  • Today I took the New Balance SC Elite V3 for a first run to see what the latest carbon racing shoe from New Balance is all about. Full review will be published in a few weeks time. Let me know in the comments if you plan to pick this one up or maybe you've already ran a marathon in them- would love to hear your thoughts

    I'm tempted to try this when they come out with some other colorways in February, but I already have the Vaporfly 2, Endorphin Pro 3, and Adios Pro 3 for races and speed work, so I definitely don't need another expensive pair of racing shoes that I wouldn't use as much as daily trainers. It'd be good if you can do a comparison video between the aforementioned shoes (and other carbon-plated racing shoes you've tried) with the SC Elite V3 for the 'Best Racing Shoes of 2022' video.

    Do you always run with traffic? Here in the US we typically run against traffic so we can see on coming cars if they don’t move over 😬

      It's what's advised here too.

      I usually run against however on the narrow windey roads it’s sometimes safer to run with the traffic. If I run against I’ve actually found I’ve had a lot more near misses when cars come round the corner and can’t avoid me 😂 play it by ear :)

    Hi Ben. Just got these pair recently. First that comes to mind is the comfort and fit. Arch support is good. However, heel lock is just a little bit lacking. Over a easy fitting shoes and fun to run in.

    I loved the V2, had a test run in them, then the shop told me the price..... so they went back on the shelf and I got Atreyu Artist instead haha. May stretch to the V3 as my summer road race shoe though.

      These carbon plated shoes aren’t cheap so a really good idea to try them on in store before going for it. A very comfortable offering these, think a lot of people will get on really well with them

    Been looking at these for a while, the price is very high for these at around £220, these companies are proper taking the P with these top end trainers.
    I think for me Sacouny endorphin speed are the best upper end trainers but again the price is high, not as high as these though.
    Good luck Ben with the marathon.

      Unfortunately I don’t see the prices coming down anytime soon as people clearly keep paying them. The speed are certainly a more affordable race day option.

    Hey Ben, ever thought of getting into the Merch game like the Parkes? I’ve bought loads of his gear but just saying, if you dropped a B.I.R Vaga style cap I would totally be all over that…

    Wish it was available prior to
    Christmas. Great video!
    Love your posts.
    Would you recommend the v3, the supercomp trainer or the x more v4? Would like to buy for my wife, for Christmas. And if you recommend the v3, I’ll have to wait 🤷‍♂️
    Thanks!

    Hi Ben, love the review…question for you- you say that the shoe comes alive at your fast marathon pace and you can feel the gain it gives you. As my marathon is a lot slower, do you think I would get any benefit from a super shoe like this?

    • @BenIsRunning
      @BenIsRunning  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I still think it would give you an advantage over a regular pair of trainers. I just found with the fuel cell foam at easy pace for me it felt a little softer and then when I picked up the pace it seemed to firm up and really give you a higher energy return :)

    Carbon 👌 £220 😲 Would love to understand from the manufacturers why such a price hike over standard running shoes as carbon is not that expensive ?

    • @BenIsRunning
      @BenIsRunning  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think it’s due supply issues with sourcing the carbon. Be interested to know also. I think unfortunately nike set the price with the latest carbon racing shoes when there was such high demand for them and now all the other competitors have basically matched these prices so there product doesn’t seem inferior?

    Great video Ben! Do you have a recommendation for a faster shoe for someone that has moved from beginner to a more regular runner!

    • @BenIsRunning
      @BenIsRunning  ปีที่แล้ว

      A few shoes that are good for regular running and faster running would be the saucony endorphin speed or the ASICS novablast 3 for me :) hope that helps

    When it comes out next February, will it have the attached tongue/bootie style upper?
    I wanted this shoe for the colorway, alone..... love it.
    Couldn't get my foot in!

    • @BenIsRunning
      @BenIsRunning  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would expect it to be the same yes. That’s a shame, I always go half a size up in new balance shoes if that helps.

      @steveflor9942 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BenIsRunning Yeah, I am 9 1/2 w/slightly wide forefoot.
      10 D usually works fine.
      I sent them back mainly because the way the tongue bunched up in rolls under the laces.
      Otherwise, willing to deal with the other issues.
      Cheers, Ben

    How do they compare with the Alphaflys? I’m looking for a more comfortable marathon shoe and wondered if these should be my choice but I’ve heard mixed reviews 🤔

    • @BenIsRunning
      @BenIsRunning  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They have a very similar bouncy ride to an alphafly but without the arch issues. More comfortable for sure from my testing this far. Will let you know in a few weeks time :)

    • @chankoksoon

      Good alternative to a Nike Alphafly Next% 2. I personally have no arch issues with the Alphaflys. However, if you have arch issues with Alphafly 2 like many others, this is really a good alternative. I need to add that the heel lock is not as good as a Alphafly 2.

    New runner here, learning about shoes and 'drop' seems to be mentioned a lot. Why is it a thing? what does it give you? 4mm 8mm why does it matter? Cheers

    • @BenIsRunning
      @BenIsRunning  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s just the difference between the rear and front of the shoe. A bigger drop usually gives a shoe a more of an aggressive feel and gets you up onto your toes but just comes down for personal preference :)
