Looking closer at the J-20 heater/side pylons it seems like they are movable ones, that deploy out of the side doors (that then close behind it).
So they are probably not static external pylons.

In the French navy, the fighter-to-fighter AAR is not meant to increase your range during combat missions, but only to make sure you can refuel if you wave off too many times. In other words, the "nounou" system allows the Rafale to play to role of the USN S-3 Viking.

Thank you for bringing up some of the factors that are involved with FMC rates for those that don't understand it. Sadly, the haters will hate on the F-35 and jump on any facts they feel will justify their position, even when they do not understand the subject.
Once and for all. A brand new weapons system is NOT proven until it actually goes to war. Until then we will never know if the 35 was worth all those $$ for its development.

The mhm topic is a really important one especially the overextending oneself. Everyone has a point where not only is it detrimental to your health and wellbeing but it becomes counter-productive to achieving your goals. I recently had to have a conversation with a friend about this exact topic , mostly personal boundaries and balance around work, family , friends etc. Theres only a limited number of hrs in the day and if you exceed it then typically everything starts to suffer and thats what had happened. Her businesses started to suffer , her friendships , pretty much every aspect of her life was getting neglected because of a self imposed and maybe external expectation that more is better and a faster way to get where you want to be. It isnt , in fact all you do is neglect everything and feel like shit.
Even the SR71 had a nickname, "The Sled" :)

Singapore’s Block 52 F-16Cs can use the AIM-7 but these have since been replaced with AIM-120.
Additionally, Iraq’s F-16s are Block 52 but like Egypt only have the AIM-7. I guess Egypt is going the Pakistan route since Pakistan already has J-10s instead of Block 70/72 F-16s. Anyways Egypt has the F-16A/B as well as both Block 40 & Block 52 but only their F-16C/D can use the AIM-7!
J-10C is the only medium-weight jet fighter Pakistan can get due to them not having favorable relations (regarding military equipment) with the USA. The PAF LOVES the f-16 to death, every PAF chief of staff in the past 30 years flew the f-16, and culturally has had a big impact on the Pakistani community. If Pakistan were to buy 72s, they would have to be geopolitically close to the US instead of China and somehow make amends for Attobad but even then congress can block the sale or take the payment for the f-16s and store them in a warehouse like they are doing for turkeys f-35 and Pakistans AH-1Z. These things will never happen under the current leadership, unfortunately.

Imagine your french aircraft carrier is in the middle of the.. idk ocean and they need some cargo from an A-400 asap. The a400 flies out there then fuels up from 4 rafales to get back home since it can’t refuel on the deck.

The rudder trim and the door unlock knobs feel vastly different. And you have to hold the rudder trim around 5 seconds to get to full deflection. A bad habit it seems this captain has been repeating. But the security issue is the most inexcusable part of this incident. Time to retire..

The bigger question with Egypt isnt why they went with the J-10 over the F-16. Its why did they go with the J-10 over the Rafale. The Egyptians have already placed and order for the Rafale, so they're starting to come into service. Why wouldnt they just place an additional order to increase the number.
I can only imagine price has a big part to play, but also not putting all your eggs in one geo-political basket. Not wanting to be dependent on any one country.
Maybe im misunderstanding you guys, but about the external mounting points on the J20, those are not actually external mounting points. The J20 has 1 weapons bay for a short-range AAM on each side of the chin. the design is to have the missle swivel out by itself while the bay closes, instead of having the bay open while firing. So that's why it looks like its carrying 2 missles on the outside. The idea is that to swivel out the missile by itself and have the bay door be closed, is lower impact on radar signature than having the weapons bay open. NO idea if the improvement is just theoretical or if it makes any difference in the real world. But that is the idea.
