My viewers have requested and here I deliver: TLDR AMD 24.5.1 is generally better and consumes less RAM. AMD 24.9.1 gains a slight advantage in a few new games like God of War Ragnarok, Space Marine 2, etc.
Every day I'm hoping a driver update fixes the 1% lows in Alan Wake 2, and every time I am disappointed. It was actually pretty fine at launch but I'm not sure if it's a game update or what but the 1% lows, no matter what settings or resolution I use on my 6700XT I always get 30fps for the 1% lows. I have a 7800x3d so I know I'm not CPU limited either. I've tried locking the framerate to like, 40, still get frametime spikes. Always happens on Sagas chapters that are at night. Anyway, I thank you for your service.
Same happened with Rx 6600, it was after the game update if I remember right. Finished it with bad .1% lows. It is a strong Nvidia sponsored title, so...
24.5.1 is not better for your GPU, it is just less taxing to the CPU, aka driver overhead, that is why you'll see performance difference in favor of 24.5.1 usually when games are CPU limited. Update your drivers always, new drivers won't lose performance on older games but old drivers lose performance on new games. Just tune your graphic settings to keep away from CPU bottlenecks.
Not completely true Older DX11 games on windows 10 are stuttering and have mega lag on drivers newer then 24.5.1 Most competitive AMD GPU using e sports players are still on 24.5.1
@@jeffreybouman2110 Nope, not completely true either. I have more than 200 hours in once human and many other dx11 games, 24.5.1 is more of a stuttering mess if you are GPU-bound. "Usually," if you are CPU bounded you may gain something from 24.5.1. "Most competitive AMD GPU using e-sports players are" regularly updates their drivers, as me. Like all people should.
I have updated the driver 2 days back and today got Amd timeout error while playing Uncharted. I dont think there are any effective solution for this one on YT. So is it any way possible to uninstall the current drivers and install the 24.5.1?
Yes, you can uninstall any GPU driver by DDU, just google it. But I recommend the Amd cleanup utility which is the easiest and hassle-free way. Then, you can install the driver you want. But before doing that, I recommend resetting your shader cache in Adrenalin software, and then try uncharted before changing the driver.
@@GamingTest-cz3mp everytime I use DDU i still have problems with the driver's installation because amd forces me to download the latest version of the driver and I can't download older ones. Do you know any solutions?

its more about new driver stability
With the exception of certain games I fail to see where the "fine wine" applies to these driver updates for amd.

@@GamingTest-cz3mp and which one to install? Tried 24.5.1 and it's showing as not supported driver with the graphic card
