Great video and tips. Thanks. I’m doing the Revell Cutty Sark, too. Although, I’m making it into a modified version of the clipper ship Snow Squall from Maine. Your video was a nice find, please keep it up.
Thank you some very good tips that I have never seen before. I got a couple of Cutty Sarks to build in different scales so your tips will be a great advantage in the builds.
I did washes years ago and they never gave me the look I wanted. Nothing is better than rubbing newspaper on the deck. The Revell advice to first paint the deck black and latter sand to see the grain never works. I have bought several Cutty sarks on eBay and several modelers have the decks all messed up by painting the deck black as Revell instructs. Air brushing the copper bottom isn't as good looking because the seams between the copper plates are not highlighted. Thinned paint to get in the copper seams is great but you will need practice to get it to look right. My friends love the blue jean treatment on the bottom and always ask how I did it.

Many thanks for all the good advice and tips. I built the Revell Themopylae as a kid many years ago, and now I am thinking of buying the Cutty Sark.
