Thanks again for the discussion! This was a really fun video to be a part of - Octopath II offers so many exciting possibilities through sub-jobs throughout the game so taking the chance to go through some of the highlights in detail led to a great time. I hope everyone finds something useful to take away from this video, whether it's a fun combo or useful options for sub-jobs and support skills to make those challenging fights a little easier! Also I'm not kidding one bit about Warrior Osvald - absolute top tier.
A fun build I found for Warrior on Partito is actually a tank build. By combining Warrior’s Incite and Vengeful Blade with Merchant’s Sidestep and Rest, you can force all attacks onto someone who will auto dodge all physical hits, which for some reason still triggers the counter attack so your damage output isn’t even completely eliminated. Rest just keeps your SP up and status effects like Poison away What makes this good on Partito is that keeping the buffs up on high values is very BP hungry, but by equipping the Dancer Skill “Invigorate and Inspire”, Partito also gains Talent Gauge from buffing himself, which allows for Hoot and Hollar to refill his BP constantly. Downsides come up against elemental attacks (though elemental defense buffs like Prayer to the Flame from your local Cleric can help), AOE and multi hit moves. AOE is just a problem for your other party members (though replacing Incite with Seltige’s Seduction from a Dancer can fix this once you have a Dancer maxed out) and Multi hit attacks because unlike Sacred Shield, Sidestep counts each hit individually, which means lots of counters if you survive, but also means your dodge count is burned fast. Anyway, fun idea for a build I found I haven’t heard people bring up.
My favorite use of Full Power is to have it on scholar Teminos to make Coerce basically free. At full boost, with his latent power active, elemental barrage can instantly break nearly every npc.
dont forget about analyze, have him scout out someones weaknesses before osvald mugs them of their stuff. warrior works well too, you trade analyze and some elemental offence and coverege for durability and vengeful blade; the next best thing when you're out of LP. also i love a good front line cleric.

Some combinations that I've been loving below: Scholar Throne: Using a free turn to get an advance magic for quick intensified spells. Due to having a bunch of multi-hit moves, this mix can be a really good wall-breaker, especially with Salt the Wound and Inspirational Break. Cleric Hikari: He can be a bit of a mana sink, so Mystical Staff gives him a fantastic way to keep his SP topped off. Also, it makes sense to build him as a tank, so he can easily end up with a lot of elemental defense for strong group heals. Armsmaster Temenos: Latent power + free six hits = easy shield break. Merchant Osvold: You can cheese some high power muggings with Sidestep and Rest. A pretty respectable boost to power and bulk with the merchant benefits. Finally, during the mid-game, you can get a spear that can increase fire damage, a bow that increases ice damage, and a staff that increases thunder damage (though you might be better off giving him a stronger staff later on).
Something you didn’t mention for Merchant Agnea: using her latent power with Arrow of Fortune is a really great way to boost JP gains on large battles!
I haven’t gotten to advanced jobs in game yet, but I gotta say this video was a big eye opener to better team building, and a bridge to more fun and sound strategies, thank you for the advice guys. (Safe to say “A step ahead” is forever staying on Partitio and Agnea.)
As a veteran of game one I was able to manage all the pre-credits content of the game but now that I'm staring down the superboss the insights here are valuable.
Word for word, I wholeheartedly agree with this comment. I’m only getting around to everyone’s 1st and 2nd chapters but insight into how to start building them to be the most beneficial later is invaluable.
Warrior Throne can be a very weird Debuffer Tank with Warrior! Grab Full Power via the Merchant job, then use her Latent Power at the start of the battle to set up Incite + Vengeful Blade immediately. She also has Ensnare as a Support Skill, so she'll have the chance to debuff foes every time she gets hit as well. I used this build in my run and it was very fun.
Hidden sub job spoiler Arcanist Partitio can also have a party wide full hp and sp recover with Rest (more so the SP) is a neat feature if you’re struggling with SP
Veil of Darkness is really strong imo, I can't believe you said you weren't missing out on it. Evading an attack means that, if the enemy decides to sweep your whole party, then that attack is just rendered null, much like Sidestep + Seal of Diffusion. So, for both the final boss and the secret boss's second phase, this skill completely nullified one of their body parts, as Veil of Darkness could continuously thwart their physical attacks. This skill is also amazing for cheesing bosses that you are kind of underleveled for (I beat two bosses in the Sundering Sea with this while at level 30ish), because with this, Hang Tough and Leghold Trap/Windy Refrain, you basically have a 7 or 8 turns to find out how to break the boss quickly and not die. Finally, the fact this is on Throné is amazing. Her latent power lets you set up this effect without interrupting much of her game plans making her an amazing supportive option, even if the skill ends up dealing almost no damage. This skill (along with the debuffs) makes support Throné actually very valuable.
She's also just well suited to healing, especially late game when buffs need much more investment to work. That said latent+Sacred Shield is great, especially on the final boss's final phases.
Agnea latent power is amongst the best in the game. Makes leveling etc trivial. Just full power + boost start + scholar agnea elemental barrage kills every random encounter first turn.
I feel that Throné can make use of Cleric late game once you get Of Equal Might off of Arcanist to get her Magic high as her Physical attack. Not to mention her latent can let her AoE revive everyone and then AoE heal. Also she get sorta gets Steal SP with Mystical Staff and got the sexy nun look.
sounds good when you're in mid game and your low on the good items. that being said once you horde some op consumables haveing her just run apothacary just for the devine skill is a solid choice since she's a badass with thief alone, but you could also make ochette the apothacary and evine her some more turns to pop off aoe miricle cures left and right.
Throne's Latent Power on setup turns for the incoming damage assault has been invaluable with Inventor for the time being from early game to mid game (just finished off a majority of my Ch. 3s, only a few left to do). I do intend to eventually move it onto someone else, but Armor Corrosive + Critical Scope is just...it's beautiful. Getting Springy Boots on her at the right time beforehand to maximize Surprise Attack has also made her one of my top damage dealers for now. Really looking forward to getting the rest of the advanced jobs and figuring out what I want to so with both teams since I assume I'll need all eight characters to be relevant again.
One thing I like to do when farming is give Hikari the inventor subjob. As strong as he is, one catapult usually wipes out all enemies which makes farming faster.
Also having one char with step ahead + boost start on every char let's your party start with 3 BP. You can use this on slow dps like Hikari and defend in turn 0 to act first turn 1 with 3BP
Best Armsmaster is actually Temenos IMO. 1- Sixfold strike with his latent, no boost needed works with Sealticge if you need AoE, shields melt. 2- If you build him with a high elem attack and use a conjurer elemental buff with the staff attack=damage cap, also works with Sealticge. My problem with Armsmaster is that with already high DPS characters, its redundant, and with those who it could actually be useful...they have better synergies than armsmaster. Meanwhile Temenos' damage is abysmal unless you use scholar or armsmaster but scholar always makes you lose a turn to use Alephan's to be good. With Armsmaster you can make the support do their jobs to set you up and just go off. Also...Temenos and Agnea have 0 synergy with seal of diffusion not to mention Temenos already has light damage in his kit. Those are probably the 2 worst choices for arcanist. Shout out to Arcanist Hikari vs physical fight=Counters for everyone. But Partition is just hands down the best arcanist tbh.
Watching this guide has once again made me grateful I chose Partitio as my main character. He seems to be perfect for just about any role. I'm currently using him as a Scholar and he works great as a breaker while building up BP so he can buff his allies- Osvald in particular- so they can do massive damage. Having Agnea to provide additonal buffs and Hikari on clean-up duty with Brand's Blade and Ultimate Stance means this party can hit hard and fast, and they've been slaying bosses in a matter of just a few turns so far!
Im still slightly sad that the runelord was cut into two seperate classes but both of them are pretty good. Though the advanced classes this time around felt strange to make work on most characters like AM's lack of a divine skill which just feels odd considering it was basically just moved into 6 fold strike.
I thought I was the only one who was really missing the runelord job, since not only was that job really good but I really like the outfit and how it worked since I love offensive magic classes and magic knights in games like the Tales series. But it's also kinda weird how both the conjurer and arcanist seem super supportive instead of one being more offensive but that's just based on reading the skills since I don't have those jobs yet, and I agree that the final 4 jobs aren't as straightforward as in the first game where you can easily have an idea of who could benefit from said job
@Gps1337 Arcanist can become a good damage option too when on a dedicated magic attacker at least, since the magic advancement buffs work on Blessing and malice.
When I first started this game I just normally gravitated to the samurai warrior class because of numerous srpgs and other games where it was an incredibly OP class and I wasn’t disappointed when Hikari turned out to be a a character that can just wipe the whole board by himself.
DANG! I'm so excited to watch this but I should probably wait until I've unlocked all the characters haha. I've already started unlocking subjobs, and have felt a little lost on who to put them on though. In OT1 the choices came easy to me, but for some reason it's been more difficult in this game to make a definitive decision.
I've personally gotten a lot of mileage out of my Warrior Temenos. It's a surprising synergy that works well both for sustain and support, on top of being really good at supplementing his night path action. Since inquire works off of breaking an opponent, any job that gives Temenos two extra weapons to work with will be good, but Warrior also has a few extra tricks up it's sleeve. First is obviously Vengeful Blade, free shield damage against any for with physical attacks. Second is actually Aggressive Slash. Yes, it's a multi-hitting sword attack, but more specifically at max boost it hits six times. If you use Temenos's latent power at the same time, that's 6 shields gone in a single turn, enough to break most goes outright. The last thing worth mentioning is the free boost to physical attacks the job gives. This might seem irrelevant at first, given his role as a general healer/mage. However: by increasing his physical attack, it means that Mystical Staff will do more damage, and thus recover more SP, and since Temenos is already a healer this then let's you turn those increased SP gains into more sustained HP recovery. This setup is what got me past the boss of the Decaying Temple. You know, the one where you can only have one active party member.
I’ve watched this like 7x in the past two months to help me team build. My conclusion has been that team building in OP2 is much harder than the original lol. Quite frankly, OP2 doesn’t have a Primrose or Ophelia-Primrose was my main (and favorite) in the first game, and Ophelia was a great utility support. Plus, OP2, to me, seems more physically oriented but suffers from an abundance of support skills. I think I’ve finally decided on teams/builds thanks to this video, but man it’s not as simple as the original where Primrose, Ophelia, Olberic, Tressa took up the advanced jobs and became most people’s main team.
You didn't mention that Throné gets a free turn every once and then, making her recharge Inventor's abilities twice as fast than anyone else. Plus, Hikari is by far the best Scholar, with Of Equal Might and access to very unique magic spells by Learned Skills.
These are interesting points to think on, although I personally believe that they more so serve niche purposes than anything that can be used for long-term battling. For Throné and the Inventor, I'm not sure if using her Latent to recharge Inventor moves is a worthwhile use of the ability when the extra action can be used for effects that will last longer. If you did want to charge the Inventor with extra turns you might be better off using Aelfric's instead. Meanwhile with Hikari, we believe, me and the co-host, that magic users already have a hard time dealing damage comparatively to characters that deal physical damage, and while giving him that coverage can be beneficial for stuff such as breaking, I'm not sure if making Hikari a mixed attacker is the right approach since it'd be easier to bolster one stat and focus on a specific role. That, and there aren't enough dodge/reflect effects to justify the mixed usage imo.
@@ZeShado Hikari’s best job is easily Armsmaster. You say it’s redundant but it’s not if you are interested in hitting damage cap and absolutely obliterating foes. He has the highest phys attack in the game so it makes sense to use him as armsmaster. The only other viable option with armsmaster would be ochette, but she doesn’t hit damage cap like hikari. Scholar hikari is actually amazing because it gives him incredible coverage. Not quite as good as armsmaster for him but when paired with equal might and accessories that boost his elemental attack, coupled with the fact he can learn powerful magic that no other character can learn, he becomes the strongest magic attack user in the game. I don’t really see any other viable jobs for hikari besides armsmaster or scholar, at least late game. His main purpose is to do damage so it doesn’t make sense to give him a support heavy secondary job.
So I ran A Steo Ahead and Boost Start on my sweeper Ochette. That meant I could have her defend, then kill all the enemies with a boss monster. And against bosses after I completed her chapter 4, I utilized the glitch either her second EX skill to absolutely decimate everything else.
Several people you missed out of recommendation : -Dancer Throne : Mostly as Temenos' nighttime partner, providing sealtige while also able to double turn into other support stuff ie Armor Corrosive - Scholar Partitio : Turn 1 Alephan's Wisdom is great on Osvald/Temenos centric team - Armsmaster Osvald : Mostly for Mug duels, where Sixfold Strike can quickly poke shields when dueling blind, and Spiritlord Staff skill actually hits pretty hard with 0 setup and it also restore huge amount of SP.
Armsmaster Osvald can be good for duels for sure, although I gotta say his two-part quote of "For every action, there's a reaction." when using Vengeful Blade is too good to give up lol
To add my support for Armsmaster Osvald, the class lets him triple boost either fire (Sword/Spear/Dagger) or Ice (Sword/Axe/Bow) late game, which can be ridiculous. You will miss out on Conquerer's Roar, as well as a couple other skills. But it's some easy *beeg damage* and made Osvald one of my staple party members for tough bosses.
I gotta say I'm surprised Osvald is so well-suited to physical subjobs, pleasantly so since I did warrior Osvald as a theme lol (He did fine during bosses but I switched to Arcanist).
Warrior Osvald can wield two fire buffing weapons. While Hunter Osvald can wield two ice buffing weapons too. With Price of Power, you can just ditch doing One True Magic and do some boosted 3x Fire instead.
I made Osvald a Merchant for mugging lol. Rest and Sidestep can help him stay alive during the fight, plus it gives more weapon coverage for breaking. Warrior is a great thought too for this, I didn't think of Vengeful Blade in this scenario!
Also, Warrior Castti is great for tanking. She is pretty bulky and Incite, Stout Wall and Vengeful Blade has helped me out to keep the team thriving when I don't habe Hikari around and the rest is pretty squishy.
I’ve gotten ridiculous weapons early from mugging by giving Osvald Arms Master and the skill “of equal might” to give him a much higher physical attack. I just hit ‘em with elemental barrage, sixfold strike and then hit ‘em with one of the weaknesses you’ve revealed until broken and then one true magic. I got all the battle tested weapons that I was missing this way.
i just started my first playthrough of a jrpg. I normally play souls like. I just unlocked my third character. the stories are really good the bosses are challenging and its a fun gameplay loop.
Because I ignored the main objectives and just explored. I actually found Armsmaster very early, before I had a rusty weapon (which you need to unlock it). I threw it on Ochette and then gave her all the Lost Tribe weapons with a Blessing in Diaguise. Which was great….. even tho I had her using her monsters for everything. So in late late game I gave it to Hikari and just ran Warrior on Ochette. I only really value Six Fold Strike since the Armsmaster specific weapons aren’t actually *that* good.
Yeah I did the same, had it on Ochette but surprisingly I think the Warrior abilities benefit her a lot better as you can use any kind of weapon with them. Hikari as Arms Master is a great fit and just use battle tested weapons with him and he hits like a truck.
You only talked about one of the two EX skills that each job class has. I've found that Agnea is a good pick for the cleric job class. Her latent skill allows her to turn single-target buffs into party-wide buffs, and that allows you to give Prayer to the Flame and Sacred Shield to all members of your party, which you'll get some use out of.
One thing I noticed with Inventor and A Step Ahead. If you unlock it before unlocking a character, they will have access to it in their chapter 1. I used it to really break a few of them, so if you want to have a way easier time, get that asap
I think anyone that causes high damage needs Deal More Damage to break that damage cap. Can do 10s of thousands of damage instead of maxing at 9999 I also almost put Boost Start and A step ahead, which gives everyone a free turn. I know you can get an extra BP with A Step Ahead on only one person, but I prefer it on everyone since it gives every character a free turn to buff/debuff/whatever before you get into the actual turns. Also Armsmaster is surpisingly good on Ozvald. Equip the skill that equalizes your physical attack and magic attack and boom you have a powerful mage who now has really high physical attack and can cover most all elements and all weapons. You can boost his magic attack to 999 and his physical attack will also be 999.
Cleric/Scholar/Arcanist/Conjurer are also viable jobs for Hikari, you can use of equal might if you want to go magical or hibrid (and those are extremelly solid builds), but even then, if you are going purely physical, both arcanist and conjurer are good for him because those jobs allow him to acces the gigant's club while givving him access to bow or dagger. Actually a very good way to increase physical damage output and arms accesibility without needed to use the armsmaster on Hikari. Same goes for any character that is being built for physical damage, mainly Ochette (with arcanist, to avoid weapon overlap) and Throne (with conjurer).
For what it's worth, having extra access to weapon coverage is nice although I'm not entirely sure if giving up your only Advanced Job slot for that purpose alone is worth it, especially on the Arcanist who can provide an exuberant amount of supportive capabilities or damage output via the two magic spells. That, and with Of Equal Might, I find that you may be better off focusing on one particular damage dealing role rather than splitting up your offensive capabilities so that you can significantly increase the effectiveness of your damage output. I will say that Throne Conjurer can be really nice for both the weapon coverage and the supportive capabilities in-tandem with the Thief base job.
@@ZeShado I see the point, but the damage increase of the gigants club is very noticable, and arcanist is a very usefull job, but conjurer is far weaker and might be reasonable. Even then, scholar and cleric are both usable for the weapon type instead of the advanced job, as the most important thing is to get access to that specific weapon to increase physical damage dealt. Same logic can also go the other way around for magic. For example there is a sword, a dagger and a lance that have fire damage increase as equiment effect. I did some testing and olsvald fire damage nearly doubled with the 3 weapons equiped (even though I had to use armsmaster for the experiment, but warrior or thief can get you 2 of the 3). The point is that secondary jobs you chose should also take into account the different pasive bonuses special weapons can give you.
@@Esalok That's totally fair. The secondary effects of weapons as well as passive bonuses can definitely make some strategies a lot more appealing than others. I think in this entry, in particular, having the ability to use any of the regular subjobs on several travelers makes it a lot more manageable too unlike in the first game where only one traveler can use a class.
I have had Arcanist Hikari to great effect, but that effect is a one trick pony. Far superior to the Step trick, Hikari can get one particular learned skill from a duel that grants him complete damage immunity for 1 turn per boost. Perfect for the final boss battle to completely shut Vide down.
Arcanist Partitio is really strong and can snowball out of control but it's pretty much overkill for chapter 4 bosses and it can at least help out for some postgame bosses. I feel like Arcanist really starts falling off when you run into the superbosses or extra battle bosses that start spamming buff wipes though. You spend a lot of effort setting up the Sidestep combo or Seal of Eternity and all of that effort is just wiped away because the superboss just likes spamming buff wipes every other turn
How about Armsmaster Agnea? Think about it, AOE On the Hunt, AOE Mischievous Step, AOE Cosmic Roar (she has high speed and usually goes first), AOE Sixfold Strike. Nut her up she could reach damage cap.
Nah, Partitio is far better, cause he actually wants to make the world a better place and thinks about what he does, unlike this hypocritic clout chaser.
Evil Ward is really nice when you are wanting to power level a neglected traveller by farming caits and octopuffs with Alrond's help. It seems like your chances of escaping an encounter are average team level based
I know you probably didn't talk about them to avoid spoilers, but what are you two's thoughts on everybody's second ex skill? EDIT: Something else about the scholar/cleric combo (that I may have missed, sorry if you discussed it) is that Advanced Magic and Alephan's Wisdom apply to Heal Wounds and Revive, getting more health from both. Maybe not the best use of the buff, but having that extra aoe healing (especially on Revive) can come in clutch sometimes.
That sounds really fun actually! I'm not entirely sure how much it'll come into practice but if you do already have it set up, especially on a character that is running both jobs, I can see it being a nice way of healing up the entire party.
Need more love for Full Power for Merchant. You highly rated vigorous victor because of the synergy for Sp heavy characters like hikari but Full Power with ochette/Hikari plus a step ahead is a FREE AOE on the first turn on every enemy. Also has better utility for boss fights versus vigorous victor being a wasted slot on boss fights. Full Power on Cassti also ensures a free concoct on turn 1 that can give everyone max BP plus any other extra effect you want.
Is that just something all of us JRPG/RPG veterans do, is just horde all these items? I didn’t even sell cogs, hairbrushes and monocles etc because before I learned differently, I was afraid I’d need them for a quest. It’s terrible and it’s spilled over into my actual life as well. Lol. Thanks for the sub job guide! Very in depth and helpful. I missed the first OT so this was super helpful. I’ve fallen asleep listening to it more than a few times but I’ve listened to it and referred back to 10x more lol
I'm starting to realize just how _awkward_ some of OT2's Classes are. Scholar got a balance patch disguised as a new Skill (Advanced Magic), Apothecary has the only AoE Axe attack and a duo of Too Weak Poison skills sitting at the bottom of it's satchel, Thief is a better tanky debuffer than a damage dealer, and they couldn't decide if they wanted Warrior to be a tank or a damage dealer, so it got to be both! And that's not even mentioning (C) or any of the Self-Skills that (A) gets to bring out of the invisible, moonlit woodwork!
I personally find Throne to be the best donate bp character that latent ability allows her to shower two characters with variable bp amounts..or you can give 2 bp without using any of her own bp..it feels like it makes your rounds a lot more impactful and versatile/customisable than Partitio filling one character a time...but I mean you can buff him to go two time but why not buff someone else lol. Cause frankly Thrones thief abilities are bleh not worth double turning imo. I think Partitio is better off focusing on abusing a subclass that could put the bp he can fill from the get go to good use himself as a character while also having bp as an option on the side. That way you can have three characters with max bp on the first turn..if throne goes first lol.
This guide was really incredible. Would you guys be able to type here in the comments what class you recommend for each of the characters as a summary? Thank you!
Thank you for the compliment! I think that it would be helpful but the reasonings will be lost unless watched through the video so I encourage that if possible.
Just started playing the game recently. I started with Castti, and I've recruited Hikari, Partitio, Ochette, and Agnea so far. But I am struggling quite a bit. Obviously this video is for late game when you have everyone and everything available, but do you have any advice for things I should be focusing on, party member synergies, or good skills to pick up early game that could make things easier?
8 minutes in OH SO That warrior skill removes buff from self not foes I've been trying to use that to remove buffs from bosses and failing and not understanding why
How do I level My characters up evenly or get even caught up… because I only figured out I had to cross the ocean to recruit at level 16 -___- so now I have 4 at level 16 and the rest starting at level 1. Should start over? Or is there easier way does it even matter?
Arcanist is overrated against the superboss, he will take down your buffs. Its better to go with a merchant or three that can break shields because that is what you will be doing in the second phase.
@@ZeShado Buff cocktails are overrated against this boss because of how dangerous he is when he gets going, nevermind he can dispel them. Its all about shield breaking and raw damage. Ochette should rely on shield breaking with her 2nd EX instead of being an armsmaster as well and Ocean Lizardking III wrecks the last phase of the second phase (and has a windy refrain effect as well). Agnea as an armsmaster is excellent in either phase of this fight as she can AOE On the Hunt.
Thanks again for the discussion! Didn't know that Arcanist worked on Divine Buffs, so this changed a LOT for me!
My main with Throne was Hunter but I did briefly switch to Warrior for Deal More Damage. Arber’s Reckoning was a pretty reliable screen nuke
Hidden sub job spoiler
Arcanist Partitio can also have a party wide full hp and sp recover with Rest (more so the SP) is a neat feature if you’re struggling with SP
This skill (along with the debuffs) makes support Throné actually very valuable.
i personally think Agnea with cleric is amazing, sacred shield + latent power
She's also just well suited to healing, especially late game when buffs need much more investment to work. That said latent+Sacred Shield is great, especially on the final boss's final phases.
This is how I play her too. Sacred shield AoE but she can also AoE Phys def and Mag def up as well this way
Agnea is great with anything.
Or you can use upheaval or the dual sword attack all
I really enjoy Stab Nun Throne. As a Thief/Cleric, she is super versatile and always has something useful to do in every fight.
Recently picked up the game and am now starting the solopath runs. Thank you kindly for the guide!
Merchant Agnea spamming Windy Refrain can be broken as a damage build. You need three weapons that boost the Wind damage.
Inventor Castti was my favorite. When played right she can do something super useful every turn
Warrior Partitio I’ve been having fun with alongside one step ahead as he can set himself up as an incredible dodge tank with Incite and Sidestep
I started with ochette but good lord I love Throne. Her story is so good. I would play an entire game with her as the main character
Just remember that in most cases you can get through the game with any combo, no matter how wacky they seem.
Cleric Agnea is a beast, even if the healing isn't amazing, the fast defensive setup along with the offensive support makes her the complete pack
Just what I needed!
Several people you missed out of recommendation :
-Dancer Throne : Mostly as Temenos' nighttime partner, providing sealtige while also able to double turn into other support stuff ie Armor Corrosive
- Scholar Partitio : Turn 1 Alephan's Wisdom is great on Osvald/Temenos centric team
- Armsmaster Osvald : Mostly for Mug duels, where Sixfold Strike can quickly poke shields when dueling blind, and Spiritlord Staff skill actually hits pretty hard with 0 setup and it also restore huge amount of SP.
The flat speed boost on Thief is nice for Aebers Reckoning and Suprise attack. Gives Thief easy to use, high damage that doesn't require much setup.
I also pair Thief with at least the Deal More Damage Skill and then switch back to their main class
Thank you for this, I saw sources online and their recommendations don’t make sense to me. This for sure puts in perspective all the details I need
Something I'm considering trying as a for fun build is armsmaster osvald with weapons that increase specific element damage, should be fun
Try this but with Castti is so funny
i just started my first playthrough of a jrpg.
That sounds really good lmao
Agnea + Armsmaster + Full Power. Best mob wipe in the game in my opinion. Infinite SP, multi-target nuke. Tough to beat.
Oh wow this is an amazing video and really helped guide me in the right direction with all these options!
I had NO CLUE about seal of eternity working on divine skills! Holy monkeys, this is gonna be fun
Here’s a tip for yall Oswald mug if you stack up on bottle of darkness and don’t attack you basically just win plus it works at any level
Yea Deal More Damage will become really important later into the game where characters have the ability to break past 9999 damage!
I had Throne be a Hunter and only switched her briefly to Warrior to get Deal More Damage. Arber’s Reckoning is a pretty reliable screen nuke
@@ZeShado Hikari has crazy Arcanist synergies however.
Use seal of eternity on your seal of diffusion and just constantly give sidestep, rest, and reflective barrier
This 100%. Agnea Armsmaster is by far the most epic. Her Latent makes Armsmaster 10x better.
Partitio is the MrBeast of Octopath
Nah, Partitio is far better, cause he actually wants to make the world a better place and thinks about what he does, unlike this hypocritic clout chaser.
My sister and I joke that he's a Communist because he siezes the means of production and led a worker uprising in chapter 1💀
@@aegisScale its no joke, hes the first successful communist merchant ive ever seen lmao
@@Ixs4i If we wanna get ultra-technical I think he'd be closer to market socialist (since he still works with currency and all), but you right.
In addition to Toto'haha like you mentioned, you can get pomegranate leaves in the black market for 1k leaves each.
“This saved my life”
This was an amazing video you guys put together. Thanks for this. I am sure this took a long time to put together.
Advanced Magic and Wisdom also works on the Arcanist spells and Osvald's second EX skill, those are cracked when boosted to 2-3 hits.
@@aegisScale Agreed. Makes Osvald a great Cleric.
I think that it would be helpful but the reasonings will be lost unless watched through the video so I encourage that if possible.
i watched it late but still an awesome video/discussion
1:03:21 literally playing a new save file with throne and this is correct I’ve had it on her thinking to myself…. Hmmm why do I have this right now.!?
bro learned laymans and moreover and never stopped using them
Do you think you'll make any more Octopath videos, or are you done? I really loved the ones you'd make!
Octopath 1 just became available on Playstation. Will y'all do a video like this for first game?
Me who got Armsmaster by lvl 20:
(not joking)
can there be a shortened version of this
Would the support skill that gives your whole team an early start diminish Themenos' trait where he blinds enemies for 1 turn?
It would, but it is entirely worth it
Vide the Wicked does have that buff removing skill. So yeah it’s advised not to try Arcanist strategies on him.
Amazing video , my 2 teams would be hikari temenos throne agnea / casti partitio ochete osvald. What sub jobs would u reccomend?
8 minutes in
OH SO
That warrior skill removes buff from self not foes
I've been trying to use that to remove buffs from bosses and failing and not understanding why
OH
I never really understood weak to poison
It makes poison reduce enemies shields ?!?!
... I really should experiment more when playing this
For inventor, do you have to recharge every turn to get to use it again? Like 5 turns of building to fix one item? What?
It should be that you spend one turn crafting and then you have to wait the additional turns doing other things before you can use it again.
Ah, the big mode
How do I level
My characters up evenly or get even caught up… because I only figured out I had to cross the ocean to recruit at level 16 -___- so now I have 4 at level 16 and the rest starting at level 1. Should start over? Or is there easier way does it even matter?
Partitio s Arcanist is broken as hell 🤣🤣🤣
Lol I used Osvald Thief😂😂😂
Who should I put the inventor job skills with
I see a lot of people using Merchant Ochette fairly often. Can anyone tell me if there’s a specific reason for this? Thank you!
Temenos is the best Armsmaster.
Agnea
Wait.... Concoct is affected by BP?!?
Arcanist is overrated against the superboss, he will take down your buffs. Its better to go with a merchant or three that can break shields because that is what you will be doing in the second phase.
Merchant can be very helpful in those situations, especially with the Beastling Hired Help since this reduce shield points no matter what!
Slap Scholar on Tenemos and let leave it.
Elemental Barrage is so cheese on some NPCs it isn't even funny
