Those Escort diesel engines needed lots of heat… when the glow plug light goes out wait a bit longer as the glow plug cycle hasn’t finished until you hear the relay click! …., Well that how they were when still fitted in the cars/vans.

Hi James + Max, You got the Agri buggy running , the Ford 1.8 D engine that came out in 1984 for the Escort, Orion and Fiesta. This would make a decent little farm truck with a flat deck and sides great to keep around the farm. Still thing of a Land Rover TD5 engine the Ford Engine is a little sluggish on power but cheap to run. I like Max's idea with a straight pipe. With an empty back the ideas are endless, have fun with it ,catch you soon Take care

Turn it into a - Mini-unimog... Also yeah vertical pipe would be easier to sort - one less thing to catch under it. Flat bed tipper with 3pt sounds solid - you can add a 3pt Weight on the rear and put a blade or say brush hog on front? I reckon the Radiator needs a cowling / frame around it to protect it.

I put a Land Rover 300tdi and auto gearbox in mine, needed to stretch the chassis though to get it to fit! Have you considered a 1.8 turbo diesel engine from an escort did one of those conversions above 15 years ago transformed the buggy
