconds and he starts screaming
Haha yeah but mango is usually REALLY loud.
Sun Conures are the loudest conures.
Birds are usually quiet when you're giving them attention
His bird's trying to do every subtle pose imaginable in front of the camera to take the stage without him knowing. It has succeeded.
King George The Third HELLO KING GEORGE!!
King George The Third hamilton
omg hamilton
I can't resist hamming for a camera.
Karin ღ same my cousin has 2 birds I really wished I could take care of them cause she's only 9 and shes barely home. Plus her bird and i are pales :P
lol my friend has a bird name Polly and same thing happened in his story
Karin ღ - that’s good!

He flew away one day when my mom accidently left the window open :(
Please remember that child behaviour depends on the parents.
Leschwa89 Dude I was afraid when I was reading the end that it was going to say "so my mom let them in and one day when they were playing with it, it ran away".
the same thing happened with my mum and her budgie - she was going to her nan's, and as she was getting out of the car the door of the cage wasn't secure and the bird flew out ;-;
Bobo is my brothers name!
My birds somehow manage to shoot their poop out their cage, I have no idea how they do it.
I have mastered it
Katherine Danis what kind of birds do you have
Idek y I laughed so hard at this 😂🤣
My birbs too
LMAO WHAT-
Your not BASHING, your educating! Thank God! There are over 30 million birds in shelters & rescues in just the U.S alone! ADOPT! DON'T SHOP!❤❤
*We can't adopt birds in Brazil*
People laugh when I talk about how much my parakeet requires care and attention. They believe parakeets are like fishes, that they can't really interact with humans. But they're so wrong! My parakeet is my baby and I'm always with him when I'm home.
Aw
Is he good going outside? I might be getting a parakeet very soon, and it’s just something I really need to know. Thanks!
Fish can interact with hoomans depends on what species
Bridget Donovan if you have an aviary yes, if not, it’s not the best choice
a lot of people think having a bird is all fun and games, some birds mate for life, when you get a bird, it chooses you as its partner, if you do not pay attention to your bird it will get sad and start to hurt itself, ie, start to pluck its feathers. birds are very high maintenance
One of my 4 birds is named Rain and she REALLY likes me and nobody else. Tweety and Frosty love some people. Gidget only likes my brother
Jackie Russell I have a 14 year old amazon and i completely agree, hes really hard work and hes extremely clingy... also bloody loud. Im stuck with him though, wouldn't be without him
Pkmnfan01
Actually i think that everyone who wants a bird, already knows that it's NOT a game.
You really have to take care of them.
I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND to get 2 birds NOT 1 bird.
im not getting a bird, i already have an amazing hamster :)
Susan Ritter I'm getting mine soon! We are naming him Poco! All of my pets start with the letter "P". Any advice?
That bird is older than me
This video is very helpful... I'm willing to get one to help with my loneliness
thid is so cute yet sad :(
Eventually died
Im 12 now, with much research of birds and capable of getting one.
Layla Reese me too I WANT A LITTLE BIRD BUT THEY SEY *NO*
Same here.
honestly this is too relatable.
Dogs bark, cats meow, and birds unleash their inner demons with a guttural scream, simple.

I just thought of prettypastelplease Bc she has Archie😊

My mom owns a yellow crested cockatoo. We have had him since I was 10. I'm 25 now. They live for about 80 years. His name is kona.
My mom bought him for 1 thousand dollars. And yes...birds are alot of work, loud, and messy. I'm not a bird person. Not for pets anyway.
They don't live up to 80 years well some cockatoos did but they mostly live up to 25 years possibly 40 too everythings possible
xXBrittany20Xx 1k for a bird? Fk dat
$1,000 is the mid-range. Hyacinth Macaws go for $10,000 and up. Moluccan Cockatoos can easily be as much as $2,000. Low range is usually around $800.
Shortly after we got kona.

i bought a lil parakeet from the pet shop because all the mature parakeets bullied him and cracked his beak so i kinds saved him,and now im taming him :D
any ideas wat to do first when tamed?
Play with him, teach him tricks, give him toys, let him sit on your shoulder/lap while you are watching tv/playing videogames. etc.
You can do this, just be patient.
mortal ubi this also helped me lol thanks
Darryl Sawyer when i got my first parakeet, i think i tamed it in the car cuz i open box to see it, it just got on my finger when i put it by its chest
Great video, I'm really glad you stressed their longevity and need of attention. People often don't interact with them as much as they would with a dog, when many birds need even more time and attention than a dog.
At first, I looked more at your eyebrows than the bird. I love them!

I wanted to add just a bit more tips for starting bird owners:
-Birds CAN die of sadness if left alone for too long or they lose the person/mate they bond with, they can self mutilate as well
-Birds are more expensive than your average cat/dog vet, they NEED an avian vet.
My vet treats all animal's including cats, dog's ,cows, horses, and bird's.

Please reply if a bird will be stressed out
+Tyler Rugge oh my gosh I didn't think you would reply! Thanks for helping me because we travel a lot Ō_Ō
+Tyler Rugge if I travel to like the beach for a week or longer could I leave my bird with the vet?
2)you really love your pets and care for them, which should be normal, but sadly is not because a lot people don't care about animals :/
3)you are handsome
4)you seem to be really nice :)

Also my parakeets Tiki, Chim, and Sylvie love you!
Ryan and Elvis oh god😂😂😂😂
Ryan and Elvis I think he means toddlers....
Ryan and Elvis i think he means like a 5yr old or something
Same my moms scared of it cuz it’s big and mines named sunshine
You should also mention that medium & especially large parrots can not only break the skin, but can break finger bones as well. I had a friend that had a sulfur crested cockatoo that loved breaking chicken drumsticks to get to the bone marrow. Yes, they also eat
meat as well as seeds, fruits & vegetables.
mango is pretty!
If you raise the bird as a companion you can have amazing fun together. x

Whenever I go on my phone or computer, my bird stands on top of the device facing forwards so his tail is on the screen and I can’t see anything and he doesn’t leave until I scratch his head.
Mango is the cutest thing ever!!!
So true! People should do their research more before getting a feathered friend.
Im getting budgies today🦜 I already know a lot of this things but I’ve learnt so much from this!!!🦜🥰
when he was talking about mango biting he looked sideways like "and i'll do it again BOP BOP"
8:34 their heads moved at the same time 💀💀
That was freaky lol
Watched it like 100 timss
My dream was to have a parakeet
Yoooooo
I have been obsessed with birds since I was little, I would draw them all the time and literally sit in a tree and watch them I also had a bird field book and marked off the birds in it whenever I see one. I really want a parakeet and I have done all the research and know pretty much everything I need to know and I am saving up my money but my mom says no.
Bro I have a green cheeked conure and you're completely right
Idk if its just mine but my rabbits and birds aren't to hard to take care of but I agree with commitment they need lots of time and love and THEY LIVE FOOORREEVVEEERERR
Your berd: my hooman singing to find a mate, cute.
😢 I just thought of my imaginary/future bird dying
Bruh same
That's one of the reasons I don't want a pet-
I've had all kinds of birds since I was 12. I have a 10-year-old Jenday Conure and he's my child. I've had him since he was a baby, it's rare for him to not fly to me. His voice is ear shattering to those who aren't used to it. I do have to say, birds are amazing creatures and they understand a lot of things you wouldn't expect them to.
sooo no one gonna talk about how PERFECT his eyebrows are
I'm considering getting a cockatiel.
Have the bird in the cage and have the dog on the leash and let the dog see the birds is he cannot handle it get a baby gate by your dog
in my personal opinion a cockatiel is not a very great starter bird. They require much more work than a budgie or lovebird can, and hey are usually bigger than a lovebird or budgie. And for the dogs i say do what harly said.
What kind of bird is Mango?
a sun conure
+Robert H thank you :)
They're very very very loud by the way. In case you were considering buying one.
Oh that's fine by me! I've heard some pretty loud birds before, my father has birds at his house but for the life of me I don't remember what they are. But thank you for the heads up!
fantasyjojo17 like, they are incredibly loud. It's like a foghorn in your ear!
Would you consider a middle school aged child too young for a pet parakeet?
Indigoman 2410 i just turned sixteen and i've had a parakeet since early middle school. as long as the child has researched and learned about the bird prior to purchasing one, then you should be fine (:
im in middle school i have a huge amazonian parrot. i think youre ok.
i_like_birds I'm in the uk. 13 is middle school age, right? Well I have a budgie. (Parakeet) an DT he youngest is 10
If you do lots of research. I'm getting one and I'm 12.
Hey Tyler, what kind of bird is mango, and I was thinking of getting one so I can train it, do they have to be young
Tyler Rugge ok thank you
Tetraspis yeh I was gonna adopt a cockatiel from the RSPCA but there were none in my aria so I'm getting two from a breeder
i was going to get a cockatiel too but i wanted a type of conure so i am going to adopt a green cheek conure
I know I shouldn't buy from the pet store, but the poor birds sit there for weeks or more, who rescues them from the store?
Its a Sun Conure
Hmm...... YOU ARE A PIRATE UNDER COVER 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱
... °~°
That srlsy doesn't make sense,0-0,
Haha get cause pirate's have parrot's on their shoulder"s?
Who here spoils their bird, mine is out all day
How long have you had your bird?
And how is it?
But it poops everywhere doesn’t it? What do u do?
Mine are and they go into the cage only to sleep.
Lucky bird
@@slurperslurpslurp2670 u have to put them away in their cage or put them on their stand when they poop somewhere u don’t want to, after a while they’ll understand it’s wrong. whenever they poop in their cage or on their stand give them a treat. this way they’ll only poop in places u want them to.
Q: what do you do when you tarvlig or just at work can you still have a bird if your traveling. Because that happens in ny life that am away all day an comes back in the after noon.
i love how this video is really general. not only for small or big birds. it really helped me out.
I really want a bird I was just curious what kind of bird do you have? it looks very nice
Tyler Rugge How much did he cost?
Ava L get a love burs there so adorable
Ava L it's a sun conure they are soooo cute and sweet
Ava L if you want one do your homework and they can be very pricy so 600 dollars 💵 if not more
Ava L it is a sun conure or a fancy conure
yes, yes, yes. even my little budgie will be loud if i’m not there. people really need to understand how much attention birds need, not even just large ones 🤦♀️
I wanna get a bird, even though I own a hamster...and a bearded dragon...and I’m 10. Lol I wanna grow up to be like Tyler lol
ACE YT think twice...
I’m ten too and I am going to get a birdie tomorrow! You’re lucky tho... you have 2 more animals than me!
Allie Brooks how’s your bird? What kind?
I got a budgie and he’s doing great! Thank you
IHave NoIdeaWhatIAmDoing how about instead become a real man that likes women.
I never really felt a connection to an animal instantly until I meet a bird named Lenin. He was so sweet and would rub up against the glass at the pet store because he wanted attention. It was so heartbreaking but I know I’m not ready or in a place where I could have given him the proper amount of care that he needs.
Would a bird be ok for a 13 year old?
Ben Rebeiro As long as you are patient, calm and gentle
QuarterBach well I've had a rabbit before I looked after her well and my grandpa had 2 cockatiels that I would hold with no issue. I'm sure I'll be alright thx tho
Ben Rebeiro I would say a dove or a parakeet.
Ben Rebeiro Np
I got a cockatiel when I was your age. I've pretty much have had birds ever since and atm I'm looking for a African Grey though even though a parrot can bond with one person predominately I have had MANY different breeds over time and only my wild lovebird was only bonded to me but I see that to be a fear issue NOT necessarily just personality.
lol how many times does he say like
Furious Dasher988 :D
Furious Dasher988 lol iam dead
We should take a shot everytime he says "like"
He must be in California. It's a Cali thing. :L

Hey what type of bird is mango. Mango's very pretty. And looks very sweet and calm.
Sun conure.
For those who want to know: in the conure family all bird on the sun conure side are very loud and vocal. All conures on the green cheeck side are more quiet.
I named my bird mango srry for copying you I just love your bird so if you see this awesome.....
Can someone please help me... is it okay if you get a green cheek conure and a parakeet in the same cage?? (if I do it will be a pretty big cage)
Aesth0tik depends on if they bond or not, keep a close eye on them
I've had birds when I was younger and never had them interact so i dont know from experience. I've done a lot of research lately though bc i want to get another one again and i've read that it isn't good or recommended to have 2 different species of bird in the same cage. but i'm not sure.
It depends if they get along or not
It takes quite awhile to safely bond (If ever) two different types of bird. It is possible-but you have to watch them closely every time they meet and keep putting them in the same area (outside the cage) for awhile before housing them together or it won’t be safe.
I have a sun conure and two parakeets and we have separate cages for them and recommend u get different cages for each but idk
P S i have two Birds and i'm ten
Nya Fel YAY I'm 11so I'm old enough 😀
Nya Fel I have a bird and I am 11 years old😀
I'm getting a pet bird on my birthday. Sooo... In 2 weeks.
And that is my 12th birthday
I have 2 rabbits and 2 guinea pigs and I'm ten I might be getting two sun conures
What type of bird is that
Oscar Beattie Sun conure
Maverick
kiwi chill
I have a pet bird his name is Rosie; he's more to me than just a pet, he's my best friend
What kind of bird? And is it too noisy? I want one but my parents said no because it will be loud and annoy my dog
Kaylee Lynn there’s certain birds that are quieter than others you just gotta do your research!
My pet conure Maverick is my best friend as well.
Becky Ann i have a bird named rosie too!
I’m going to be 12 and I may gat a bird for my birthday I’m doing a lot of research and I want to know if I should be older.
Tymber Holt I'm 12 and I have a blue budgie parakeet. Smaller is better for younger in my opinion so you can handle it easier.
Ye I am all so 12 tiring 13 and have that same bird I think that it is fine as long as u are responsible
Him:birds are intelligent
My bird:keeps hitting the wall even tho it isn’t hard to avoid
The tøp poster is the background has most of my attention
Sadie Ratcliffe i saw them and immediately went down to le comments to look for peeps like u
I’m ten but I have a friend with 7 birds and they don’t mind me so I’m getting a bird it’s either gonna be a finch or a canary
The one thing about having children around birds is sort of true. My dad bought our Parrotlet for himself, and she ended up bonding with my sister. It’s really sweet actually and she is usually a very crazy person, but whenever she’s with her bird, she calms down and cuddles with the bird.
