I was actually looking into getting a conure, but last time you talked about MyRightBird, I went and took the quiz. It recommended that a cockatiel would suit me better and after a bunch of research, the quiz was right - so guess what I'm getting this sunday ;) Thank you for making me aware of the cute website, Tyler
When I first got a cockatiel I let it sit in its cage for two hours while I was playing on my computer somewhat near it, afterwards I really wanted to get to know it so I took it out and about an hour later it was on my shoulder loving me and letting me pet his head softly, it was really cute. Two weeks later I take it outside with no problem and just hang out with my bird not having to fight it to stay with me. A week after that I take him on a bike ride through a "Green Belt" (a pathway in a suburban type area that looks like a forest but if you walk 50 feet out, there are houses) and no matter how fast or slow I went he just wanted to hang out with me. To me this proves how different birds can be from each other, was it dangerous? yeah probably. But I had bonded with my bird so closely that I was never worried. Of course, I would never recommend this, but moral of the story, I believe that taming a bird not only takes your own pace but the bird's pace as well. I just so happened to get very lucky.
I had to tame my cockatiel. 💕 I got her when I was 8, my parents did a lot of the cleaning and feeding and water changes back then but she was my second pet ever. She was vary skittish and agressive. So I would just sit by the cage and read to her for the longest time. She bit most other members of the family but not me. Eventually I started reaching into the cage but i left one perch as her "safe place" when she stepped on it I would close the cage and wait for her to relax. After a 4 months I had her completely tamed. She even learned a few tricks, she would climb all over my room and sit on my shoulder. I had her for exactly 8 years and then a few days after my birthday a lump appeared just behind her left leg... We scheduled an appointment for the fallowing thursday (3 days after the lump appeared) but the next day the lump was a masive fluid filled sack and we rushed her to the animal hospital. Turns out it was a hernia, they told me They couldn't operate because of her age and the position of the abdominal tear. They drained the sack and sent me home with a bunch of pain killers to give her. They told me that if her condition worsened, or the sack changed color It would be best to bring her back and have her put down. I had to bathe her twice every day because the poop would dry on the hernia. It was the best part of her day because she got to relax in the water and take the weight off her belly. 3 days of this tho and I finally I cracked and scheduled the appointment to have her euthanized. She was my best friend for so long that I told myself I'd never get another bird. . Then... A few months before my 21st birthday I changed my mind and started looking into English Budgies (still not sure when or if I'll ever adopt another cokatiel). My parents, also bird lovers, missed my cockatiel so much that the offered to get the budgie for me for my birthday and we ended up adopting two of them from a local bird rescue/sanctuary. . They are far from tame right now, but I read to them every day... They bring an entirely new light back into my life but I still miss my baby...
Da Dragon Durp my birds don’t even know fruit is food yet. I not only need to tame them but make them tolerate me enough to EAT WHAT THEY NEED TO EAT 😭
If you’re considering getting a bird (RESEARCH!) *definitely* consider adoption there are SO many birds in shelters and foster homes that need a permanent home. Birds are the third most abandoned pet & 85% of parrots are re-homed after only two years of being “adopted”/bought. Parrots are pets that require *a lot* of attention and special care, because they’re still wild animals. If you research bird/parrot care before buying/adopting, they can be lifetime companions that will love you so much.
Existential Crisis I totally agree And I'm grateful that people can get help and information from people like you and Taylor I just can't stress enough how important it is to research an animal before getting one
Get A Penguin Exactly, houseofhades had it right. Sometimes (actually quite often) it takes a while for birds to warm up to you. I’ve heard of cases when it can take months or even years before a bird isn’t scared around their human. The best thing to do is take it slow. It’s better to have a slow and steady bonding time than to try and rush it, because your bird may get frightened and you’ll have to start over again. They have to get past the stage where they think you’re a predator and then they also need to accept you into their “flock”. Parrots have the mental capacity, like humans, to be picky in who they like or dislike. Occasionally, birds will never warm up to you. But, if you’re the main caregiver and spend a few hours a day with your bird (give him/her treats when your there so the bird associates you with good feelings), it shouldn’t take long (unless you or a previous caregiver has traumatized the bird in some way) before it likes you. Remember: research, take it slow and spend lots of time with your bird!
That's my main problem, the two main rooms in my house that are most used/hung out in are both right next to the kitchen with nothing separating them but a bench and pantry... all the other rooms are bedrooms and the bathroom which I obviously don't want to keep them in😂...
Not certain about the points made but ,if anyone else is searching for how to teach a parrot tricks try Dalz Parrot Tips Discovery (do a google search ) ? Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my cousin got great results with it.
Hey birbs are cool. Mine are gouldian finches though, so it will literally take like a year or more before they will feel safe with my hand in the cage. They can have an actual heart attack if I move too fast or make a loud noise. 😂
CatAleah I have a gray African parrot and she either a. Stares at me bc I'm annoying her, b. Tries to get out, or c. Tries to bite me (she didntvreally do that one tho).
I just love it when I see good souls like you, it's so important for the pet carer to form a bond with their pets, I have a Galah Cockatoo which is showing to be smarter than I ever thought, I am taking time to form a friendship with him and also teaching my other family members how to act around him, so I am basically training everyone in the house!🙈
Bird Flight- My kitchen and living room are also one connected space. I am very careful about turning on the fan on my cooktop when cooking on the stove or in the oven to minimize any fumes. I guess it’s a step in the right direction. If I burned something, I’d take Kira to another room for a while. (Hasn’t happened yet, but that’s my plan).
I bought a young Sun Conure that was parent raised. I didn't know how to train birds so I trained her like a dog complete with hand commands. I trained her with praise and affection. I never used food for training.
Your pet dog is so chilled! 😂 Mango is cuuute! I just got a sun conure 4 days back... He doesn't let me pet him... 😑 I have seen so many cute videos and I am depressed. ☹️
SuperIntuitive Womaniya I have a budgie, and I’ve had him for almost a year now, and he still doesn’t let me pet him, and he doesn’t like coming out of the cage, and I’ve seen videos and I’m sad now, because the other budgies are playful, but my bird is not playful, he hates me.
I adopted a little budgie named Elvis from the Michigan Humane Society last week and have just started training him, thankfully my other budgies are setting a good example! I initially got budgies after watching your last video sponsored by MyRightBird because the quiz gave me the final push after months of research that I was choosing the right bird to adopt!
I had the same problem but now they let me touch them and they know how to step up too. I recommend like Tyler said put your hand in cage (with seeds) if they come to your hand they will trust you everything you put your hand in they won't br afraid and will trust u more
You don't know how much I need this. I recently got my first bird (a budgie). He is around a month old and even though he got used to being held and perched upon fingers as a baby, he always bites me on my fingers or my neck whenever he sits on my shoulder. I will try these tips. Thank you so much for making this again!!❤
i used to be so terrified of birds until mom and I were walking through PetSmart and saw a green cheek conure and bonded with it and cried until we decided to buy it lol and now birds are my favorite animal aside from dogs and cats lol. I love love love your videos Tyler and all of your animals are so amazing !!!!
I got a green check recently and he’s adorable! He likes to either sit on top of his cage or fly to my shoulder (He spends all of his cage time trying to push the door open!) The only issue is that he is extremely bitey (major takes skin off bites) He is absolutely not afraid of me (which might be easier to be honest) and he’s super happy about sunflower seeds and cantaloupe. I love him but I want to pull my hair out lol
I feel guilty for neglecting my bird all these years. When i was little we got my two sun conures but they were mainly my mom and dads. They never really let me near them for obvious reasons, but they *Loved* my dad, but my dad left around 7 and my mom had been neglecting these birds and over time they got aggressive, so i’m watching this video to gain their trust again :)
Breanna Fowler omg I have a cockatiel two I always come up to her and when she is out she gets a bit scared to fly but still flies to me😂😂😂#cockatiellife
You are very right with birds being smarter than people think. My grandmother admits that she never thought that birds were smart until she met my mothers cockatoo. He liked to play, he understood the context of words he was taught, he liked to make people laugh, he was toilet trained, ect... They are an incredibly smart animal and people underestimate their intelligence when getting then as pets
HELP I have budgies and to the leaving the cage open how do I get them back in when I need them to. Please answer Edit: and mine just go frantic when they got out yesterday and almost hurt them selves won’t they just go frantic
If it won't step up and just bite/attack you or fly away, you can try and dim down the lights to the point where you can barely see the bird but it can't see you, now get it to step up normally with the command and put it back in... I think this works because the bird will be a bit hesitant to start flying in the dark and they won't fight back because they don't know it's your hand. Youre welcome
Jamie Yutzy if you have a lot of time don’t handle the bird... put their favorite treat in there cage and they’ll probably get bored after a while and wander in. If you don’t have a lot of time get there food bowl and they’ll usually step up on it and you can get them in the cage. Hopefully this works for you!
slowly get closer to them and softly talk/ sing. lure them with their favorite foods and try to get them on your hand, if that doesn’t work then try to wait until they go back in the cage?
I know this goes against people who are totally against pet stores, but I have found that the time with my local pet store has been imperative in choosing the right bird for me. I went to my local pet store 4 different days where they hand hand-reared baby birds who were constantly loved on and given all of the toys they could possibly want. I was thinking to myself many thoughts when trying to choose a bird like, "Wow, this macaw is so cute-ouch, he keeps biting me," or, "Oh, she is so cute but I'm not really in love with her." It took 4 times for me to go there, often spending multiple hours watching and petting the babies, until I found this one black-headed caique who seemed instantaneously attached to me. Obviously, I fell in love with her and the rest is history. This experience has shown me how important it is to really spend time and know the bird and her personality before you purchase it. You might be thinking you want a Hahn's macaw - like I previously did - and you might find that they really aren't suited for you. If you really want to know what you want in a bird, go to the seller or adoption agency and spend time. Enjoy yourself. You will know when the right bird comes along. You won't choose them; They will choose you.
I have had my birds since November and whenever I walk the get so scared. They arnt clipped and fly everywhere . They are so scared and I do everything for them . Help what do I do Edit : they arnt aggressive they are just scared
Min Yoongi put them in the cage, use your hand to replace food and water, talk to them and put your hand in a point position (a perch) and try again don't force your bird, it still works but it's harder
Hi! I got a love bird around 6 months ago. He was very much quiet the first month. Literally thought the birb was broken 🤣. One day he was in his cage and in my room and a song was playing- he suddenly started to scream and just a bunch of different noises. Slowly he began to scream, for songs or when we talked or when he head other birds outside. Later he figured out how to open his cage and fly out. We had to catch him every night tho. Then we pegged the cage door and let him out in the morning and taking him back in by night. He eats anything- actually even stuff we eat. He always sits on my shoulder when I'm getting my food, or just wants to see what I am up to. The only thing is he is scared when I approach him. Sometimes he ate from my hand but then recently he flies off. I watched a bunch of videos and realized I have not been taking good care if my bird, and now I know I should be doing. But what more can I do?
When it comes to birds, it's all about building and gaining trust. And from that trust can you develop a loving, bonded relationship with your bird. But, it takes a long time to build trust, and you can NOT rush it. It all has to be at your bird's pace. It took me years to develop the loving, bonded relationship I have with my green cheek conure (who still hates everyone besides me lol). You have to understand that most birds come from traumatic situations that they were imprinted with, unless they were hand raised from a loving breeder (which usually is not the scenario). It takes time, but be patient and compassionate to your bird and it's needs.
Ill be getting a beautiful jenday conure named Saturn tomorrow (fingers crossed!) And will definately be using this video after his adjustment days to make sure he stays happy and safe. I'm not too worried about him being super fearful seeing as he actually let me give him a few chest rubs when we met him. Hopefully everything goes smoothly in the next few weeks. Thanks for the super informative video!
Thanks for the advice, hopefully now my bird won’t be so mean to me now. Lol. Now what do I do when my bird attacks my dog? Lol my dog is terrified of going in the room when my bird is out of the cage. P.S. you and mango are really cute and adorable
Michael Leon just don't allow them to be in the same room with each other. Causes unnecessary stress and introduces a possible dangerous situation should your dog get ahold of the bird.
********** ######### I'm taking my birds out of the cage daily and now we actually get along! They'll let me pick them up, hand feed them and put them. So try taking them out of the cage for 2-3 hours a day, so that you can bond with them.
Budgies are so different in trusting people. I got a budgie and he was so nice and tame after one Week i could touch him and he sat on my head and fingers. A few month later we bought him a little buddy and he was scared of everything. He never got tame and just when entered the room he was so scared and was hiding and flew away.
So.. I have a 3 year old cockatiel I’ve been really struggling to tame. It’s been about a month and I’ve been patient and training him as much as I can. He just is not okay with being handled at all. He doesn’t let anyone touch him but he accepts treats inside of his cage when I leave him alone. Any tips on bonding with an older bird? Edit: He’s hella antisocial
I'm so glad I found this video. I've been trying the treat this ng and is has helped. I just inherited and pineapple conure and a Quaker parrot. It has been a different experience. I already have a macaw and we've living together for 10 years. We kinda of are a stalemate. He tolerates me. If he could find another human to run away with he would. Needless to say I've made a lot of mistakes with him. He was my very first bird ever. So with these two I'm trying to get it right. I've had them for about a month now and they really want to be where I am but don't really trust me. Just giving it time and lots of treats. Doing the same with the macaw. It's never too Male for him to like me again. Thanks for posting.
I was worried too, but once your bird get used to their surrounding and hear your dog barking, your dog will also get used to the birds in their territory
My dog was intrested at the beginning, but then we scolded her when she tried to bite him, and in a couple days she learned! However my parrot wasnt scared of the dog
i just got a 4 year old quaker parrot. he is nippy but i am giving him time and patience and he loves rice and flax bread, so i give him a grain of rice and talk to him. i heard that eating with your bird brings you closer. he is doing much better after a few days. i put on music for him and other birds, even cartoons.
My Bird, Ollie is almost a year old, so we have been together for a long time, he trusts me to feed him with my hand and to step up on my hand, he likes to be pet, the grooming place still isn't gonna be trimming wings for a while so I hold his back carefully and hang out by his cage to keep him from flying. He still can bite and doesn't trust me too much yet. The main issue is that I am the youngest / smallest (kid) so Ollie tends to look for my older brothers if they are in. Me and my family loves Ollie, and Ollie loves us too, so we are doing great so far, thanks for giving all these tips! Quick Edit : Sorry if this is a bit too long for some of you to read.
With my experience it's very hard to tame a bird when it's old. When a bird is about 10-12 months old, that's when they start to get aggressive or more cautious. When a bird is young and not that aggressive, that's when you start to play with them and bond with them. If your bird doesn't want to go out or interact, that's maybe because you didn't introduce yourself when you first got them. If you just got your bird, let it settle for a few hours and then that's when you interact. Keep in mind when buying an old bird that's not tamed or handfed, the process will take longer. Let them settle, don't wait a week but instead immediately introduce yourself to them when they seem calm. Be gentle and spend time with your bird with it in it's cage. Remember to be patient, every bird is different
My baby conure ran back to her cage right after I fed her 😅 what should I do? She always ran back to her cage where ever I put her even she fall asleep on me when she’s up she ran 😂😂😂 whyyyyyy
Hey you probably wont read this ik this vid is a bit old 2! But can you or anyone who's a bird expert that reads this help me with one of my questions? Okay so my parents finally agreed for me to get a sun conure and my question is, does the bird poop anywhere or does it go back to its cage to poop? Can you train them to? Ik mango pooped on ur back at the end but I thought it was probably cuz hes uncomfortable or nervous.
Letting my 2 parakeets out of their cage was such a great way of taming. And I found, as you said, it was 10 times easier for them to step up. After about two times of saying ‘up’ and putting a little pressure just above their feet, they were perching in my finger just by me saying ‘up.’ Twice Ace, my parakeet, flew around and landed on my head! He chilled there for awhile before migrating down to my shoulder. The tips really helped, and now they are becoming easier to handle! Thanks again! 🦜🦜🐾🐾
First comment I love u so so much I love all your pets to it took me 4 months of reasesrch about bunny’s and I’m getting a bunny this weekend plz reply I love u
I have some love bird baby’s. I come home from work and put them in my hoodie. I walk around and do day to day things. It gets them use to my voice and being next to me. They honestly love to cuddle.
Thanks so much for this video. I have 2 baby conures and I have a love hate relationship with them. They like me just not my hands or anything. I've done having the door open several times & letting them go back in themselves & although they still don't like hands, the trust is building more. :)
please read this and respond i really need help. if u do thank you. so i have a peach faced lovebird that have owned for about 2 months. it still hates me. even before i tried doing the hand thing where u put your hand near the cage and its getting slightly better but the bird still freaks out at random and makes my whole family mad(i dont personally care). my grandparents can hear him through 2 closed doors in our living room while hes sitting on my computer desk in which i spend most of my day.. when i did try feeding him a treat he was actually getting close to my hand after 20 mins but i couldnt hold it anymore and my hand started twitching and he got spooked. the one time i did let him out of the cage after a month(was on accident) he freaked out and he flew around for 3 hours while me trying to catch him. eventually i just left his cage door open and let him walk in to get food then i closed the cage door. also should mention that his cage is a bit too small, gonna geta bigger one soon.but at this point i dont know what to do. he still hates me. im gonna try feeding him treats again. P.S. is cllipping wings necessary? i support wing clipping but will i have to keep doing it or just for the taming process? If u read this entire thing then thanks, if u respond then i cant thank u enough
This video is PERFECT TIMING!!! I just got my bird about a month ago and he is V scared of me he used to bite but I taught him not to which is 👌🏼. Sick video Tyler 👏🏼
My tip might seem bad and maybe evil, but in dire situations where the bird is really hostile or evasive, my tip worked. If you have a trouble bird, try getting it into a situation where it is not capable of getting out, or something he needs help to do. Get stuck, and more, but without them knowing you did it. Then proceed to save them and give them treats and reassuring words. They will associate you with being safe/secure. Only use this if there is no other way, some might think of it as animal abuse.
absolutely loved the quiz, very explanatory, would just like it better if you added a comparison tool because the diference between cockatiels is so minimum I can hardly tell them apart :D
took me 3 months for my bird finger remover to finally chill out and not attempt to deglove my finger. hes great now. i actually just bought a small bird stand would let him out of his cage and let him just go and do what he wants got a training stick just to have him climb up on it since he didnt like hands. i got the small stand for him to stand on and just carry him around the house to where ever i would go. then started feeding him sunflower seeds and snack occasionally learning what he likes and doest food wise. noise wise watching his sleep pattern normally they start yelling late at night if they wanna sleep at least mine do if there on my shoulder. two green cheeks conures . both males and i think they are bonding unsure but see lots of attempted feeding mouth wise im the ones that jealous now.
My bird is in the family room, always has been. He comes & goes while we are home. He was raised on the floor like dogs & cats. I don't worry about the other animals hurting him, I worry about him hurting them. He has before. My flock, & pack has a mutual respect for each other, but I still keep watch.
I got a bird named Doc yesterday and I can already handle him and pet him and all that fun stuff! But , I couldn’t have had those advantages without this vid! I used some tricks like feeding him by hand and slowly opening the cage more and more by time...it was stressful but it was worth it and I’m glad it didn’t take a weeks worth!❤️🐦
I have a severe macaw, a sun conure, a gold cap conure, a cinnamon conure, a black hooded conure, two parrotlets, a greater sulfur cockatoo and two cockatiels. My love of birds is recent for me, most of the birds listed are my parents, I only personally own three of the conures. I love conures, I think they are great pets, thank you for the tips though. My cinnamon is a newer addition, he is super aggressive and mean to me, I think it is because he was slightly abused by the pet store that I got him from. Do you have any tips for a bird that has a gender preference? Our severe macaw is aggressive toward women and it was fine in the beginning because my dad was home more, but he works a lot now. Iggy (Severe macaw) likes me a lot, he talks the most to me and sings to me, but I cannot touch him at all. We’ve had him for eight years and I’d like him to be as happy as possible, I think he’d like it better if I could get him out of his cage. But when his cage is open, he tries to attack us all...so tips welcome!
Thank you so much. I just got 2 love birds and having been going through so many videos to learn about them but couldn't find all the info I needed till I found your video.😊 thank you it helped so much
The problem for me is that he is scared of hands kinda. He eats from my hand, but as soon as i go near him with me hand otherwise he just flies away.. anything i gotta do differently or do i just keep on hand feeding him?
I've heard that to get a bird used to a t-stand or some other perch you want to use for out of cage time, is to place it in view of the bird so he can observe it before you put him on it for the first time.
This helped me understand birds and their behavior a lot more. I’m gonna try this with my bird, because he hates me. And is scared of me. Hopefully it works, thank you! 😫
I just love ur video on how to make ur bird like u. I have a female cockatiel and she was very hard to tame and train but it's kinda gettn easier now..
I have a question I am a little sad about them being in the cage the whole day but I’m also scared about them flying in the ceiling fan can you plz give me some advice about that
I have had my budgies for about two months, and they refuse to ever leave the cage. They may come on my shoulder, but only for a few minutes before they fly back. They bite me whenever I put my hand in, and when I talk to them they sometimes start flying around their cage. HELP ME PLEASE!
Sophia Okwuosa sorry if this is late, but you could use another object to get them out. Use a separate perch instead of your hand and that should probably do the trick. Most birds often feel obligated to protect their home and will bite any living things that come through it. After they’re out, show the bird that your fun to be with. You could get the bird a harness and take him outside with you while feeding him a treat when he stays on your finger. You could also get a toy and dangle it in front of him while he sits in your finger. That always worked with my tiel when he was still getting used to me. Good luck!
6 months ago I got a budgie. My budgie is fully trained. We leave the bird cage open and she always flies everywhere. First of all to make your bird happy, buy it a lot of toys. The toy that matters to me is a mirror and a swing. Next is to be gentle with it all the time. My tita (aunt in Tagalog) had wild birds but they flew away. My cousin really loved my budgie and decided to get one. Now she has a cute blue budgie. First of all my other tita tried to force her to go on her finger. She’s not anymore. I hope. Next I named their bird hurricane. How I figured out with the name is they named it tornado then I gave this name suggestion. Don’t be scared with your first budgie. It will not bite it’s too shy
With my last birdie (peach faced lovebird), I found that other pets can really get to a bird. I have three cats, yes I know great combo, but they were pretty trustworthy, and if the cats were around at all, Dover would get all prissy and attack my hand (or ear lobe) like her life depended on it. So my advice to everyone is to make sure to train your other pets as well. Keep them at a distance until they earn some trust with each other.
Hello (: I have had budgies for about three months and am super sad about my girlfriend and I’s situation with them. After a couple of days we had won over their trust. They would allow us to pet them in their cage, carry them out on our finger, and hang out with us outside of the cage. That was until we had allowed her family members to care for them while we were away. My birds are now traumatized because they had mishandled them outside of my presence. Is it possible to regain their trust? Or will they forever be scarred? I am angry about the situation but I’m hoping to gain the relationship I once had with my budgies. Any help would be appreciated ! (Btw I have learned my lesson about letting others handle my birds outside of my presence. Never again!)
Your angry rainbow chicken is good
Xd
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
No it's a angry rainbow doggo puff
AAHAHHAHA
xD
Why is Mango literally the cutest?

I was actually looking into getting a conure, but last time you talked about MyRightBird, I went and took the quiz. It recommended that a cockatiel would suit me better and after a bunch of research, the quiz was right - so guess what I'm getting this sunday ;) Thank you for making me aware of the cute website, Tyler
SummonWolf i have a cockatiel and he is amazing. they are a great choice
I’m getting one in April! :) Good luck with your bird!
I have one They're really nice and Ik my bird does love attention and Whistle :)
Aw!!! I LOVE cockatiels, and they're my sister's favorite bird!!!
Ooooh, twins xD Good luck with them!
How ..... How......
?
Soo lucky..
I hope he was wearing a harness for his safety..
Was it hand reared when you got him?
Clipped wings huh? That will make it easier.
I had to tame my cockatiel. 💕
I got her when I was 8, my parents did a lot of the cleaning and feeding and water changes back then but she was my second pet ever.
How are they doing now? I’d love to have an update 😊
I hope your ok. He misses you too... he’s in a better place...
Well, I didn't expect to cry right now, but I'm glad she was humanely euthanized, it would have been much worse to let her suffer.
i'm so sorry, but at least you had 8 wonderful years together :) I hope you have lots of luck with your budgies!
Bribe them with fruits.
Da Dragon Durp my bird wont eat fruit
My cockatiels don't care about treats
All birds are different one my first birds was my mom's ringneck & we got his trust with cheese Cheetos & eventually fruit
Da Dragon Durp my birds don’t even know fruit is food yet. I not only need to tame them but make them tolerate me enough to EAT WHAT THEY NEED TO EAT 😭
Da Dragon Durp I prepare a fruit veggie meal for them daily and they wont eat 😩
If you’re considering getting a bird (RESEARCH!) *definitely* consider adoption there are SO many birds in shelters and foster homes that need a permanent home. Birds are the third most abandoned pet & 85% of parrots are re-homed after only two years of being “adopted”/bought. Parrots are pets that require *a lot* of attention and special care, because they’re still wild animals. If you research bird/parrot care before buying/adopting, they can be lifetime companions that will love you so much.
Existential Crisis I totally agree
And I'm grateful that people can get help and information from people like you and Taylor
I just can't stress enough how important it is to research an animal before getting one
i researched but he hates me and is scared of me
Get A Penguin then research more. it takes time and patience
Get A Penguin took about a year for my Lilac Crowned Amazon to bond to me, now we’re best friends. Lots of time and patience! you’ll get there
OMG I JUST GOT A BIRD AND WAS GONNA SEARCH THIS ON YOUR CHANNEL!!!!
What if your kitchen is right next to your living room?
Squishy lovers Forever! That’s okay
That's my main problem, the two main rooms in my house that are most used/hung out in are both right next to the kitchen with nothing separating them but a bench and pantry... all the other rooms are bedrooms and the bathroom which I obviously don't want to keep them in😂...
The Thing not really, there’s non stick cookware in most kitchens and it will harm them
That means you’re a woman.

THEY ARE COLORFUL AF
CatAleah I have a gray African parrot and she either a. Stares at me bc I'm annoying her, b. Tries to get out, or c. Tries to bite me (she didntvreally do that one tho).
I had a zebra finch and it was just laying down dead on sunday then my dad bought a Sun conure today
i also have the same finch with the same problem
CatAleah but I bet they sing well
I just love it when I see good souls like you, it's so important for the pet carer to form a bond with their pets, I have a Galah Cockatoo which is showing to be smarter than I ever thought, I am taking time to form a friendship with him and also teaching my other family members how to act around him, so I am basically training everyone in the house!🙈
So my living room is connected to my kitchen, with no walls so how would I do that
Bird Flight- My kitchen and living room are also one connected space. I am very careful about turning on the fan on my cooktop when cooking on the stove or in the oven to minimize any fumes. I guess it’s a step in the right direction. If I burned something, I’d take Kira to another room for a while. (Hasn’t happened yet, but that’s my plan).
So my kitchen is also the same space as my living room but I have 2 cocktail so I just put them in my room and I just got them like 2 weeks ago
you could get a smaller cage to transport them to your room or a smaller room
I bought a young Sun Conure that was parent raised. I didn't know how to train birds so I trained her like a dog complete with hand commands. I trained her with praise and affection. I never used food for training.

My cockatiel loves me, but he chooses when he wants to fly to me. I can't make the first move. He's frustrating
Breanna Fowler omg I have a cockatiel two I always come up to her and when she is out she gets a bit scared to fly but still flies to me😂😂😂#cockatiellife
You can train him. Sometimes they won't change but for the most part he will if you stick with it.
Please answer
Edit: and mine just go frantic when they got out yesterday and almost hurt them selves won’t they just go frantic
Jamie Yutzy same!!!!!
good idea!
Tyler please answer or someone. If I leave the birdcage open. How will I get him back. He has been stuck in a cage *since he saw light*

Help what do I do
Edit : they arnt aggressive they are just scared
karin rezkkk you should began something small like a small treat. It'll take time but Slowly go towards them.
Min Yoongi put them in the cage, use your hand to replace food and water, talk to them and put your hand in a point position (a perch) and try again don't force your bird, it still works but it's harder
I have the same problem
I have the same problem with a Indian ring neck but my winged bee bee loves everyone
All hail Mango 🍊

When it comes to birds, it's all about building and gaining trust. And from that trust can you develop a loving, bonded relationship with your bird. But, it takes a long time to build trust, and you can NOT rush it. It all has to be at your bird's pace. It took me years to develop the loving, bonded relationship I have with my green cheek conure (who still hates everyone besides me lol). You have to understand that most birds come from traumatic situations that they were imprinted with, unless they were hand raised from a loving breeder (which usually is not the scenario). It takes time, but be patient and compassionate to your bird and it's needs.
Birds when i'm talking to them: *i sleep*
Birds when i start walking away: *w o k e*
Your tips make so much sense but I couldn't think about it.
Hell yes! Because I've had my budgie for months and he still doesn't like me. Any other tips?
DailySavageMix I’ve had my budgies for YEARS and tried and tried to train him and spend time with him but it still hates me
I've had my budgies for half a year and I have tried every trick in the book, and they still hate me.
I have learned that a budgie is not a good type of parrot
Your Sun Conure is so calm lol. Mine chews on my shirts constantly or screams when he's anxious or want me to hold him 🤣
Hows is it going now and if youre cockatiel is tamed now how did you do it?
What if your living room is open to kitchen air and thanks for all these tips 🙏
Does this work with budgies aswell?
I really want a bird, but I'm afraid my dog might be aggressive towards it, even though my dog is so sweet
I don’t even have a bird, but I’ll watch because it’s Tyler and I’ll most likely see some Mango in this video😩😩
My Bird, Ollie is almost a year old, so we have been together for a long time,
he trusts me to feed him with my hand and to step up on my hand,
he likes to be pet, the grooming place still isn't gonna be trimming wings for a while so I hold his back carefully and hang out by his cage to keep him from flying.
The bird test said my perfect bird would be a blue winged parrotlet very interesting and i actually may get it in the future but i love mango 😍😍😍
Wait Tyler, I thought you had Awsten Knight hair😂 or did you film this before you dyed your hair?

I have two budgies and I have them for more than a month and I still haven't tamed them uhhhhhh

please read this and respond i really need help. if u do thank you. so i have a peach faced lovebird that have owned for about 2 months. it still hates me. even before i tried doing the hand thing where u put your hand near the cage and its getting slightly better but the bird still freaks out at random and makes my whole family mad(i dont personally care). my grandparents can hear him through 2 closed doors in our living room while hes sitting on my computer desk in which i spend most of my day.. when i did try feeding him a treat he was actually getting close to my hand after 20 mins but i couldnt hold it anymore and my hand started twitching and he got spooked. the one time i did let him out of the cage after a month(was on accident) he freaked out and he flew around for 3 hours while me trying to catch him. eventually i just left his cage door open and let him walk in to get food then i closed the cage door. also should mention that his cage is a bit too small, gonna geta bigger one soon.but at this point i dont know what to do. he still hates me. im gonna try feeding him treats again. P.S. is cllipping wings necessary? i support wing clipping but will i have to keep doing it or just for the taming process? If u read this entire thing then thanks, if u respond then i cant thank u enough

That test is the cutest stinking thing. It says I need to add a cape parrot to my team ... which I’ve always liked. Dahhhhhh
Whistling helps too! When taming my bird whistling encouraged my bird to come closer to me :)
I used some tricks like feeding him by hand and slowly opening the cage more and more by time...it was stressful but it was worth it and I’m glad it didn’t take a weeks worth!❤️🐦
what bird?? how is it doing now??! id like to have an update!
I just got 2 love birds and having been going through so many videos to learn about them but couldn't find all the info I needed till I found your video.😊 thank you it helped so much
Just took the bird quiz, easily the cutest thing I've seen all day. (It suggested the masked lovebird!)
This worked for me: I keep my birb in my room and she has gotten less scared of me than before because I’m always in my room!
This helped me understand birds and their behavior a lot more. I’m gonna try this with my bird, because he hates me. And is scared of me. Hopefully it works, thank you! 😫
Thanx! This video helped me & my baby sun conure... 🦜Kennedy
Thanks so much for making this, I have wanted a green cheek conure for ages, and this was really usefull! Thx m8!
Hello (:
I have had budgies for about three months and am super sad about my girlfriend and I’s situation with them.
