Sam Harvey (Martin Jarvis) plans to quit the force for a career as a children's writer, but his plans are put on hold when his parents are killed in a bizarre accident.
Broadcast 25th January 1980
I woke up in the middle of the night with this opening tune in my head. I have never heard anything like it before and it has my attention. Dadadada!
my day has just had a major endorphin rush, thanks!
Love it! ❤Thanks you very much! Looking forward to the next episodes !
Ahh, now I get it. More episodes will be uploaded next week. Thank you.
Great! Loving these
Still intriguing......
thanks for uploading
Thank you...
And the plot thickens! Thanks CBT
British do it best! What a find. Thank you❤
When both parties have a gun, I can never understand why they have a fist fight.....
Well I don’t either party would want to be accused of murdering
Because there protecting there hearing 😂
Actually, British police aren't allowed to carry guns unless they get special permission. It avoids "shooting accidents."
Queensbury rules!!!
Harvey is a sportsman🧐
Not much point taking a knife to gunfight😹⚡️🫧
Voss had no intent in killing a policeman in his apartment. His gun was supposed to be a deterrent until his backup arrived to take the policeman somewhere else.
Fantastic..thank you
This is the best of the Durbridge scripts/series. I think. How does he do it?
And having Martin Jarvis in it certainly helps.m
Jarvis is terrific as an Oxford don in the ‘Inspector Morse’ episode ‘Greeks Bearing Gifts’ (1991).👍🏻
@EyeByBrian He's also marvellous at reading audiobooks. I used to hear him reading on the BBC and thought he read beautifully.
Mela (Diamante Lil) White behind the bar just like in Bergerac. Anybody remember Simon Oates (Larry Foster) in Doomwatch?
I always enjoy watching older series for the mise-en-scene: smoking is permitted in hospitals, that giant VISA card…
Interesting that the opening attempted murder scene is shot on video tape (from the looks of it) yet the next scene at the hospital is clearly shot on celluloid!
Yes, that is quite normal for productions; studio scenes shot were on tape and on-location scenes shot on film.

Thanks for uploading, but either there is a fourth episode, or the conclusion of episode three was poor.
It's a six-part series.
Next episode next week!
Episode 3 and only 3 dead bodies? Not the typical Durbridge.
Looks strangely like ‘product placement’ to me. BBC would normally have had an unknown brand of cigars. But Mannikin so clearly visible? (25.03)
Looks like I'm in a minority of one. Find the action implausible and the acting pretty amateurish
